This is one of their best episodes. Obscure movies and they liked all of them. RIP Siskel & Ebert

2 days in the valley is one of the best movies of the 90s. Give it a chance

I came here to see their review of "Secrets and Lies," one of my favorite films of all time, and was delighted to see that they also reviewed "Extreme Measures" and "Caught," of which I am a big fan as well. I saw "Extreme Measures" on opening night and could never understand how it didn't become a big hit, especially as it was released during Grant's golden period. It's tense and believable and actually thought-provoking. As for "Caught," I don't know anyone who has ever seen it. It's a truly overlooked gem. Such great performances and a twisty narrative which is not at all predictable. I have recommended it to so many people. If you have seen and appreciated "Caught," then I highly recommend you seek out "Lantana," which shares many of its virtues.

      Same here.
      1. Secrets and Lies - the film that made Mike Leigh become noticed in Hollywood despite having produced a strong ouevre for more than a decade 👍👍
      2. 2 Days in a Valley - Charlize Theron is in the poster of this derivative and uninteresting film of vignettes set in San Francisco Valley 👎
      3. Extreme Measures - an involving thriller with shades of 1978's Coma, stylishly helmed by Michael Apted 👍
      4. Caught - saw it in HBO in 1998 for the first time, this well-acted movie features Maria Conchita Alonso and Arie Verveen in an illicit affair (with predictable results). The plot is nothing new though. 👎

    I love The Butcher's Wife! It's neither a knee-slapping comedy nor a tear-jerking drama, just a simple fantasy/romance that works.

Extreme Measures was quite effective, and Grant was the reason.

Secrets and Lies - the third best film of 1996 for me. 👍👍
Extreme Measures - a preposterous "thriller" with a miscast and unappealing Hugh Grant in the lead. 👎👎
Caught - Maria Conchita Alonso gave a touching performance in this "The Postman Always Rings Twice"-like drama. Predictable yet involving. 👍

I'm glad they liked Extreme Measures. I always thought it was a great thriller, and Hugh Grant's performance was underrated.

I just rewatched 2 Days in the Valley after years. I thought it sucked and felt like a wanna be Tarantino flick. Spader and Theron are the only reason to watch.
