- Article 370 of the Constitution, which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir, has been removed by a presidential order, Home Minister Amit Shah said in parliament today. The announcement came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting of his cabinet at his house this morning. Jammu and Kashmir will also be "reorganised," said the Home Minister, with the state's bifurcation into two Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

As an Indian, I salute our Prime Minister and Home Minister for taking such a lionhearted step to scrap Article 370. A Kashmiri friend of mine told me many years back in Dubai that many Kashmiris really wanted to see abrogation of article 370. So, by opposing and making hue and cry by opposition parties shall only pave the way for disliking them more and more by overwhelming majority in the country who, in fact, eagerly wanted it to happen.

It is known that some of KP were made to transfer property under duress. When there are announcements from Masjids to get out or be killed, following massacre, KP were under duress. These were people like you and me and not seasoned warriors. Can you imagine yourself in their position ?
Justice will be served when each KP gets their home back ! Justice will be served when the perpetrators and people complicit either directly or indirectly of this crime are bought to justice. Justice will be served when 80000 Valmikis are given their rights. All Kashmiri Pandits including their spouses and families should be urgently accomadated with full dignity. Their security should be diligently assured.
