This is the reason why we need Zelda as a playable character in the main games
If Zelda becomes a playable character, then all of Zelda history will have no point and would completely be destroyed. The entire point of the game being created to begin with was to save her. However I do think that if a second game comes fourth after Totk, then Zelda should have at least a greater role in the story, not a "saving the princess" type thing.

Yeah. If it was not for Zelda getting everything setup for Link to save Hyrule he would have most likely failed. Plus thanks for her help at the end he won the fight. Heck in BOTW if her powers did not awaken like it did Link and all of Hyrule would have been lost forever. In OOT she helped Link from the shadows and guided him. So she has played roles before

Lots of the games aren’t even about saving Zelda, it’s more saving all hyrule, Zelda is just included.
I seriously hate how this video was ignored by the algorithm. This is quality animation. It was a little jarring to see Zelda be the elite fighter and not Link, but once I got past that I could see just how much love and effort was put into this project. And the facial expressions from shadow Zelda during the hug? *Chef's kiss* You really have talent and we will be watching your career with great interest!
Imo zelda is just as capable as link it's just nintendo always wants her to be a damsel and link the knight in shiny armor, an age old trope im honestly tired of seeing. The warriors spinoffs at least did her much more justice and gave her far more agency much like her spirit tracks incarnation which i liked.
But ya most times she's always getting saved in her own franchise when it's clear she can do so much more. Besides ppl see link fight all the time it's refreshing seeing zelda have more agency and being more competent for once imo. The series is literally called THE LEGEND OF ZELDA.
@@azuredream9032 I think in a lot of the more recent games, Zelda has shown to be anything but a damsel in distress. Largely starting with Spirit Tracks, which had her directly taking part in Link's adventure, followed by Skyward Sword, where Link had his adventure, and Zelda had her own. They were on two different paths. After that was Botw, which focused a lot on Zelda's struggle to live up to other past incarnations of the character in order to summon the power to seal evil, to which she finally did, though it was up to Link to defeat the evil. Afterwards is Totk where she REALLY gets down to business and is largely the reason why you are able to defeat Ganondorf in the first place.
You have some games like Phantom Hourglass where she is the definition of damsel in distress, but you also have games where she takes charge and really proves herself worthy of being the main name of the series. I think that is fine.
@@LoinkLoink Ya in some of the titles u mentioned she plays a bigger or more important role but at the end of the day it's either still from the shadows and is mostly just calculated planning to set things in motion which is good but imo I'd like a more active role, and most of those planned ideas happens long before we start our journey or off screen and she doesn't get enough screentime or agency she still ends up needing to be saved regardless and that's my biggest issue with her character as far as most of the main games goes.
Spirit tracks, Age of calamity, and even the original Hyrule warriors are games that displayed MUCH better agency from her and she played a far more active and bigger role alongside link. Especially in age of calamity and wasn't a damsel that needed saving, they worked together and she took charge like how an ACTUAL soon to be queen should.
@@azuredream9032 You're missing the point of the dynamic. You don't want Zelda, you want an OC named Zelda. You only see what Link is doing because you're playing as Link, so yeah, it looks like Zelda is in the shadows.
You want to play as Zelda, that's valid. But don't try and undercut the existing dynamic of the clash of power, wisdom, and courage just because you want the franchise to be something it's never been.
@@Wing0Alchemist The point is that nintendo reason for not wanting to make zelda a main heroine in place of link position is because they feel that HE will then become near useless but that's far from the truth and is an incredibly silly reason imo since he can still work alongside her with huge agency like he did in the warriors games as well as in st. And u can still have the dynamic and have zelda have a more active role in the games. Also zelda IS an original AND THE TITULAR character of the franchise. Nobody is undercutting anything except nintendo with their own TITULAR character because they're stuck in that white knight gender role mentality.
That prolonged hug is the reason Zelda is the (future) ruler of Hyrule. Ferocity tempered with “I just need to get to you so you can heal and be free”. What an excellent leader.

I really liked the symbolism and the way this medium allows for a different take on a "dark character" fight with how Zelda doesn't defeat her shadow by destroying it, but by accepting and embracing it as a part of herself. The doubts and fear it embodies aren't gone, but Zelda is still capable of moving forward and focusing on her goals. Really great animation, and I loved the insight into Zelda's character.
This has the same energy as a RWBY fight!

Has anyone played Resident Evil Series. In the beginning you can play with Claire Redfield or Leon Kennedy. And the game switches disc and character at precise intervals. You get to see what each one goes through at the same time they are not together. Something like this would be a really kool story for Link and Zelda... I commented cause your comment reminded me of that gameplay... God bless and "You shall seek me and find me when you shall search with all your heart" - Jesus Christ God Almighty.
@@dallor09In Spirit Tracks, Link and Zelda does actually go on a quest together with Zelda herself as a spirit being Link's companion and friend for the remainder of the journey. Nevertheless, I'd like to see something similar in future Zelda games!
Also in breath of the wild he died protecting her. She won the battle and had him taken to the shrine of resurrection (saving him) and then went on to drop the master sword off at the great deku tree and then solo ganon to hold him back for a century with limited success. The whole story behind breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom the power of love and friendship and that you don't have to do it all on your own.
We all know how that ended the first time. (Looking at you wand of gamalan)

I've always felt zelda would be an interesting character to explore just because she's often implied to be basically a demigod. Throughout the games she's been shown briefly fighting alongside link multiple times with the bow of light, implied to be fighting against gannons forces as a ninja, keeping the calamity gannon held down for 100 years, fighting alongside the champions against the demon king. But as nintendos said, if zelda ever became the main character, link would have nothing to do.

I was grinning like an idiot watching it, it’s *so* damn cool. And then I almost cried during the hug. ow my feelings.
The animation is SUPERB, the fighting choreography is SPECTACULAR, and the feelings were powerful. Only problem is that is makes me crave more Zelda content (as in the franchise and the CHARACTER) like *this.*
Seriously I’m repeating myself here but the animation does such a good job of capturing major and minor movements. The action has SO much energy, and the actual battle moves used are smart and creative (THE WAY ZELDA USES HER BOW IS SO. COOL.), but the more subtle emotions like when Dark Zelda gives in the hug, are just as pronounced and beautiful.

Holy smokes, this was amazing. That move with the shield deflecting that blast so Zelda could shoot the Master Sword like an arrow into her double absolutely floored me.
I'm imagining that somehow Zelda set this in motion by accident-- maybe by opening a cursed spellbook? Or else we're dealing with a powerful wizard who like, pulled darkness from the denizens of hyrule's hearts to make evil copies of them? Maybe this time Link was caught in the crossfire so badly he's out of the adventure, leaving Zelda to pick up the slack. Man, so cool.

Overall beautiful and dynamic. The effects are incredible. The sequencing and boarding for the fight is spectacular. There's a few instances where the facial expression wasn't dynamic enough to convey the beats and moments, but it was only a few shots. Incredible.

I always like these little animations. The idea of Zelda being able to also wield the Master Sword has always crossed my mind and has nearly been proven in both BoTW and ToTK as it does speak to her just the same as it speaks to Link. I mean, she is the Goddess reincarnated and should be able to use it.
Also the act of comforting a fallen foe does seem like something Zelda would do as she has always seemed to be one for kindness.

Given how the plot of BotW was about the heroes failing in the past and everything being messed up, i always thought it would have been an interesting idea if they also reversed the roles of Zelda and Link. Have Link be the one who sacrifices himself to hold off Ganon for 100 years. Have Zelda wake up after and deal with her guilt of being the one who planned it all and got her friends killed. Have her struggle against her insecurities of not being the legendary hero and therefore unsure if she's even capable of wielding the master sword, etc...
