    This looks super easy! I'm putting it on my list to try this summer when my house gets warmer! We were really drinking kombucha for a while there and I think we'd drink it more if we had it at home!

    Ooooo I'm so happy to finally see how this is done! I left if for a long time because I didn't want to buy a scoby, but now I see that you can make your own kind of like a sourdough starter.. Yah! I will have to try this for a nice summer drink :)

      I'm wondering if you can make kombucha with dandelion tea after it's been matured? Now I'm intrigued!

    Thank you for this. Very interesting that it took only two weeks' to form a scoby. I started mine a week ago, and was expecting to wait a month, by which time, the original ferment would probably be too strong to enjoy, as you did with your two week ferment. Here's hoping.

    • @shemamswithoils
      @shemamswithoils  Před rokem +3

      It only takes about three weeks to grow a Scoby. Once the Scoby is ready you will need to start a new kombucha. The tea used to grow a Scoby needs to be discarded. Only keep what u need to start a new fermented tea.

      @@shemamswithoils Thank you for coming back. Would you please tell me why the tea used to grow a scoby needs to be discarded? I have actually started drinking some.

    • @shemamswithoils
      @shemamswithoils  Před rokem +1

      @@gracecotton9819 hello again. As I explain in the video, the first kombucha you brew, that is to say the one used to grow your scoby, needs to be discarded. It is not safe to drink it. It has been sitting in the jar for a few weeks, but the amount of good bacteria in it are not sufficient to keep it "safe for drinking". Please do discard it. Only save 1 cup of it as a starter tea for your first brew. Hope this helps.

    I’m so sad 😢I just noticed my scoby has tiny little white worms. I need to start all over again. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

      @shemamswithoils  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Definitely discard it! Please do not ever risk it. It’s just not worth it. Start all over again and follow my steps. Keep the jar away from direct heat and sunlight and make sure all tools are squeaky clean before u use them. Let me know how u get on and best of luck!
