my God, what gorgeous singing. remember watching a Shoah documentary, i think it may have been Shtetl, and a woman describing how one of the local women who was a fairly strong anti-semite, nevertheless, would stand near the town shul on Shabbes, and listen from outside to the singing and cry.....shame she could not put 2 plus 2 together, but then, some of every group does not....Brian Epstein's shul is what brought me here...a zei gezunt...

The synagogue ran out of members and money. The building is listed so a sale is difficult.

So sad! I had my bar mitzvah here, My Grand parents Harry and Esther Cohen were members for years and gave many hours of there soul in there seats. Harry would look up at Esther as the woman sat upstairs. My mother Shella got married to my farther Alan Rathbone here also. I went to so many weddings down stairs . Shame on all the Jewish community that let this jewel come to this. I lived in Israel and felt proud to belong to something that made the architects of the Synagogue build a common place for us that goes further than the bricks. Soon it will be built into homes which spreads the greed of mankind rather than the love this place gave to a community .

Can it not be incorporated into the school? - the acoustics are brilliant... is it grade one or two listed? Can the city council not help or grants? - i know from previously living on a farm, it took some time, but i managed to have an agricultural tie removed from a building, not that you would want to lift the listing, but if it is not used, it will fall into disrepair which would be a tragedy...
