INSANE PHIL X!! 1963 Gibson Firebird III 01018

- www.frettedamer... of just 272 of the first year Firebird lll model, this guitar weighs just 8.00 lbs. and has a nice, fat nut width of just over 1 11/16 inches and a standard Gibson scale length of 24 3/4 inches. Solid mahogany body, mahogany, neck, and bound rosewood fretboard with 22 jumbo frets and inlaid pearl dot position markers. Headstock with gold-painted "Gibson" logo on black plastic truss-rod cover. Individual Gibson Banjo-style tuners with rearwards metal tulip-shaped buttons. Two "patent number" mini-humbuckers with outputs of 6.57k and 6.72k. Earliest style three-layer (white/black/white) plastic pickguard (without "Firebird" emblem). Four controls (two volume, two tone) plus three-way selector switch. Gold plastic bell-shaped knobs with metal tops. Combination bar bridge/tailpiece with pre-set ridges and factory Gibson short Vibrola tailpiece with flat arm. All parts nickel-plated. The pots are dated "137 63 43" (CTS Oct 1963). This is one of the very earliest examples with a two-piece full length neck and a convex heel which blends into the body. Also there is no 'Firebird' emblem on the three-layer plastic pickguard. Housed in the original Gibson black hardshell case with yellow plush lining (8.75).

This guy needs his own show on tv, about 25 minutes on air would be enough, he's more skilled than many others hosts, and I wouldn't miss it.

His intrinsic, unbridled joy of performing is exponentially positively infectious! Well, that coupled with the fact that vintage and rare guitars are like PORN to me, lol!!! Phil X and Frettedamerican are the best show on CZcams, period. Hats off Phil for playing VH on a Firebird. Those are not fast action guitars and certainly not forgiving. Great job.
dude you just need to know you inspire people. i've never felt music so much in my life and i've never practiced so hard and so much before the last few months of discovering your videos. i'm a little old to just be picking up the guitar (22) but i know it's never too late to start. rock on dude. rock on.
What amazes me about this guy is that he can play all sorts music, metal, funk, classic rock, 50s, 60s, 70s, van halen and BLUES Come ooooooon. This dude is not human.
You can tell Phil X loves what he's doing and loves life.
Anyone that can't appreciate that is the REAL tool.

I've watched so many of these video's that now everytime I'm excited/happy about something I sing or yell yeeeaaah! like phil does at the beginning :P
These videos have been so, so great, to understand what equipment to purchase to obtain the absolute authentic sound of the 60s.
For years, I asked this at guitars stores in Seattle and LA, and every single time, received indifference and basically they would say to get any guitar and use effects from solid state amps. They demoed it and it was no good. Over the last 2 years, I have learned the types of guitars and the correct amps, such as the mighty AC30. Thanks Phil and Fretted Americana
