  • Deano gets his fox calls from: bestfoxcall.co.uk/
In this episode of Shooting & Country TV, Sporting Shooter contributor Deano Harrison demonstrates a rage of fox calling sounds and techniques, and offers a wealth of information on the subject of fox calling and the types of calls available.
From calling foxes with your hand, to the best time of year for fox calling, to the ideal areas to use your calls, Deano offers a comprehensive, no-nonsense guide to getting it right.
In his own words, Deano is not "a tackle tart", and prefers to keep it simple. So, everything in this video can be replicated for free or for the cost of a small caller. Check out the Best Fox Call website which has options from as little as £5

Great video tutorial Deano! It's one of the best and most informative video I have seen about fox shooting! Congratulation! You explained it in a very detailed way providing a lot of different scenarios. Most fox shooting videos on CZcams only show the killing but very few shooters bother to show or to explain the set up for the shooting. I am a great fan of your fox shooting articles on the Sporting Shooter magazine. Well done!

Nothing wrong with Old Traditionalists . Electronics is great , while the power lasts - cold nights kill batteries very quickly so isn't reliable . Excellent advice .Thanks , Shoot Straight Stay Safe & Stay Well .

One thing I have noticed is that because the electric calls can be 'identical' (not just similar), then if you are near another shooter's permission, the older foxes (that will roam over several miles) can become very educated to a particular pre-recorded sound. Once they have a near miss with a particular call it seems to become tattooed into their minds as a danger sound. So whilst 'you' may not have missed the fox using that call, somebody else may have and that's it... that call can be ruined.
The same doesn't seem to be quite as bad with the manual calls as we all produce a slightly differing tone.
Good video... would be interested in your view on 'laying bait' when and what sort etc.

Thanks very much for your feedback and for your suggestion for another video... laying bait will be covered soon :) And yes, they definitely "learn" from being missed!
