An honour to see them in Tobermory ..Made an epic journey from Iona for the weekend in the 90's Tee Hee !!
I love to see a young Ally and phil.
In the era where there seems to be a plethora of people who seem to think that playing everything at breakneck speed is what makes a fiddler, Aly once said to me something that I found pretty profound. He put his hand on my shoulder and said, "You can play jigs and reels as fast as ye like; onybody can play fast, but it's the playing of a slow air that makes the fiddler who he is". I've never forgotten that and never has a truer word been spoken. Aly and Phil playing slow airs just makes the goosebumps run up and down your spine and gives the heartstrings an almighty tug!
Oh, to see these boys live would be a dream come true. Many, many tears...my spirit soars 😯🥺😂
Awe, pure gold xx
Aye!! pure gold.. bloody spell check! :)
No idea how this popped up! But so pleased it did. My friend and I had the ENORMOUS pleasure of seeing these two for many years at Hitchin Folk club. Brilliant, just brilliant. Great stories; laughter a plenty and SUPERB musicianship. One minute my feet can't keep up with their amazing speed on the reels and jigs; the next I'm brought to tears by a plaintive air - as Sarah's song here. Sadly, at the moment, they have no plans it seems to tour 'down South' in the foreseeable future.
Saw them at Croydon several years ago. They obviously need extra bus fares to enable them to let us see them down South. BOYS WHERE ARE YOU,?
this was a big part of my childhood playing an Accordion, watched this with my Nan many times, and still watch it again on a Saturday after work, nostalgia, and envy, that i may play, but will never be so good on stage
Love it especially the oft told tales of Fergie. These two can easily make a huge audience feel as though they are in wee pub in the back of beyond. Top musicians and top people.
Such a gift! Found this on New Years Eve when I really wanted Scottish music and here it was… at my fingertips. Such a deep listening pleasure.
Brilliant stuff Ally & Phil! Love your enduring and everlasting love, friendship and partnership!! Great to heart such great music. It always strikes at the heart of the present and the future with an added depth of understating for the past with bounteous sprinkles of pleasant pleasure and nostalgia; bringing and knitting people from all walks of life and backgrounds together Well Done!!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Brilliant music and the best jokes i have heard in a while. Great entertainment🎉😂🎉
Super stunning musicians
Lovely stuff! Kamloops is in the middle of British Columbia, btw!
Somebody with more free time than I have should put time stamps in here for the songs! Thanking you in advance for your time and trouble.
36:40 Shores of Loch B - Headlands - Floggin
I know that tune, La Bastringue. Who was that old canuck fiddler? The taxi driver?
