15 years ago, we met these precious people we call our parents & they call us their kids. Amazing
how twas that we met & we know twas orchestrated by God. After we'd retired from USNavy in Phila, Pa & returned to Alaska to live. We were new to the area of Fairbanks & weren't sure if we'd be
living here for; prior to our coming here to visit our sister, Princess Di (who was here living w/her daughter, Zkmain who was in USArmy stationed at FT Wainwright at the time) our plans were to retire & go on to Canada where my bro & family lives. Couldn't wait to go to Canada until 1 day God gave us a clear sign FBKS, AK was where we were going to be, live & do missions. We weren't ready for this but didn't disobey God's plan for us. How did God show us his plan for us- FBKS, AK?
Well, twas days after when we had decided to flight out & go to Anchorage, Alaska to visit friends we had when we were stationed on the Island of ADAK prior to going on to CANADA. We never made it Fairbanks, AK got swamped w/an unbelievable snowstorm. Not only this but, the temp was -70 degrees below & to our surprised demise; our flights had been cancelled. You probably guessed it we were now stranded. We ended up lodging at a hotel on Eilson AFB waiting for God to fix the weather situation. Well, while waiting 1 day we met a realtor, "Russo Realty" very kind to us & even offered to have us travel around FBKS w/him as he went from place to place showing properties to his clients. Something crazy happened! We ended up liking a house that looked like Noah's Ark w/3 tiers of deck. Not thinking, we ended up giving deposit towards purchase of that home & putting it in escrow. Were happy about it all & now couldn't wait to get moving to start our new life FBKS, AK.
Long story made short, after that storm, we did take a flight back to Delaware & that's when we mentally woke up realizing what we had done. Anyway, days were passing & we told the pastor of church we'd been attending there what we had done. When they learned we had purchased home & not sold the one we had there; they were surprised & the church began praying for us. W/in the next two weeks, lots happened around the same time. USNavy scheduled packers arrived to pak out our home to get us moving on to retirement, we listed the house for sale, & proceeded to take care of other unfinished business. Wouldn't you know it that God sent a buyer to our home! God loves us!
We drove from Delaware all the way up to Minnesota, visited Rev Mel's brother (Mark) & his family for a day. The next day we got back on the road & a few hours out, I had begun feeling sickly, so we drove a bit further & ended up lodging at a Wagon Inn Hotel. This was terrible! The place was filled w/bed bugs & throughout the night we had to get up, go to the office tell them about it & get out of there as quick as we could. After getting out of there, we drove on to Minot N Dakota realizing that I
could go no further & now were losing time so; Rev Mel booked a flight to send me on ahead to FBKS, AK so my sister Princess Di could assist me to go to medical. After I boarded the flight, he left proceeded driving on to the Canadian border w/our 4 Cocker Spaniel fur pooches, household goods, etc. on a 5 days travel to Fairbanks, AK. It was a long "Chubby Chase movie-"Vacation" type-ride for him but by the grace of GOD, he made it. He drove the truck & trailer, picked me up & we went to our purchased property. Twas still in escrow, we were homeless but, God intervened & the owners of the property agreed to have us live in the house awaiting the closing of escrow. Amazing!
Flowing from this point, we settled in home, starting to do life & went out in search of a church for us to attend. Wings of Healing Mission was where we started attending. Rev Mel took a job & was employed by Holdiay Inn doing maintenance on the swimming pool & spas there. 1 day he met this couple who introduced themselves as drivers for the President of the USA; transporting cars from place to place to meet up w/him. From this, Rev Mel invited them to the church & there we learned that they were also traveling missionaries so, you probably guessed that we right away connected w/them. Over the yrs & thru many happenings in both our lives, God kept us together as friends & family. Thanks for listening to our testimony about God's plan in our lives! Have a wonderful day!
