Same thing, no hole. Told it's called an Indian button. Which likely means int's been used for 10,000 years. So there might be something to it.. : )

@@sushmasingh6718 That last one is a make shift grommet. You know those blue tarps and stuff to cover your boat or other things? They have built in metal ring grommets so you can tie down the cover. This is a way of adding one to tie down. If you put the rope through the fabric alone, it will eventually tear. This adds strength so the bottle cap takes the load.
