EHX engineer on their Reddit page said outright, this pedal is the exact same as regular Electric Mistress, part for part, exact same circuit. I love Andy Summers, he's the reason I picked up guitar to begin with, but I'm not paying more an EH flanger, just because his name is on it.
I think I saw that Reddit thread as well. We asked EHX directly and they said that the the WOTM is the same as the Electric Mistress but uses a different bucket brigade IC as compared to what they historically used on the Deluxe Electric Mistress. And I completely understand on not getting another flanger if it is basically the same circuit of one you already own. On the other hand if you are looking for a flanger or if you always wanted an Electric Mistress like @georgegreen8836 said, this one is cheaper 😉
We talked to EHX and they told us this: Yes, the WOTM is the same as the Electric Mistress but uses a different bucket brigade IC as compared to what we historically used on the Deluxe Electric Mistress.
The last revision of the DEM XO before EHX rebranded it to the current Walking on the Moon flanger uses an Xvive MN3009 chip instead of the Reticon 1506, and the circuit was changed to a five-trimpot layout from the traditional four found in earlier EMs. My guess is that the Walking on the Moon flanger retained the latest circuit from the final batch of DEM XOs, until EHX decides to change things up again, of course...
On the subject of trimpots, you can adjust them as a lot of EM owners have. There should be a Blend trimpot (labeled "Null") which controls the wet mix of the effect. For some reason it isn't turned all the way up in factory specs, but you can turn this one all the way up and it should make the pedal sound lusher. You can also adjust the Color trimpot down a little bit if you don't want the pedal to self-oscillate at higher settings, as well as the Range trimpot to get rid of the squealing on Filter Matrix settings (although doing this also will change the range of the flanger sweep)
The high pitched filter matrix sound is a problem for me- I think ehx were lazy about not solving that. High end recreations of this circuit like PastFx offer, do not have any of those squealing issues, just takes attention and time they didn't want to spend. Cool sounds and great video
I have an XO and a big box v5. This is a problem that started with the XO, probably with the new chip and circuit. You can fix the squealing issue by opening up the pedal and turning the Clock trimpot CCW a bit. This will raise the frequency of the sweep, but the squeal will disappear. The lowest Clock setting on the v5 is still higher than the factory setting on the XO, so you are actually making your pedal sound a bit closer to the older models with this adjustment.
Is there a noticeable volume drop when the pedal is on? I like using flangers for guitar solos but I've found half the time they make guitar leads sound quieter if you're using the wrong flanger
Blackbird Pedalboards solderless cable kit, but unfortunately, they’re no longer in business. However, I’ve seen that Beetronics FX offers a similar product!
Sorry for the late reply, we've been busier than usual. This time for the Playthrough and the Demo Jam we used the Seymour Duncan Power Stage 700 amp. We also use EEIDI FX Dreivoost pedal to warm up de signal. The Dreivoost is a boost that has a tube inside and it can be used to warm up your tone when going solid-state amp. Sometimes for the demo jam song some of the guitars we record them using the EHX MIG 50.
Not baked, just super tired. Sometimes we stay up working on these videos till 1 or 2 AM because that's when we have the chance to work on it. I guess I'll have some coffee next time lol
Love it. Spent a fortune on expensive flangers that after hours of tweaking almost does The sound. And this instantly does The thing. Awesome.
Neesless to say, I ordered it within a minute of listening. Really looking forward to try this one out.
Great work by javier aponte, skill full and great feel on the drums.
This is better than Andy Summers’s own demo of this. Thanks, now I’m buying it.
Super nice this video, there are a lot of good music in the police discography , I love walking in your footsteps, and spirits in the material world.
Wrapped around your finger is my fave by the police

It’s $50 cheaper than the deluxe electric mistress

Very bad sound.
I have the stereo electric mistress and it doesn’t get close to this sound
@@vio2696it sounds really great to my ear. Possibly the way you play could make it better. It wasn’t that great of a demo.
Favorite Police song: Can't Stand Losing You
Ooh this is a good one too. I love everything on it guitar, bass, drums and those changes for each song section 🙌
Mine too❤️🔥
11:59... wonderful
Sounds good. I’d love to hear how this differs from the regular EM.
It's the same circuit inside

As for my favorite Police song: Driven to Tears!
That one has a cool solo 😎

What patch cable is connected from the EHX pedal to the gold JHS pedal?
A Blackbird Pedalboards Solderless Patch Cable
@@thepedalcouple Thanks! Great review of the pedal, by the way.
