I play fallout all the time in my free times, at least 1 or 2 times a year, just to be wondering around and doing random stuff.. ive played the entire fallout series for 1000s of hours and i still miss more then half of my shots lol

Make sure to play Fallout New Vegas and all the DLC after FO4
It will feel a bit clunky and you will probably need to use VATS more often but the story and dialog trees are VASTLY more polished than F04. FONV is the best game in the series. At least for me.
