Josh, I'm not a pilot. I've never flown a plane before but I am a huge aviation enthusiast. I had my first ride in a small plane when I was very young. I loved it. I'm not sure why your channel came onto my CZcams must watch list, but I am so glad that it did. I have watched them all. Your trip to Alaska made me go out and buy a 4K tv so I could watch the Prince Edward Sound trip in all of it's splendor. It did not disappoint!!!! In fact, I've watched it a number of times! I have enjoyed all of your videos and anxiously await the next one. I can't think of anybody else that deserved that spot at the Garmin booth at Oshkosh! Truly awesome!!!!! Can't wait to see the next video! Hopefully all of your fans will get to see what we all think needs to happen!!!!! Congratulations on a great channel and I do apologize for the long post!
12:00 Fly-in meetup in Chicago? So much great food there.
I'm totally in!!!
Let's set it up! Pretty sure a few other aviation CZcamsrs would join in. @@Highmaintenance_chels
I'm disappointed I didn't get to swing by and meet you and Chelsea at one of the meet and greets. I was stuck in the booth working but did get some time during lunch to swing by the Garmin booth and stick my head in 80991. It was surreal seeing inside in person when i've spent hours seeing it on screen. The panel was amazing.
Awesome! That’s crazy how close you were to us! I was one of the Chinook pilots on the Boeing Plaza! Too bad I just discovered you or I would have definitely stopped by and said hello! Maybe next year!
The quality of the audio and video never ceases to amaze me. Well done Josh.
Nice fishing skills Chelsea!
Thanks for taking us along.
Congrats Josh, I know how proud you must have felt seeing 80991 in that scenario. Chelsea sure is cute! I'd keep her if I were you !!
Great to meet you there at the Garmin tent, Josh!
This video is awesome! Being a resident Wisconsinite who wishes to become an airline pilot, I must say that going to EAA Airventure has been a bucket list activity for me for YEARS.
Saw your plane at Garmin. Nice panel! I remember when you were exited about the dual G5s and I was jealous. Seems so long ago. Local Chicago pilot out of 06C so if you do make it into town hit me up for a tour of some of my favorite views and eats.
I got to go to Oshkosh for my first time the last weekend of 23! Got to see N80991! Got a chance to complement Chelsea on the great addition & complement she is to your channel!!!!! Thank you for all you do!!! Hope to see you down the road!!!
Currently awaiting favorable weather to finish my training in a PPC towards acquiring my sports license.
I geeked out when I saw Stevie from Bayflight in montage at the end.
Nice vid bud! Glad you called out the new Midway Charlie Airspace right after Navy Pier (southbound) too. After flying all over the USA, Chicago Center and Approach on 133.5 / 120.55 is an incredible group of controllers. Best in the nation IMO. You are always welcome in Chicago! Congrats again on a great OSH - Stay Level 🤙
One of your best videos. Makes me feel like family. Good job
Look how cute 991 looks sitting next to the Dream Lifter.
I've been watching Josh since the days of him renting the cessna 152's always enjoyed his content as a viewer from the U.K, keep up the good work Josh ready for many more years of video's.
First oshkosh for me. I'm not a pilot (yet?) but love aviation. I didn't get a chance to say "hi" as you both were busy, but it was great to see your plane up close! Keep up the content, it's great!
Great video Josh! Seeing the full-circle journey from your first Oshkosh to being on display at the Garmin booth is inspiring. It was great seeing you and @FlyWithBruno and we can't wait until next year!
Wonderful video Josh! So glad Air Venture was another success for you! Congratulations! Appreciate you and your channel! My personal best always for you! Mark in KAWG Iowa.
Was my third time, did several things differently. For one we arrived early and got an excellent spot in vintage. Every time we learn a little more and make it a better trip.
I've subscribed to many aviaton channels and you and Mike Patey are the best! I was actually just typing that when you said that you took over his spot. Awesome turn of luck for you to get to display your plane. Keep up the great work!
Josh, having worked in a checklist-centric job within the USAF for almost 44 years and a new CFI/CFII, I have taken from your content an increased appreciation of checklist discipline using your detailed methodology. It is more than just the "do a step, get a banana" that I learned years ago. I also appreciate and use all of your notepad formats in my flying and flight instruction. Keep the content coming! Blue Skie & Tailwinds...John
I so love this. The personal story is so touching. Congratulations
We had a great time as well. It was great to visit with you and Chelsea a couple times. Until next year!
I've been following your channel since you went to flight school.
I can't say it often enough. thank you for taking us with you on this epic journey 🥰🥰🥰🥰👍💪
big greetings from germany 😉
Thank you for sharing your personal experiences Josh- great to hear how significant the 172 has been for both you and your father and how great to be prominently on display at Garmin. More than just the great aviation content, you always make it real!
It was great meeting you guys at Oshkosh 2023. It was my first trip there what a treat.
Josh, If you guys ever come to Chicago hit me up. I do Airport Operations at ORD and would love to give you guys a tour of the airfield and our Ops tower (old ATC tower) as well as the main ATC tower.
Your video skills are right up there with your piloting skills now Josh. Excellent work and content. One of your best assets is in the seat next to you, Chelsea. Safe travels and best wishes.
Wow! Such a great adventure! I could sense your pride of having your plane on display. I know how thrilled I would be if it were me! Thanks again for taking us along on y'all's awesome adventures. I love every minute of it and look forward to all of your beautiful and informative videos yet to be made. Thanks again!
3:06 Josh, it was so great having the chance to meet you at Osh. Meet you at Sun n Fun years ago as I said to you and this was my first Oshkosh at the age of 66. It was an awesome week!
Great work and something to be proud of
Excellent video and production with lots of heart, as always, Josh! Watching the evolution of your videos and career has been a joy and given hours of great entertainment, inspiration and education. Wasn’t able to make Oshkosh this year but hope to meet you in the future. I’m a musician/producer/engineer from Texas and currently flying a ‘55 Bonanza’s I resurrected from being parted out by the previous owner.
It was wonderful getting to see you as things were winding down as Chelsea and you were getting ready to move the lady off the display.
Enjoyed this excellent video...simply pure and visually elegant. Thanks.
Chelsea is definitely a famous face. I'd love to see your journeys that flying brings you. Really enjoyed the mackinaw island video and others like it!
Good recap of the trip, “ADVENTURE” I mean… 🤣🤓
For a while there I though you were going to Totally Diss Stevie for having TWO planes parked at the Garmin display, but we see you got her in one of t photos around 13:37 ish.😎👍👌
I really enjoy all your videos and always look forward to them. Although I'm no longer a current pilot, as you mentioned, I learned to fly in a 172 back in 1979. I owned a Piper Archer for a few years as part of a business venture while I was punting for the Denver Broncos. Eventually moved away form flying and sold the Archer. FYI - if your first Oshkosh was in 2013, this year is your 11th time attending.
Tnx. Josh, I like inspiring fellows !!
Didn't get to say hi to you this year like I usually do because it was soooo HOT and you had drawn such a long line. I did say Hi to Chelsey over by 991, and that was a treat. She is so nice. Glad Oshkosh was great for you. It was my least favorite because of the heat, but still great. Hope I get a chance to say Hi next year. Another great video. Hope you also make it back to Big Bear someday.
Oshkosh wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t have a chance to say hi to Josh. Glad to hear you had a great show!
Good morning from Minnesota!! Great episode!!
From circuits to this, incredible work keep it up
So cool watching you fly past the chicago skyline - we did the same from KATW after Oshkosh in 2019 back down to Mississippi - pretty special for someone that was brought up on flightsim and Chicago Meigs field was the default airfield! Thanks for sharing!
Great video man we appreciate the effort behind each video also!
I thought you were always planned to be at the Garmin booth! That's so awesome they reached out to you and had you pinch hit for Mike. Well done!
Great series Josh, thx man. BTW, at 007 right at the start, see Fly me to the fun's 150. It sure looks like theirs.
Excellent Chicago shots!
Hey Josh, I had a chance to stop and talk to you at Air Venture but I still believe what I told you there. Your videos are an inspiration and one of the main reasons I got into flying in the first place.
Great video Josh, you have come quite a long way since I first bumped upon your video when you were a young man.
As always, you produce quality, compelling content. PLEASE stop by the SUN 'n FUN Media Lab next spring during our 50th fly-in, for a tour. We're inside the Aerospace Center for Excellence. Oh, but a ring on her finger, she's a keeper.
Counting down the days! See y'all there :)
I was at Osh 23 for the whole week! I was so looking forward to meeting you all at the meet and greet. I was touring the Delta A350 and I was planning on stopping by Garmin afterwards but ended up being in the Airbus for 2 hours! Hopefully I can meet you all next year!
Cool to see 8991 in person. That Garmin panel is awesome. Quality of the install is impressive.
It was awesome to meet you at AirVenture, Thank You for all you do to encourage everyone to learn to fly.
The quality of your films is amazing.
It makes me so sad to see small airports get destroyed. nice vid!
Folks at future Air Ventures should organize big parades of fly-bys over Meigs as a way of thumbing our noses at what was done there. Not necessarily formation flights, but just one plane after another in quick succession passing by like you all did.
Awesome man!!
As a Chicago resident, it is an honor to hear such nice words said about this city. If y’all have not spent much time here, you absolutely should! If you like the skyline, be sure to do the architecture boat tour on the river; it is amazing. Thank you for the educational content.
I love Chicago! I've visited many times, so much to do, see, good food, and gooo cubbies :)
A personal favorite is the museum of science and industry!
What an enjoyable video, thank you for the great entertainment.
Very cool! I'm lucky to be doing my initial training in Chicago. Cool views around here.
Great video...thx
How darn awesome lad!
I've been watching you from virtually day one!
Osh24 is in calender. I shall make sure to come say hi and shake your hand!
Best from me Down Under in Middle Earth!
I went to the garmin tent to see Stevies two planes 0991 was a great bonus.
It was nice meeting you at my first stop on the way to Oshkosh. Appreciate your inspiration and education!
Please post more of your advanced photogenic content. ie: slow mo F35
Hot as heck…..had to hold tent up for hour while storms raged and water streamed in. More memories for the book. Said a quick hi to Josh at South 40 camper store.
Awesome!!!
We were parked and camping one row south of you guys in the S40! Got my IFR pad. Trying to get FF to allow custom templates.
Camp at Hillman's Ferry while at Ky Lake? Did you eat at Patti's 1880s? If not, it is a "must do" on a return trip.
We did!!! Hillman's Ferry was awesome! Will have to go to Pattis next time!
It was nice seeing you guys at Dan’s Meet n Greet and awesome to see your plane on the plaza.
Nice to see you too!
I have had an interest in aviation from a very young age. Would love to have got my PPL, but due to cost, then health and finally old age I never got down to it, so, the next best thing was Microsoft Flight Sim. The default airfield in those days was Merrill C. Meigs Field. I spent many hours just flying between Meigs Field, Chicago-O'hare and Chicago Midway before realising I had the whole World to fly in. The latest version of Microsoft Flight Sim. did not have Meigs Field in it, so when Z Design Studios produced Merrill C. Meigs Field for MSFS 2020, I bought it. I have just completed an around the World flight (8th May 23 to 19th Aug 23 181 Airports) And I had to make Merrill C. Meigs Field one of the Airports. Another Great Vlog from the pair of you. I love your flight adventures. Thanks. Dave M.
I was excited to park next to N80991 in Llano today :-)
You should be proud!!!
One thing you didn't mention, as you were walking up to 80991, there was a "Transformer" with the engines half 'rotated' over the right wing and a "DreamLifter" just over the left!! How cool is that!! All 3 of ya'll in the same shot!! You don't see that every day!! LOL Congrats you guys!! 8) --gary
I was hoping to see a video from you any day now, my friend seen your plane when he was there
Agreed, there are two aspects to “social” and “media”. Content creators with a basic level of psychological awareness should know that there are many like me who are more on the introverted side, and we really like just your “media” content. We introverts might have been attending Airventure more times than years that you’ve been alive… we’ve camped in Scholler for decades while exposing our wife and kid to the greatest show on earth, then we flew our PPGs for years down “on the farm” while camping on the grass strip by the ultralights, and recently we’re flying to Airventure in our VANS RVs and camping in HBC… alone, and still very much enjoying the show with hundreds of thousands of other EAAers without much socializing at all beyond the one or two people we’ve seen before, or the occasional group breakfast or airplane type dinner. We like your “media” content and ya, we put up with the “social” content. 😉 Your “media” content is fantastic though and we are flying everywhere, from the far north and west, to the deep to south, to many of the spots that you go to, and we really appreciate all the tips coming from that side of the social media spectrum that you post. So keep it up. And thanks.
Awesome to that 80991 was parked in prime position , though she has the awesome garmin merchandise throughout , being a simple 172 is refreshing over the cutting edge new displays
totally agree! so relatable
Nice video josh
Thanks Josh 👍
I love your videos....I love that Plane....I have over 100+ skydives out of a C-172 ....I may a Jump in 1985 as Santa Claus for over 600 kids at a school...( R Door Off )....My last jump was in 1996....ending with over 4000 jumps.: PS: Made a lot in Alaska.....( Fairbanks ).
Another amazing video…
Got to fly some of that same shore line in Chicago only thing is I got to take off from Navy Pier to do it. Okay I was in a Chicago Fire Helo at the time so got to also fly over downtown as well as out over the lake a little ways out. Was doing planning for a state medical team so the birds eye view was a big help and a ton of fun. Our driver out to there was a Chicago firefighter and we got to make his day because he had never got to fly in their helicopter so we asked for him to go with us
Usual class!
Fly safeLY ☺
You’ve experienced our beautiful skyline cruise! Be sure to reach out when you’re coming to Chicago. We’d be happy to show you around.
I'm so jelly! Maybe next year.
So glad you guys had a great Oshkosh! Hard work pays off it seems. Does the US have a concept of a listening squawk?
Europe have had overworked controllers for years and constantly looking for ways to ease their workload without having to pay for more controllers! Not sure thats such a good idea but some areas in US seem to be heading that way too by all accounts. Some of the things Europe are doing may be applicable?
I agree with that title very much!
Hey, there's Stevie!
good video
Thanks for coming!
Awesome video as always ! Question..... When are you going to put pants on your Cessna ?
It had pants on it years ago, but they removed them because they were going to need to be rebuilt. The pants also reduced useful load in the aircraft and makes grass landings more of a hassle.
You overflew me if you went to Krzl. Not to say that RZL isn't a nice airport, but try VPZ, a few miles north. Gas is usually the same price, crossing runways, a better FBO and more food/shopping close by.
Glad you had a good time at OSH.
Josh your content is awesome...but...Garmin is too expensive for the standard GA pilot. It's different for unsponsored plane owners.
Unsponsored airplane owner here, they’re expensive for what they are, sure, but so is the vast majority of avionics on the market. I’ve been deciding between a Dynon or G3X setup for my Comanche 260B and both are coming out the same price.
What do you want Josh to do with that info?
@@smokingspitfire1197 GO Garmin!!! We've flow with both. Recently use a full D panel for our multi training and made us love the G3X even more, just so intuitive
The 360 camera pan was very slick, and the quality was great! Which one do you use? The Insta X3 or GoPro?
@GoPro
Next time if you need someone to carry your bags, I'm your guy! FYI: MORE JOSH AND CHRIS!!!
991 looked great under the lights...one question, though, did she give the Dreamliner an inferiority complex? You know, being a star and all...😁😎
Cessna 172! 👍👍
