  • Today we are looking at a very convenient KVM switch which includes a built in docking station. I've used a few different docking stations and this is by far my favorite one so far

    Question about the front ports, does they also have the virtual emulation?
    Or is it only for the video input?

      @EricReviews  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hi Manuel, yes the MacBook Air will work with this but due to a chipset limitation, you can only run one external monitor.
      @Stephx2023 Unfortunately all MacBooks do not support multiple monitors on the same USB-C connection. You can use two monitors, but they'll be in mirror mode. The only way to do 2 monitors on a MacBook currently is to use two different ports (USB-C and USB-C or USB and HDMI). That or use an external graphics card solution.

    • @EricReviews
      @EricReviews  Před 7 měsíci +1

      It could work with one console and a pc, but not two consoles. This is because this uses HDMI for one input and USB-C for the other. So if you did two consoles, a Switch via usb-c and the other via HDMI would work.

      question: "I want to buy KVM switch for dual monitor setup. I have macbook pro m1 2021 and windows PC. From what I see the best choice in my case will be AV Access iDock C10. Am I right?"
      1. "For our iDock C10,please note that when the USB-C connect to macbook and two monitors would be output the duplicate contentes,which is mirrored mode,is this acceptable for you?"
      question: "Having duplicated content is definitely not what I am looking for. I was sure it would work in extended monitor mode (not sure if it's the correct naming for this mode). Do you have any solutions that can help me to achieve this?"
      2. "But sorry that we not have the Dock can support work with macbook thru the single USB-C cable to output with extended mode now.

    • @EricReviews

    • @EricReviews
      @EricReviews  Před 3 měsíci

      No that won't work with this one since the USB-C connection connects to both HDMI. This company does have a few other KVMS that will work. For that, you'll need one that uses HDMI for both PCs. This is assuming you mean displayed one at a time. If you want them both displayed but only switching keyboard and mouse, your best using a USB only switch such as this one which worked great for me.

      Good point. Though it's worth mentioning this is not a fault of the Dock, but macbooks themselves. Mac made a dumb decision to not allow multiple Monitor streams over a single USB c cable, meanwhile windows has been able to do this for a while.
      Because of this, using 2 seperate usb c cables or a dock with 2 usb c inputs is the only way for a dock and dual monitors to work on a mac
