    This is LG, second dual screen attempt, after listening to customers and addressing complaints, adding refinement to the LG V50 experiment, which was a small hit in Korea, selling 500000 units (which is huge for LG).
    I think they did a great job.
    The phone without the case is a solid competitor to the iphone 11 max and samsung Note 10, for hundreds less, and with more features, but for the best photos/videos, you have to learn to use the manual modes effectively.
    Even without the case, it is a worthy competitor to the iphone 11 max, aside from faster processor, slightly higher resolution, max brightness and tele lens and ios software features of the iphone, you gain quad dac/amp, headphone jack, sd card, flush cameras, better arguably selfie cam, and have 6gb/128gb vs 4gb/64 gb, smaller notch and 2 year warranty., pro video and audio mode.
    Against the note 10 again you lose the tele, max brightness, have less memory and storage, no curve glass, nole instead of a notch, samsung design, but you gain quad dac/amp, headphone jack, flush cameras, and sd card and 2 year warranty.
    one plus has the larger brighter screen, 90 hz display, no notch, tele lens, but no official water resistance, no wireless charging, no quad dac/amp, no headphone jack, no flush cameras, no sd card, no 2 year warranty.
    And than LG allows you to use it with one or 2 screens for approx 4600x1080P total resolution, not including the third front screen.
    So as of right now, this along with the discounted LG G8 which debut at $619 street price and is now around $4-$600 and has ther highest ppi among 1440p phones and a real traditional secure finger print scanner and secure face unlock on the same phone while keeping LG's trademark flush cameras, sd card, quad dac/amp and headphone jack and 2 year warranty. are the best phone values along with the base Rog phone 2 by Asus.

    • @Tigerex966
      @Tigerex966 Před 4 lety +6

      @@tinetannies4637 I agree I prefer the traditional fingerprint scanner and class leading ppi among its phones which LG started.
      I also like the secure face unlock
      New g8x has a larger screen smaller notch inferior in display scanner and no secure face unlock.
      But I got to say the dual screen is super useful
      But the LG g8 is just around $400 new that's $200 off its launch price which makes it along with the g8x and Asus rog 2 the nmbrst phone values this year.
      But as usual CZcams's tech channels are brainwashed by apple Samsung and Google.
      IPhone is the biggest rip off by far in all versions only iOS and it's fast benchmarking CPU and GPU Dave it but they are memory starved and do not have true multitasking.
      But it is true often developers optimize their apps better for the low memory iPhone and don't take advantage of Qualcomm's chips and extra memory as much as they could.

    So I've now had the LG G8X for over a week now and I came from my first LG phone being the V30+. After months of searching for a new phone with nothing being in a competitive price range and still being an improvement from the V30, I nearly ended up giving my mother my upgrade and keeping my V30 for another year till her contract could get a new phone. Unfortunately One plus isn't available in South Africa but once I saw this and that it cost the same per month I decided I'd give it a go, and thank goodness I did. Its camera is a big improvement on an already great camera. The speakers are amazing and with the much larger battery it lasts far longer. The V30 lasted over a day with high usage and this can last up to two days. However the duel screen as amazing as it is(basically making the galaxy fold irrelevant) it uses up the battery making the overall life slightly less than my 2 year old V30. The second screen is an amazing feature that I love to use but if I'm just going out and don't need it I leave it at home and don't end up missing it. When I'm home it is perfect to use while I relax. This phone really is another example of LG pioneering something that in 2 years will become the norm and it works really well.

      @danielbekker3683 Před 4 lety +2

      So I would say that some developer features are lost going over and small features overall. But it is a super solid phone with definitely better cameras and will get better update support being a newer phone. The front camera is a little disappointing but still a slight improvement over the V30. The rear camera is a massive improvement. The bigger battery takes the phone to 2 days of heavy use and one day with the duel screen. But when I say one day I mean 24 hours and about 38-44 hours. It's definitely a upgrade but the V30 was also such a good phone that its able to keep up with this pretty well.

      @@danielbekker3683 thank you for the feedback. My mind was set on the V50 dual screen. It's sad that S.A didn't get the V50 dual screen. I love the specs. Can't think why we didn't get it since we had the V series till 40.

    • @danielbekker3683
      @danielbekker3683 Před 4 lety

      @@hadams6126 yea I agree but strangely enough the V50s battery will die faster on that duel screen due to the pogo pins on the back. The G8 plugs in via the USB c port so it's more efficient. And the V50s screen isn't the same size as the duel screen where on the G8 they are exactly the same. So the G8x is actually a more refined package compared to the V50

    The main selling point of this phone was the dual screens (especially getting it for free), as I'm always switching between multiple apps and being able to do two at a time is awesome! I had the Note 8 and was going to go with the Note 10, but given this had the same 128g storage, headphone jack, plus extra sim card storage, I was sold - okay, the price point was amazing also. I've had it two days now, and I'm loving the battery life, the sound is nice, clear and loud enough to where I don't have to break out my bluetooth speaker when not using my headphones. I tested the front-facing 32mp camera and it was very clear and sharp, so I look forward to using that while doing my vlogging. This phone almost fits in my Note 8 case, except the buttons are just a bit off. Please note that you will have to order the dual screen separately and wait a few weeks before you get it. At times, I don't see much difference between them, even though I don't have a stylus with the LG. Frankly, I got the Note for the stylus but wound up not using it as much as I thought I would, so I'm not missing it.

    Great video as always and a great phone to review. No concerns with scratching the screen or getting dirt underneath it cough 😷 (Samsung).
    As for the battery life. It’s powering two screen not one and it’s showing great promise in that dept.
    Nice to see you can fold the dual screen backward 360*
    What’s the network signal like? Just as good as other LGs of old?
    Camera wise photos are good. Photos come with lots of detail like the other phones. Wide angle brings more into the view finder than the others although portrait and night mode are slightly blurred but nothing that can’t be improved by an update. But damn the photos of the rog 2 phone. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again they do look nice 👍
    Video is always commendable with LG so no complaints there.
    The only negatives I can think of are the phone is wide and with the dual screen, wider still and when closed with the dual screen can you answer calls with the earpiece without having to open the dual screen to get to the phone to answer a call?

    The main reason why LG came out with this design is to capture the mobile gaming market and in this video there was no mention of the many controllers and with the option on one to custom make your own controller. I never seen Nintendo do that. With the controller screen separate from game screen there is no loss of space in the game. I like the photo comparison especially with iphone 11. Thee first time watching this video I thought the iphone was better with the photos. Watching it second time [ from my LG G Pad X 10.1 ] I turned up the brightness to 100% and paused each photo frame. Even though in some photos the iphone did slightly better with contrast and accurate color the LG did much better showing clear and better detail in background and put more detail in the frame from the mural all 3 others couldn't. LG uses a different aperture in their camera lens in every high end phone to mid-range phone from the other OEMs that LG photos all suffer with over exposer from light saturation from bright lights, like in the apartment in background from the camera shot. However LG highend phones from the V series does have manual custom camera settings that you could control whiteness. I haven't seen one video for LG G8X camera comparison with any camera settings. I went to my local AT&T store in Winter Haven, FL to see the LG G8X in action. It was on display but somebody stole the charger and it had a dead battery. I still plan to buy one next week to upgrade from my LG V20. The LG G8X has a 855 Snapdragon processor, 6GB of Ram, 128 GB of storage, a bigger 6.4 DUEL OLED FTC Screens, Andriod Pie, and Stereo Sound from the front. By the way full price on AT&T is $780 and Sprint $749. When I bought my LG V20 from AT&T in October 2016 It for $830. Of all carriers they had the highest price. A phone with a dual screen included is a true bargain for under $800. LG is Sponsoring Season 3 of ESL Mobile Open. Finalist while competing in the Finals at DreamHack Atlanta will use the LG G8X. Dual Screen.

      If you fancy just that dual screen, then don't go for it. You will get bored of it within two weeks. I use it bcoz i invest in stock market, so this is really an amazing tool for multitasking. And build quality is amazing. Also phone is not camera centric, but there are so many options in camera software, it do pretty good with that 12 mp sensor. Ip 68 rating is also something you don't get easily at this price rang. If you want to buy it now, don't go beyond 250$, go as per your need....

I'm currently using the LG V40 and the only thing I really miss from the V20 is the IR blaster that gave me such a great universal remote. And I mean UNIVERSAL!!! I like your review format. No stupid unboxing videos (like we care about the cables and manuals in the box) but focus on real world usage. You did focus primarily on cameras though and not go into your own use cases for having dual screens which is the whole point of this particular phone, right? So that's a missed opportunity there. You did correctly point out about LG being the originator of the wide angle camera so kudos for that. If you want to do a follow up video, then I'd actually like to see how you are using dual screens for your own use cases. And minor nitpick - you mentioned that the extra screen is "free" but more accurately, it's "included" in the $699 price. Nothing's free.

    This should make for the perfect CZcams Vlogging camera, you do not need a tripod, as it is it's own stand, 32MP, and stabization and 4k Video on the front lens, monitor latency free with wired headphone, and use the inline mic on your headphones for audio or the excellent 24 bit native layered stereo recording app, along with manual controls and asmr.
    I mean Apple finally added the weide angle this year, and stereo recording last year, all the while LG has had both for half a decade, making it have a cult following along youtubers that actually shoot and edit their videos on their phones.
    Yet many youtubers apple/google/samsung centered youtube channels, still said apple was the creative phone of choice for all of those years...NOT!
    Apple is just now catching up, by copying the best of android, it does have a slight lead in sythetic Antutu/Geekbench benchmarks, but in real world use test, it often does not finish anywhere near first, because of lack of optimization in video editing and rendering apps, , no true multitasking, lack of ram, thermal throttling and lately bugs in 13.2 causing it to make you reload open apps.
    And even non Samsung OLED"s like the 1000 nit 6.6 color accurate 120HZ $600 ROG 2 are now class leading and do not thermal throttle as bad.
    And other oleds are just not as bright on max, but let you decide saturated or not and custom tune it to your liking, and Sony up's that by giving you a 4K OLED.
    So it's closer than ever in phone android competition makes them innovate to stand out, while Apple's monopoly of ios means it can wait four years with the same design and simply add android feats 5 years after the fact, and make it seem like something special.
    wireless charging, dual and triple rear cameras, tele, wide angle, stereo recording, larger batteries, oleds, higher than 720P screens, and still no true multitasking.

    its built for those that want better multi tasking on their phones (which seems to be surprisingly in high demand). it's niche market phone, but that seems to be where LG excels. I had a G6 my only complaint was that update downloads took for ever (even with a fast wifi connection). Only reason I did not stay with LG, One my SP has reduced their selection and only carry one model of LG, and two i needed a case that had 100% coverage. So for that reason I now have a Samsung, but would go back to LG for the right offering.

But if you are dead set, then the LG is better for usability and far more forward thinking, but it's durability is very low, it's poorly constructed. The iPhone has one good feature imo, and that's the 3d photo feature, and it is tough. The iPhone 11 pro that I had got stomped on (yes I hated it that much) and while the phone died, the glass never even cracked, HOWEVER, it scratches just by looking at it, look it up you'll see it's a major problem and apples response when I messaged them via online chat?
