Wow! As always- amazing! As a huge Police, Andy Summers, Walking on the Moon and Tim Pierce fan, this is scintillating ear candy! Thanks for sharing, Tim.
Hey Tim, great video, the sounds are awesome! Next time you're at LA Sound Design maybe ask about the Alex Lifeson - Moving Pictures inspired board, love to know more about that!
I know you’re the “studio” guy now, but I would love to see you rock out like this live! Amazing tone and WOW, your touch and feel really came out in this video. Awesome!
I used to have an Electric Mistress back in the day. (yes I'm old) I also had the CE-1 Chorus and the Electro Harmonix Big Muff among others. Damn...we are never granted the foresight to know to hang on to this stuff.
I'm old too. On the plus side I do still have the Big Muff Pi I bought around 1978. On the negative side, I don't still have Peter Green's modified Marshall head, which I got around the same time but being a teenage dickhead I sold a year later. Stuff of nightmares....
This series is awesome Tim-please keep em coming (as you have time outside of session work, family commitments etc.)! You’re a machine (do you ever sleep?). Seriously, I have a request I know you’d be able to fulfill. If it sounds interesting to you: I’d love to see you explore some of Rick Neilson’s guitar work w cheap trick? Specifically how he approaches his solos. I’ve had so much trouble deciphering what he’s doing to play (what sounds like a simple/basic) outro solo on the song “Goodnight”. It’s tasteful, aggressive and he makes it sound effortless (which for me typifies his style). Would you do a mini lesson on the outro/solo on Cheap Trick’s “Goodnight”? Thx for expanding my playing and serving up such fantastic content! Cheers
Tim killing it, as usual. Yeah, those Jesse Davey pedals… cool vintage w a modern take. I have that fuzz..Dialing it in & combined w other pedals is a fun tonal experience !!
Joining Tim Pierce Guitar is the smartest thing I have done to improve my guitar skills and music education. Tim is one of the most skilled, educated, knowledgeable, guitar players on the planet. The best thing about him is his super personality, it makes all the difference in the world when you chose a teacher to learn from. You are not just a number, he really cares about the progress you make. Thanks.
So you're saying that when I join the masterclass Tim personally checks my progress and gives personal advice? That IS a game changer, as I am really thinking of joining but think I need more guidance or coaching than just a bunch of very well made video tutorials to make faster progress...
Hi Vincent - the Master Class is different than other online courses that I've used in the past. Though what VonBluesman wrote is true, it's important not to read too much into it. Does Tim care about the members of the class? - Yes. Will he give personal advice? - Yes, if you ask. Does he continually ask the members for what they want to see? - yes. But, it would be incorrect to think you'll have a private instructor with whom you'll have a continual "back-and-forth" communication. It would be virtually impossible to work full time, have a social media footprint and individually teach each student. That's simply not the business model of online instruction. But, with that written, Tim has been more available for advice than any online instructor with whom I've worked. I've been in the Master Class for 2 years and would recommend it to anyone who want to understand the craft of guitar with respect to making songs sound professional. It's what he does best. Definitely worth a 2- week try. Good luck
Awesome video Mr. Pierce! Instead of a "pedal you need" I have a "guitar you need": It's a DeArmond M-75. They're dirt cheap (~$400-$500 with a hard case, used). You'll be blown away. I first got turned on to em by a sessions friend of mine in nashville and, oh man it's outstanding! The pickups almost sound like gold foil pickups, that sort of space between single coil and humbucker. Definite must own! Thanks for you video Tim! You're the man!
Damn - that pedalboard absolutely nails Andy's tone - so important to have that version of the Mistress though. That is THE tone. Dyna Comp and the Echoplex are #2 and #3. You could practically play the whole Police catalogue with just those 3, and yet he still made that sound so diverse! Amazing player, was very cool to see both the guys relishing those effects and riffs.
I can definitely vouch for the Jesse Davey pedals. I own the Duellist, and it’s so worth the investment. I don’t think it’s ever coming off my pedal board.
Hah! I was wondering only yesterday if Tim also plays bass and if he may even have done bass sessions - and now _this_ video showed up in YT's recommendations, after watching a whole bunch of other ones related to 'Walking On The Moon'! 😁👍

I would never dare to correct the great Tim Pierce, but Andy Summers shows the correct voicing of the Dm11 chord in his recent interview with Rick Beato.
I had an Electric Mistress in the late 70's, early 80's playing a lot of Police and Rush, but the OP amp on the PCB was flaky and I had to replace it multiple times. Eventually moved on to a CE-2 and a Tycobrae pedal flanger with manual sweep. The Tycobrae was cool but noisy!
Wow... Pierce you win again ba$&@#d... You distracted me from my "how dare you $%$#$# bass playing #$@% " rant and totally blew my mind with this particular offering. Andy is in my top tier of guitar love and you have really nailed tones and vibe. Ridiculous fun yet again and for free people!!! Why ???? Because somehow Tim Pierce loves us! Thank goodness...
Wow. The sound they dialed in on Electric Mistress sounds spot on to the original recording!
I love how after all those years of playing guitar you still look like a little giddy kid when playing. 👍
Your modern version of Walking on the Moon was awesome! Would love to hear the extended version and mix of that.
Great job Tim!!!
Andy Summers is my man!!!!
Love those effects!!!!
Wow! As always- amazing! As a huge Police, Andy Summers, Walking on the Moon and Tim Pierce fan, this is scintillating ear candy! Thanks for sharing, Tim.
Sounds really cool Tim. I love these 80s clean tones, they sound brilliant.
Hey Tim, great video, the sounds are awesome! Next time you're at LA Sound Design maybe ask about the Alex Lifeson - Moving Pictures inspired board, love to know more about that!
Yes!!!
A big YES also from me! 😀 Summers and Lifeson are at the top of my list of favourite players 😊
I know you’re the “studio” guy now, but I would love to see you rock out like this live! Amazing tone and WOW, your touch and feel really came out in this video. Awesome!
The saturated bass sounds huge on the intro

u can get a mistress for maybe $250. + the Retrosonic + Roxanne flangers are clones. Hartman too i guess but it doesnt sound the same.
Dave is a genius! I feel like I'm in the sound paradise! Thank you very much Tim - this is absolutely great!
Tim is simply enthralled with the sound here, it is GLORIOUS to watch!!!

Wow! I loved those sounds. What a cool pedal board. That fuzz was something else 👍👏
What a tremendous show Tim Pierce! Great guest.

Beato sent me... Iove that glassy summers tone, and bluesy ripping had me making "guitar faces" while watching. Subbed.

Love the J Tyler axe, sounds great! The Tele was sweet to!
That touch man, Tim's amazing!
Tone heaven!
Very enjoyable episode Tim! Keep 'em coming!

Great video, I'm looking forward to more in this series..
So awesome, Dave seems to know all the juicy details about the classic rigs. Really enjoyed this!
There is nothing in the world as good as playing with other peoples gear!!! Gives you so many ideas...
Great, wonderful video. That is a fantastic setup. I am working on two boards in my studio know. Keep on picking and jamming out.
Original Ibanez tube screamer, fulltone supa-trem, boss vb-2 vibrato & tu-2 tuner, and hendrix cry-baby wah is all i need. Fun for the whole family. 😉
LOL such a ridiculously great video.... Tim + L.A. Sound design for a studio god masterclass. Cheers guys.
Huge sound, great video!!
Sooo interesting...highly appreciated dear Mr. Pierce
You are having way too much fun! Wish I were there!

This is all in mono right? Also any clue on the order of the comp/flanger etc? Thanks
Excellent information! I'm a huge Police/Sting/Andy Summers junkie, so I'm eating this up
OUTSTANDING!!!
Tim...... omg, Thanks.. you’re an inspiration ...
Loved this one Tim. I like the look & sound of that ASAT as well, will we be seeing any more of this one?
Thanks Tim and Dave, nice playing, nice sounds....lucky new owner!!!.......
The look Tim gives when he hits the chord at 5:10 says it all. He is "Walking on the Moon".
Awesome Tim, thanks.
😀
dope playing + tones
I need to go to the bathroom. Dammmm Tim. Off the charts brother. Ridiculous. Love it
I can't help but smile watching him play! If he keeps practicing he will be as good as me one day! Yea i meant that the other way round!
Layering in the magic!
great sounds and playing thanks :)
Now that’s what I like to hear!
Killin on bass too
Amazing guitarist and great guy
I love Tim Pierce and Andy Summers 🇦🇷
Awesome....love your videos and this is outstanding....I am now on the hunt for the electric mistress.
David is an awesome pedal board designer. If I only had the money. Lol... his wiring is incredible!
Thank you.
I can definitely vouch for the Jesse Davey pedals. I own the Duellist, and it’s so worth the investment. I don’t think it’s ever coming off my pedal board.
😊👍,
One of my Police favorites.

😁👍
Very cool. Bonus: R Trower.
The rage against the machine version !the bass is wicked heavy, some boss Octave 2 with orange bangeetar preamp!
I always suspected he used a boss dc-2 or the dimension rack unit but a electric mistress makes sense. Great video. Thanks
This comment has three parts. I can't stop watching this... my obsession with Pierce 's bass sound is leveling me... ba$#@%d!
Hey Tim, I love all your videos! When you record with pedals, how do you track them separately from the dry guitar?
King tone honestly make the best pedals
Great!
Tim, Rocking Danocaster
You are fucking awesome, I was looking exactly for this!
Tim is a Beast!
Tim is The Best!
WOW !!!
😳🤘🏻😳🤘🏻
🔥
9:20 on the money
4 Years Old Video But Still Great!
Just saw that you played on Roger waters Amused to death. wow what a great album got to love ep3s i wont play without it
John F one of my favourite albums for sure.
What song did he play on??
@@jadipeperzak4034 ... what god wants, part 1, bravery of being out of range, three wishes, according to the internet, so take that for what it is worth
John F thanks!! I’ll check it out right now!
Like 852 for you !!! Great job and nice performance!!! Good sound !!
Tim - are you tuned down a half step or playing this in D minor? Great video, thanks!
That's an Electric Mistress version 2. No level markings around the knobs. Circa 1977.
That Tyler is taken a "wupin" but is hanging tough.. #Impressed with Tylers!
Tastyyyyyy!!!
Nice! What are the settings on the mxr Dynacomp for Walking on the moon?
It was a CE-3 in 1983
I just saw it on the ATL video.
I would never dare to correct the great Tim Pierce, but Andy Summers shows the correct voicing of the Dm11 chord in his recent interview with Rick Beato.
oh no worries I was just playing what I wanted to play... Have a great holiday
hearing Dave Philips talk = a religious experience
Any guitar pedal that takes its name from David Foster Wallace's thousand-page novel, "Infinite Jest," has got to sound like something unique
9:28 sounds great
Great show. The playing sounded more like 80s Rush than Police, which in my book is a plus :-)
You need to copyright that riff at 18:20! That was insanely good!
Movin Out by Aerosmith. It was on their first album.
This reminds me of Sting in the early 90s. Almost as if Sting had re-recorded the song.
Wow... Pierce you win again ba$&@#d... You distracted me from my "how dare you $%$#$# bass playing #$@% " rant and totally blew my mind with this particular offering. Sounded great... I didn't like the subby bass tho.
Is the order you described the Andy Summers pedals the correct or same chain order ?
No. Not sure how Cornish configured them in the pedalboard.
glorious sounds!
too bad the whole Police vibe went down the drain after Sting went solo.
Where do you find tape for the Echoplex?
www.orbitelectronix.com/products.htm
Am I alone who thumbs up Tims stuff after only 5 seconds ? :)
Ehx put up a video walking on the moon 18 seconds ago....lol😊
With Andy Summers, no less
It’s been a haard da... woops wrong band
Why did Andy say in the Rick Beato interview there was no delay on Walking On The Moon? Only reverb and chorus.
Yeah, I noticed that…I’m assuming it was added after it was recorded 🤷🏻♂️
How do I go about getting the Leslie west sound.
Les Paul Jr into Sunn Coliseum P.A. Heads
Andy echoplex was placed before or after od and flanger ?
After. Delays and reverb at the end of chain is a good rule of thumb
*OMG, can you guys please put sound gobos on the walls to tame that room?*
Hi, I know Electric Mistress is a noisy pedal, are you guys using noise suppresor?
Nope.
Awesome! Curious how you go about combating the Electric Mistress volume drop? Thanks!
Normally with a boost after or before the Flanger. In this case we used the Dynacomp to boost the level.
Do you put the dynacomp at the end of the chain for the summers tone ? I’ve heard some people say they do that
@@seandyer4151 I put it first.
Heh...Summers..great period in music....
Tim, do you find yourself using more 48khz than 44khz when working for clients?
Man more Rock and Roll!
