Ashley is a soil scientist who has had a passion for plants since she was a small child. In the long summers as a child, she would garden alongside her grandmother and it was then that she realized her love for greenery. With years of great studying, Ashley had begun her post-secondary education at the University of Saskatchewan.
At first, her second love, animals, was the career path she chose but while doing her undergrad she realized that her education would take her elsewhere. And with that, four years later she graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a bachelor’s degree in science and a major in Soil Science.
Some of Ashley’s interests are CZcams, in which she posts informative videos about plants and gardening. The focus of Ashley’s CZcams channel is to bring science to gardening in a way that is informative but also helpful to others learning to garden. She also talks about the importance of having your own garden and the joys of gardening indoors. Ashley continues to study plants in her free time and hopes to expand her CZcams channel as well as her reach to up and coming gardeners.

When I use plastic pots, I always insert a little air hose at the bottom and those slits so there is oxygen bubbling up through the root system when I water. When the water quits bubbling, I know that it is sufficiently aerated. my plants always do really well when I do this.

Another good one. So there are actually 16 nutrients that we can spoon feed the plants? Well, unless you surprise us with something else!

Well, I know in Hydroponics, Oxygen Bubbles in the water help oxygenate the water and increases growth for sure. Good Video

you are very good at explaining this sort of thing. i appreciate that so very much. i had a question about oxygen. all over the internet it says that oxygen happens from the air pockets in the soil.
so this is a bit unclear to me now. do you plan to make a video on water and how the plant takes up the water and how the water that stays in the coir or peat still feeds the oxygen to the plant?
i am sorry if you made this video and i missed it. or if you have this information posted elsewhere. i also have a question about coir and how to know if it is moist or wet or almost dry and how long a soil should stay moist? also what is the ambient temperature? thank you.
