They're "colour changing" because the paints are actually made with dye! When dyes are highly concentrated and dried (like on the sheet), they take on a crystal structure and makes them shine a different colour! That's why they look a little metallic. You can see the same thing happen with highly saturated fountain pen inks too (which are also dye based)!
I was searching around Google the best I could to find out why it does that. Thanks for sharing! That's really interesting.

The violet is green because it's probably made using indigo die, which, when layered and dried, is green!

usually to make indogo die you need to ingest pure indigo pigment and then as you are becoming poisoned you need to get electricuted.

the violet reminds me of when i dyed my hair and was too lazy to clean out the bowl i used... and a after a few weeks it had a metallic green tint on it

Realism is good for developing your cartoony style so you know how to exaggerate stuff bc you know what stuff there is
I have a very cartoony style but I changed styles so now I have a more real style, I draw wolves ALOT and now they look more real and I’m happy with it :)

Kesey, you can use a white gel pen to reach the white outline around the character. It mostly helps to separate the foreground from the background when there are lots of similar color. Plus in this art piece it would make something like energy shield for your character, idk X))
I think that 'violet' would fit really well for the shell of a beetle. The metallic green and purple would look really cool 🙂

it's like concentrated powdered dye. As the powder, it's a colour but when you dip your brush in water, it turns another colour! it's very very cool

8:40 i haven't run into this issue with mine but the best way to stop it is avoid thick layers. when condensed tightly it turns back to the pan color, it's mean to be more dispersed. Make sure to thin it out so it can properly activate and not just stick to the paper

I love Sap Green for nature paintings. I had issues finding it when I did some acrylic painting so I went with “Hooker” Green instead, a good substitute but I laugh at the name every time. Anyone know how it came to be called that?

I just I find that chain of facts fun and funny.

In fountain pen inks, when thick ink dries down they tend to "sheen" in a color opposite to it on the color wheel. Purple inks sheen green (see Diamine Velvet Rose), blue inks sheen magenta (Organics Studios Nitrogen), green inks sheen burgundy (Troublemaker ink Salome), red inks sheen Gold etc.
