Learn how to layer vinyl on a shirt using everything from regular everyday iron on to glitter and holographic HTV in the right sequence for success! Many people are intimidated by layering iron-on vinyl and I totally get it. Making a T-shirt with just one layer can be challenging! But when you factor in two, three or even four layers of iron-on vinyl there are a lot more steps and a lot more chances of messing things up. That’s why I wanted to put together a super simple and easy to follow tutorial that breaks down all the steps so instead of feeling confused, you can feel confident and TRULY know how to layer vinyl on a shirt!

Having a really stressful day. Your videos teach me great things, but your voice and personality relax me. So, thanks for everything. I think you are a delight!
I'm sorry and hope it gets better! 💗
@Jennifer Maker sticker cardstock
Same! It’s so sweet and soothing. So inspiring!
I agree with you
I love how clearly you explain everything, we get scared when we want to do it, but seeing you do it all becomes so easy. The owl is beautiful, I hope I can do it. I learn so much every day thanks to you. I already want to see other similar projects. Thank you very much.
I know this video was presented almost two years ago. And God knows I've seen almost every video you've ever done...and belong to every group and class you are part of. But this video...right here...saved the day for me. Of course I've watched it before. Of course I figured I'd know how to layer iron on vinyl. I've been doing the Cricut...vinyl...everything for a few years. But for some reason, I could NOT remember how to do this. My husband bought me the Maker 3 for Christmas. I already have the original Explore and the original Maker. After watching this video...I was able to make a Detroit Lions fan sweatshirt within a few minutes. I needed it for tomorrow's game. You make everything so easy to follow...step by step! I had my svg already to go and hit "make" and you said..."do not forget to mirror...it will remind you...but don't forget"!!! That saved the day. And using my Easy Press in 3 second intervals for each layer was a miraculous save the day step! I had 5 layers so I didn't want to mess it up! Thanks Jennifer. You are such a magnificent teacher! I actually had trotted over ( in the few minutes I had) to our Hobby Lobby to get some silver and some blue smart vinyl and for the first time ever didn't have to use a mat! Thank you...God bless you...and I'm sending virtual hugs your way! I'm so proud of how it turned out!
Oh my goodness! You are too sweet. I love comments like yours! Thank you🥰
I always learn so much from your videos! Thank you for being so clear, showing each step, and speaking slowly. You make every step and every project so much easier and more enjoyable! ❤️😁
You are so welcome!
Ppl like you make the world go around. My brain is experiencing so much anxiety bc I can’t wait until tomorrow, so that I can make a shirt ❤. Thank you. God bless you Miss Jennifer 😊
Awww, thank you, I'm so glad that you are here watching! Good luck with your shirt!
You are a Crafting Goddess! I just completed my first ever t shirt and it was a layered glitter vinyl. I am so proud of myself and I couldn't have accomplished it without you! It's not layered layered, but I used four different colors and had to fit the 4 pieces around each other with precise center measurements. All of your tips were very much welcomed. I can't sing your praises enough. Thank you thank you!!!
Thank you so much!! 🌸
I am starting today. I hope my project turns out as well as yours!
Thanks for the clear, organized presentation and the tip that nothing can go on top of the specialized vinyls.
Absolutely gorgeous Jennifer. Thank you for taking your tutorial so slowly and explaining it all so very well. ❤️
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for another great (and really cute) tutorial! Would love to see a tutorial on placement of HTV in other areas besides centering on shirt. For example, pocket or heart placement, collar placement, and back of t-shirt placement.
For other areas I would physically measure the space and then recreate that in Design Space with a square, rectangle, or circle, etc.
Just what I needed to figure out this shirt for my grandson. Thank you Jennifer. I love how you have a video for everything I need to know. God Bless you and thank you again
Happy to help! Thank you!
Love your tutorials! They are the clearest, easiest, and best videos out here! Keep up the good work. Many of us appreciate everything you do!
Thank you! So glad you like them!💗
You have taught me so much since I got my Cricut. I watched a lot of your videos before even attempting to use it. The first thing I made was a coffee mug for myself and one for my husband. They were simple one color designs just to give me a little practice, but it was so much easier than I thought it was going to be. And now I'm addicted to my cricut. ❤ Thank you for all the help so far and I'll continue watching your videos for tips and tricks and advice in the future. Thank you so much.
Yay! I'm so lad you have found my tutorials helpful!! thank you!🥰
You are a life safer !!!! This works !!! Listen to her !! I love her videos ! She is always so helpful
Thank you for a great tutorial. I was so scared to layer and had no idea. I've had my press for 1 whole year and never used it. Now I'm going to. Thanks for sharing.💜
I'm so glad you found it helpful!💗
I love watching your videos, you always explain everything so clearly, I also have your Cricut Coach Playbook which is so helpful, thank you for making cricut enjoyable and less stressful
You are so welcome! 😃💜
I received a Cricut Maker 3 as a Christmas gift so am a total novice. I am following your videos for my tuition on getting to my machine. I am amazed at what it is capable of doing! With your help, I am learning how to use my machine. The great thing about your videos is I can watch a bit, pause and do that part myself, watch a bit more, pause, and so on, so I don't have to watch and remember everything in one go (my memory is not that good lol). I am loving your videos and am hooked so thank you so very much Jennifer.
Thank you! I am so glad to help! 😃
Love your videos! Just bought myself a cricut to start making custom clothing and your videos are guiding me through each step. Plus your voice puts me at ease! Thank you so much for your insight, tips and help. ❤
Wow! Thanks so much! ❤️
Jennifer YOU ARE the BEST teacher showing Cricut Techniques. I so hope Cricut sponsors you. It was so great to see step by step. Tk u
Thanks so much!
Thank you SO MUCH for this tutorial! I made a Hey Bear t-shirt for my toddler and I soon realized I needed to use layers to do what I wanted and had no clue what to do. His shirt came out perfectly!

Now I feel ready to tackle a multi layer t shirt ! 😁
You can do it!
Thank you for this! I've never layered iron on before and you were so thorough. I have learned so much from your videos. 🙂
I'm so glad it was helpful! 😃
You are my ROCK STAR!!! I have learned so much from you and I can't say "thank you, Merci, Muchas Gracias, etc, enough to show my appreciation. I just made 2 birthday tee shirts for my Granddaughters and I'm thrilled over the moon at how they turned out! But your expert tutorials are the reason for the successful design. I love watching your videos! (I've also done etching on Pyrex glass, pop up cards, vinyl labeling for all my family etc) Thank you Jennifer!
You are so welcome! Thank you so much for your sweet words!🥰
This was a great video. You really do make the steps clear for us beginners. Thank you. Robin

Thank you for another clear, concise tutorial. Thank you for sharing your talent, designs and time with us. You have inspired me to try cutting something other than paper. I was also admiring the 3-D alphabet behind you and was wondering if you have a tutorial for those too. Thanks again for all you do.
You are so welcome! Thanks for noticing that! There is a tutorial coming out soon. 😃
Thank you so much! Not doing a T-shirt, something else, but this is exactly the help I needed! Thank you, also, for speaking slowly enough for me to understand. You are a wonderful teacher!
You're so welcome! Glad that I could help! 🌸
Best and clearest tutorial I’ve come across on this.
Thanks!
Thank you so much! 😊🌻
Thank you for such a detailed tutorial!! A friend asked me to put his design on a tshirt for him, but I had never done it before . After watching your video, I feel more comfortable about doing it!
Wonderful! You can also do print then cut if the design is very intricate. jennifermaker.com/how-to-use-printable-vinyl-with-cricut/ jennifermaker.com/print-cut-cricut-transfer-tshirts/
Thank you, Jennifer! I love your videos. I've been watching videos you have also on using HTV. I'm making shirts for my Sister-In-Law; she has a country store, so this will be quite the project for me as I have absolutely no experience with this. This is great as it gives me some other ideas for fun things as well.
That is awesome!
Thank you so much for this video! I used it to walk me through making t-shirts for my son’s group to sell on his table. They turned out beautiful!!

Wonderful! 😃
Thank you so much for your easy to follow instructions. I was in a panic about which way to lay the have vinyl for a T-shirt I was making for my grandson’s Super Bowl shirt for spirit Friday at school. We couldn’t find him a T-shirt for the team we was cheering for since they hadn’t been to the super bowl. When I went back and watched you video it made making the shirt with ease. He got lots of compliments and made his day good because he was dressed with the team spirit. Thank you for such inspiring ideas.
Awesome! So glad to hear it! 💗
Thank you Jennifer for your advice on layers it really help me
Thank you! My shirt I done for Valentine's Day was off in areas. Now I understand why. Now I know less temperature and time until the end.
So glad it was helpful!
Thank you for always sharing your talents with us. 🥰
My pleasure 😊
Thanks so much for this video! I created a 5 color design, then wasn't sure how I was going to layer it without melting the previous layers. You made this look so easy. I did not know parchment paper would keep my design from melting.
Glad I could help!
Thanks for doing this. I cant wait to get some htv and try!
You are very welcome!
Thanks for the knowledge. I’m in the sneaker custom lane & recently started t shirts. Your videos have been a great help.

Thank you so much!
I agree, I love the way everything is explained step by step, it makes using Cricut very user friendly
Thanks for explaining so wonderfully, definitely user friendly. Learning from you is so good, especially for me because I'm a beginner.
You are so welcome! 💕
Siser sparkle is a layerable glitter vinyl. You can put other layers directly on top of it. Love the lil owl! So cute 🥰
That is good to know!
I love owls and love your owl SVG, so I stayed up late to make it and ironed it on a brown T-shirt I have. SO cute, even though imperfect. However, I think I got wrinkles in my white HTV, not because of too much heat, but because my white was a different brand of HTV. Anyway, I liked it so much I stayed up even later resizing the owl and making earrings to (somewhat) match. Thank you so very much for this owl design and tutorial.
Oh wow, I'm so glad you love it! 💗
Thank you for giving me the confidence to make things for my children and family!! You are soo helpful and knowledgeable
Thank you!

Your previous vinyl videos helped me get over my fear of using vinyl! I would love a video on how to use vinyl with infusible ink. I’d love to combine both in a project!
Great suggestion! Please submit that idea here so I can visit it when I have moment: jennifermaker.com/projectrequests/
@@JenniferMaker Just submitted it!!! Thanks for all you do! Fellow Michigander here! 😁
Thank you! I have been wanting to try a layered shirt but was not sure how to make it match up and be in the correct place on the shirt.
Glad I could help! 🌸
Thank you I went blank when I was trying to do a infusible ink vinyl on a blanket and shirt. I forgotten the temp and for how long to press. The tee shirt in design space made it confusing for me. I winged it what I did forget to do was adding the butcher paper but it camed out ok. One side of the heart in the corner didn't take but I repressed it in that corner and it worked. I found removing the vinyl on infusible ink is easier than regular vinyl.learning alot from you
So glad you enjoyed the video!
You are the best and teaching and sharing . Thank you so much. I learn a lot from your chanel and on your web as well. 🙏👍
