Sorry to tell you but in England, in my area people don't even consider this a motorcycle, they hate them. I was neutral so I took it out and mentioned some of the stuff that I heard about this bike from others and wanted to see what it was really like.
Now if you actually watch the video you will see how I tested it out started finding its good points and started to enjoy and understand the bike's strong points.
This is a positive and honest review made from an angle of confronting the opinion people have of it! (Oh the irony so many missed that fact) if you watch the whole thing rather than just assuming you might be surprised!
At least 5 of these were sold directly off the back of this video from this one dealer! How can that happen of a negative unreasonable review?

People are daft. I've ridden bikes since I was 17. I'm pushing 60 now and a combination of dodgy knees and bad back means I'm getting a 400cc or 650cc version of this. If nothing else, getting my leg over (oo-er missus) is getting hard on a standard bike. These bikes mean I can carry on riding without the embarrassment of a Vespa :)
@@shanematthews5359 you will find the 400 easier to get on, the 650 has quite a step over, well unless you step up then over. I have a review of the 400 btw 👍

Heck with people. I own a Honda Pcx150 and I get nods, a hand wave from other motorcycle riders. However the people in cars hate scooters and motorcycles.
Soon I plan on buying a Burgman as my wife got a little taste of the riding bug on my pcx150. I enjoy the fact you can keep up with traffic and have fun doing it.
No I do not own a Burgman anymore. Now I have a Yamaha T Max and the reason for a motorscooter is that my wife always goes with me and due to a brain damage she has trouble getting on and off the bike and she cannot stand the clutching. I have owned a Burgman but was a model before 2010 and that was a bad machine. If you did your work properly you could have warned that the good Burgman is from 2013 and even better 2016. The cvt from the older models was terrible. Everybody knows that in motorscooter land. But I am not totally happy with the T Max 530. It has its flaws. But so did the Honda CBF 1000.
In Holland where I live you have to have your A drivers license to be allowed to drive a motor bike more than 35 Kw. So you have to learn it on a proper bike before you can ride a Burgman because it has 40 Kw. And in my opinion driving a motorbike is not about clutching and shifting. I think that is boring and useless nowadays. It is the whole game of being a safe member of trafficking. My advise to you is not to start laughing when getting on a motorscooter. Your start was rather clumsy and I do not need to know if you choose a motorbike or a motorscooter. I you want to do your work properly than make a neutral test and leave your opinion to yourself.
If the "real" motorcyclists do not have the politeness to nod back than I know what person is riding there. So I do not wave anymore to them.
I am not offended by your laughter about the Burgman it is your attitude towards your fellow motorscooter riders. You are not better than any of the motorscooter riders. Maybe that is the problem with the "real" motor riders. Think they are better.
When someone finally grows up and realizes that it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Buy what you want and what works for you! Good review.

Yeah, why would you want something that's super comfortable, incredibly fast (for a scooter), easy to ride, cuts out almost all the wind and offers tons of storage?
Not to mention that scooters get WAY better mileage than cars and significantly more than motorcycles!
@@johnmurdock5001 My scooter got way better mileage than cars but probably worse than the average motorbike as I had a Suzuki Burgman which was a heavy twin cylinder 650

After riding cruisers and "real bikes" all my life I finally bought a Burgman. I have arthritis in my hands and clutching was just getting too much. I do a lot of touring and my Burgman has put the fun back into riding. Love it.
Keep on driving Pete! Most 'normal' or 'real' bike drivers don't know the story behind the reason, that we did choose for a Burgman to enjoy the freedom vibes od a bike.
Ok heated hand grips and seats that should help the arthritis??

Why would anyone get a Burgman? I just turned 68 today. My son, who just turned 21, is a motovloger. I had not ridden since he was born, but got thr "fever" to ride after going with him to look at new bikes. Little did I know that my arthritis ridden hip would keep me from throwing my leg over a motorcycle, due to the pain. So. I told him that I probably would not be able to ride again. Then we saw the Burgman. I never thought I would be riding a step through, but for me it was just what the doctor ordered, actually the doctor suggested a hip replacement, but the Burgman was way cheaper. I love it and for someone in my condition it works great. The windshield allows you to get as little or as much wind as you want without the neck stress of fighting the resistance. The Burgman has made it possible for me to ride again with comfort, cruise at 70 and enjoy riding with my son. I love it.
I am in the same situation as you. I have 2 bad hips, no flexibility at all (I'm sure you know the pain). I am trying to delay hip replacement as long as possible. These walk through bikes are perfect for guys like us and at our age we can care less about the macho effect. We just need something that works for us.
Maybe look into stem cell therapy rather than surgery?
poppahonda I have not ride a bike in 10 years because of my back problems, maybe this is the one bike that will get me back on the road. What is the topspeed? And can you ride/cruise all day long at 140-160 km/t on the German Autobahn?
@@felgercarb3803 140 to 160 km is a little high for the Burg but it can reach those speeds as it has a 650cc engine. I normally cruise the highways at 120 km easy riding speed. Actually I have to be careful as the most highway speeds in Canada are limited at 100km so I speed most of the time OPPS!

I've owned BIG touring bikes and a multitude of other street bikes-some that were fast and others that were loud. There is NOTHING about the Burgman 650 that requires any kind of apology or explanation as to why you're riding it instead of a different motorcycle. Let's face facts, the VAST MAJORITY of motorcycle riders choose the bike they feel will make them look the coolest. This review bears that out over and over again as the reviewer repeatedly told us that this wasn't his kind of bike. (I'm surprised the review wasn't conducted after Midnight so no one would see him riding such an embarrassing machine.) After owning multiple Goldwings over the years I can tell you I would take this bike touring in a heartbeat. It's solid, smooth and just plain fun to drive.
+Paul LeBoutillier again!! Read the comments! I have said this time and time again! I was giving an angle of a person who isn't in to scooters. To show how an opinion can change if you try something. I'm sorry but the fact is most bikers look down on scooters and this is what I was trying to over come. That is why this is the most viewed Bergmann review on CZcams, most if not all reviews will not bother.

After 50+ years of 2 wheeling and more bikes than I can count I can say without hesitation my 2016 Burgman 650 is as much fun to ride as any of them. My last 3 were a 2014 Bonneville, a 2013 BMW F700GS (great bike) and a 2004 H-D Screaming Eagle Electra-Glide. I miss them all but once I hop on the Burgman I forget them. :-)

A lot of "real bike" riders I know, after riding one of these 650s, have a huge grin on their face afterwards. They are admittedly ashamed to like it so much. (It's a bike they hate to love). Something about the label "scooter", I guess. But, "scooter" doesn't really do it justice for what it's capable of doing. It's more a step-through sport tourer. It truly allows you to enjoy the scenery in comfort and luxury, and at highly illegal speeds.
I just sold my beautiful 2012 goldwing because I just really enjoy my Burgman more. Odd, but that's the truth.
No, nothing odd about it. I own a 2003 GL1800 and find now at 80 it's a bit much for driving around town. Nothing better on the highway, but my 2006 Bergman is actually a lot more fun for day rides and casual rides since I don't tour long distance anymore.
Just an update to the above post. I ordered the largest Clearview windshield for the bike plus a better backrest and first time out did 400kms with no effort at all. It honestly was pretty much as effortless as on my Goldwing. The rest of the bike club I drive with initially thought my purchase was "pretty lame" until they saw how it effortlessly kept up with the rest of the bikes both on the flat and in the corners. There is a lot of incredibly stupid bias against scooters which seems to largely disappear once they see them in action. Besides at 80, who gives a sh*t what anyone else thinks...:))
I ride a Honda crossrunner, and I would gladly have one of these. If you're getting on and tired of heavy clutches, high seat heights and difficulty getting on and off bikes especially with panniers and boxes attached, this makes perfect sense. I would rather have this than give up biking, these bikes tend to have very loyal following, and people do big mileage tours on them. I even think this is cool, in an anti hero type of way, not everyone wants a zx10r, this looks super comfortable, has all the gadgets you could ever need and is way more everyday practical than a geared bike. The mire I think about it, I'm talking myself into one !
I owned a Burgman 650 when I passed my test at 23 due to me needing storage and loved it ! I also now have a goldwing and a burgman 650 but the burgman is the best overall bike I have ever ridden
been from Hamilton Ontario through Quebec, down New Brunswick into Nova scotia, around Nova Scotia and then back through the Charlevoix mountains in Quebec then home to Toronto, total over 1500 miles....this bike is a beast. great riding, great storage, very comfortable, great in rain...baby, don't knock it until you've tried it. got over 65000 kms. on this and she still purrs
These big scoots make for perfect tourist rides - take it slow and enjoy the scenery in perfect comfort. Ego be damned.
I have been riding a motorcycle from the age of 19, I am now 62. I had many heavy engines, many Goldwings or other touring engines. Now drive a Burgman 650, after first trying a 400. There is not much difference with a 650 and a touringbike. The 400 is more for city use and provincial roads. So if you do not salute a heavy scooter, remember that you do not salute a motorcyclist who already has more experience, if you should ever make it again.
Many older motorcyclists switch to these types of scooters. But also former motorcyclists who have had an accident, can no longer switch, worn knee or other body wear restriction and still want to continue to enjoy the freedom feeling of the motorcycle.
The 400 is my fav of the two, I have done a review on it and what i carried in it you might not believe haha
As for the nodding do take that as the tongue-in-cheek joke that it is, now it is true some people won't nod at you if you are on a scooter of any size but it doesn't matter at all.
As for who rides them yep I agree but also people who have no problem getting a weeks shopping home in one go on a bike! 😄
Had a test ride on one last week at A&M Motorcycles in Hertfordshire. Been thinking about getting one for a few months and after the test ride I was smitten! What a fantastic ride. Smoothe, comfortable and boy, extremely powerful. Hit 70 before I even knew it. Loved the ride so much I have just ordered a brand new one in white. Cannot wait to pick it up on Saturday! It's gonna be the longest 5 days ever!! But then one of the best weekends coming up!! :-)

Christmas came early today - picked it up today! 3 days early! :-) Its a beautiful machine.
Have been riding a motorcycle for more than 44 years. I have back wear. Since 2019 I have a Burgman 650 (model 2002), next to my Intruder 750. On the Burgman I can drive all day without back pain, on the Intruder an hour at the most. I do not mind that you are not greeted, mostly young riders with cramps in their arms, it is their limitation in empathy.
The Burgman is very handy to take with you on holiday, behind the car or behind the camper. Plenty of luggage space for your groceries, reasonably protected in bad weather.
In fact it is just a full-fledged motorcycle with a different design, in fact a compact Gold Wing.
i have a 2016 suzuki bergman executive and gotta say its a pleasure every time i ride it and its the best large scooter out there hands down

The sport of motorcycling is fraught with fears of loosing ones manhood if a certain machine is ridden. To someone that has come to the sport at 45 this attitude is really ridiculous. My first bike was a Burgman 400. Riding ANY bike places all participants in the same dangerous environment. Why respect among all riders is not given to scooter users as well is amazingly dumb. The sport needs to realize that all 2 wheelers are indeed brothers.
Agreed. I'm turning 50 this year and as a birthday present to myself I'm going to learn to start riding a motorcycle. This is probably the one I'm going to buy. Fortunately, after 50 years of living, I'm not looking to make friends with "cool" people. I'm looking to make friends with people I truly enjoy and respect. It's nice to be a child but the great thing about adulthood is you've grown past those games of trying to impress people.

i bought my '07 650 Burgman Executive used in 2010, and have enjoyed it ever since. It's very practical and comfortable to ride. I don't care if its not "cool" to others, it's cool to me.
I just got one of these for free!! Guy bent the front forks doesnt want to spend the money or take the time to fix himself so he signed it over to me. Its still driveable but needs repaired to get it licensed. Honestly im pretty pumped to use it for some long distance touring.
I'm on my second Burgman 650 Executive. First one I got was a 2007 model with 27K Kms, I rode it to 119K Kms with only wear and tear. I had it serviced at Suzuki Official 2- 3 times a year. I bought another one a few months ago with 29K Kms. I've had 4 scooters and a Honda Transalp 650. I'm not a biker by any means but for the lifestyle I lead here in sunny Spain its perfect. I rode for years in central London but here I have freedom. I do a lot of hiking and under the seat I can store jacket and trousers etc and helmet and gloves in the back box. My 40l backpack goes under the seat when i'm en route. Lots of long open roads and motorways, I've put it at 165kmph but dont need to do that often, top speed is around 175kmph. I absolutely love it, cant see me buying anything else ever.
Allot of people here have a supersport in the summer and use a motoscooter in the winter for communing to and from work.
Less cold, because you are more protected to wind and rain.
The giggles are a sure-fire give away that you're having fun... made me laugh a few times too.I ride a B-man 400 and feel it's perfect for suburbia. Functional and very economical. Easily goes 90mph on the freeway, holds 2 large grocery bags underseat, and carries all my surf gear (wetsuits, boots/gloves, towel, fins, food'n'drink, + more underseat - bodyboard strapped down flat using the rear handles).Front row parking anywhere and everywhere.. even Newport Beach on July 4th!!!
I have a blackbird, 3 CBR1000F'S, a R1100Rs and a silverwing scooter. I use the scooter more than all the others put together.
I even did a 1,000 mile trip 2 up on the scoot. Try one they are practicle and fun.
Karli Kirk, it’s amazing how many people don’t realize how capable these big scooters are! I have a riding buddy who has done a few Iron Butt rides. I told him I would have to join him on one someday, he said just make sure I don’t take my scooter, and laughed.
I also have a SV650 and a Hayabusa. I told him, “You do realize people tour on these, and they can go over a 100mph, right?” He said, “Seriously? I didn’t know that!”
Very few people knows that! If it wasnt for a friend of mine who bought one and let me drive it,I wouldnt have known how capable these machines are. Was too "proud" to drive one ^^

Thank you for doing a review of the Burgman 650. I've ridden a 650 since 2006. I bought a 2004 for my first scoot. Then I found a deal on a 2012 that had 2 miles on it. It was a leftover. All the stuff I had on the 2004 transferred to the 2012.
For more leg room, you can take off the "Butt Stop" for that.

I just wanna say thank you spicy. I actually own a cbr600rr, and a Harley soft tail. Last year I got the burgman for my wife, and I used it occasionally if I had to get groceries etc. To be honest, as much as I love my own bikes, I really enjoy riding the scooter! Obviously it doesn't have the street cred of the "real" bikes, but it's so comfortable, easy to ride and carry stuff, and surprisingly quick enough for everyday traffic, I've had my narrow mind changed. My personal bikes will always be my favorites, but the scoot has found a place for me now. I'm glad that a" youtuber "such as yourself has taken the time to check one out. Cheers mate.

I liked ur video. I met a couple about a month ago that was touring the states on one. They had the 650 version. They took trips to Denver , the Grand Canyon , Houston , ETC. on that machine. He said it needed very little maintenance , but , if the motor did need work , it was a real pain to work on since all the darn plastic covers and such. Other than that, he was very happy with it. He said he put over 50 thousand miles on it so far , with only routine maintenance required. Impressive.
Lets see why one Burgman 650 would be a smart option:
1- The Scooter layout: Out of the Box It offers the most comfortable and easy way of enter and exit something that use 2 wheels, and if your clothes are tight you will appreciate a lot, then we have to consider the details in Storage capability that avoid the problems of having to buy side bags and the all the material for there support that in the end cause aerodynamic problems that can be dangerous if you have something like a Yamaha FJR 1300 and you want to ride t like a R1... Then we have the weather protection that in one scooter like the Burgman 650 is on the Top spot of the best bikes for weather protection for riders and also for engine and chassis parts that are not has exposed like in one normal motorcycle..
2- The equipment that the Burgman offer is has complete has you find in the best Luxury bikes on the market, in my opinion only lacks a sound system to be equipped has the best of the best.. On the rest is has good has any other top bike, it offers great ligths for ridding in all conditions it has the electric control for the mirrors and a parking brake, the tyres, suspensions and brakes are decent enaugth for all type of ridding even for some Crasy guys like Antonio Lamberti just take a look

3- for what i speak in 1 and 2 you already realise that this Scooter makes a lot of sense and when we consider that in one city it would be better to ride this bike then any other touring bike that offers the same equipment, then you have a CVT that can be electronic adjusted
( That leave your shoes in good shape =) ), wish means that you can eliminate the problems off lack off consistency in the acceleration like you have in conventional CVT`s then you have a great machine that also has benefits in insurance, Fuel Economy, all in all is cheaper to maintain and leaving a Note In the CVT System, i have one scooter with cheaper materials on the CVT and it never let me down, it never brake on me and the CVT system dont need the worries of one Chain for example so All in ALL this scooter has to be the most luxury's touring bike you can buy for a reasonable price and in the end it will make what the other top bikes does even if dont make you feel like the most popular motard in the town...lol
OK, so I've had the Burgie a month now and thought I'd add some comments here. Firstly, it really is a pleasure to ride. It certainly doesn't lack power. Feels very responsive and unless it's just my vanity, gets lots of admiring looks. Being biased it certainly looks it's best in white. After watching Spicy's review several times there is a lot of 'concern' about other bikers (not) nodding. Well, I can honestly say most fellow bikers I've encountered have nodded, not that I care that much but the love is definitely out there! :-) Burgie riders are in the club! :-) (I hope)

I've gotten quite a few nods and waves when I'm out on my Burgie. I have a bad ankle and have a hard time shifting. This bike is a godsend, and got me back out riding. My next bike is a Honda 700 CXT

I own many bikes zzr1400 Hayabusa Ducati BMW need I go on. but I test rode one of these years ago and let me tell you I had a grin that nearly cracked my face. these scooters are very fast and bloody comfortable and as fast as most bikes from the lights. 10/10 you need to try one
I just bought my 2016 650 Burgman executive last year and I love this machine. Anyone who gets on it loves it!Automatic Transmission, Power mode is way cool for turns and curvy roads, heated seat and grips, ABS brakes, sooo comfortable and mega room under the seat..... plus phone connection and nice compartments in front. Smooth ride! Im so glad I bought the executive!Please be careful everyone. Don't trust that car wanting too pull out, I hear about that all the time here in southern Illinois...
Recently got a Burgman AN650 -03 and im loving it. I read somewhere that the older versions packs a bit more punch and top speed but i dont know if that is true. I do know that with fat me and fat missus on it, it still has no trouble overtaking cars or going uphill for that matter. On my old Kymco People GT 300i with a passenger you would notice some sluggishness immediately even on level ground.
As for not looking cool? Well i KNOW im not cool so why even bother? Id much rather be comfortable when riding. I do ride "motorcycles" for the enjoyment and believe me, this scooter is pure enjoyment to ride. It handles well both at lower speeds and higher speeds (note, its not meant for racing speeds, obviously) and stop lights are hassle free. I can practically guarantee you will be first off due to the automatic mode. Only downside if when you stop at a light and have someone in front of you as they take off so slowly and you have to hold back waiting for them to gear up.
I really like the executive scooters. If I'm still commuting 60 miles a day through all weathers when it's time to sell my 650 bandit then I would consider something like this.
Great honest and enjoyable review - Thanks - I had same doubts and prejudices myself before moving to a scoot - it took a fair bit of agonising before I took the plunge and got a AN400ZR for commuting and I've never really looked back since. - Really, it was practicality that got the better of me since my 60 mile daily commute on mostly rural roads left me plastered head to toe in cow shite on my bike (in our fantastic Northern UK perma-autumn weather) - Now it's my Burgervan that's plastered in cow shite - and my gold lurex bodystocking is absolutely pristine for when I get to the oriface. All my kit's kept in the boot (Laptop etc) rather than in a backpack - so no worries about the elements getting in and wrecking it there either. (You can even smuggle refugees into UK in that space, I reckon) Once you get over the shock of the size of these things, you'll find that handling's actually pretty good (Took a bit of getting used to though) and, all things considered, performance ain't so bad either. Granted, I've lost all me biker friends - and hardly anybody nods at you either on the road LOL - No probs - I've got a nodding dog on the dash now. - but I'm actually secretly pleased that I made the switch and I'm looking at the big Burgervan for touring further afield now. ... Maybe it's just my age though....Sigh !!

You did it because riding a small scooter is just fun. My brother has a Yamaha Warrior and has always had big bikes but you should have seen his face the first time he got on my Honda Metropolitan 50cc. He said he had a giant smile the whole time riding it and soon after bought one. Now the Warrior sits until it's time for a roadtrip.
I have one and just got an FZ6. Still ride the SR50 once a week. It's just a different kind of fun!

It's amazing for a motorcycle courier. I saw loads of them when i went London.
I have an'11 burgy 400 and I love it! Perfect for me at 61 years old. No the Harley guys and most others will not wave at you but they do gain a measure of respect for you when they figure out you can keep up with them. Mine will do 80 effortlessly winding around 7,000 with 9,500 being redline.. No IT IS NOT a moped! My next move is the 650, lots of leftovers around so I am sure I can get a good deal. Devastatingly beautiful machines...in my book!
Got a BM650 for about 1 Year and it suits my needs perfectly. Relaxed cruising without any lack of agility or missing power. Great bike !
By the way, Spicy, I'm not sure if you are aware, but the 650 Burgman has overdrive (6th gear) which is accessed by putting the bike into manual mode and then pressing the gear paddle one more time after 5th gear to go to 6th. The RPM's will drop by about 700 and highway cruising at 70 or 80 mph becomes very effortless. I find that this bike has an amazing gearing ratio especially when you consider that the engine is a 650. Better on the highway that many 900 cc motorcycles. I'd love to hear your comments on this.
Greg, good info.., just got 09 , perfect, 3800 miles, traded my 400. They are different. 650 is much smoother, front suspension sucks compared to 400.
I have just acquired one of these and am in total agreement with you. The power mode also saves on braking, as you just put it into that mode when exiting motorways and the speed will reduce dramatically, whilst setting you up perfectly for exiting the roundabout, traffic conditions allowing. F**cking brilliant.

You need to get over the self conscious worry of what others think. Most bikers older than 17 would get what the Burgman is about. I have toured on just about everything from a DT125R to a Pan Euro and the Burgman is right up there at the top of my list for bikes I would choose to ride from London to Rome and around and back again.
+DuckXT No sorry that isn't true! I know from the reaction of 1000s of people and interacting with 100s in person. Few reviewers have reviewed it, they are not interested. However as I say in the video it's a brilliant thing!

I dunno why all the scooter reviews start by apologizing for reviewing a scooter, it’s like watching a minivan review! Why apologize?! I’ve owned several motorcycles but never a scooter and to be honest when I was buying my latest motorcycle for fun of it I sat down on a Burgman (why I’m watching this review) I was shocked by the comfort level. And let’s not even talk about all the storage, etc. My bike couldn’t even dream of having heated grips and seat. This is the kind of bike you buy with your brain, it just makes sense.
The angle of this video is exactly that, to show people who joke about these bikes they actually can be good. You can't hide from the opinion many people have. I was indifferent to them and this bikes showed me what they are good at.

More comfortable than a bike,it's a rocket it flies.Very stable 70 to 85 you don't even realize it.

Guys who own this are they very heavy because I've got cerebral palsy so a scooter is really my only option so how much does she weigh I'm torn between one of these and a piaggo MP3 because with the MP3 its like a can am that you can lean like a bike but is a trike but she's really expensive
I'm the proud owner of the newest model 650 Burgman & an experienced bike rider with over 80K miles of riding, This bike is not a scooter it's a real bike it' as fast off the line as my 1900cc Stratoliner or any harly I ever Wrode, for the 11K I paid it's worth every $... If you need to go faster than this , fact is this bike tops out at 118MPH... I love mine...
Celestino Di Vieste love it all you want. It being a great bike isn't going to make it as fast as a 1900cc bike.

Good review. These are GREAT bikes (fast, comfortable and freeway-friendly), and I loved mine from Moab to Lake Superior. You have to put your ego aside, though...
Coming from ZX14R and MT09 I can safely say that the Burgman is amazing and just lot of fun. I rode 725km in a single day and was still able to walk.
It's a great bike for older fellows to take road trips with or without their spouse!
It's pretty much purpose-built for commuting with a mix of freeway and city driving. When you get to work, you can stash ALL your gear in the bike, so no one has to know that you arrived on 2 wheels. The weather protection is pretty good too so save for ice and high winds, you can use it all year in most places.
The 650 Burgman is an excellent bike. I have 31,000+ on my 2013 through 13 states and Toronto, Canada (from NYC). No problems whatsoever. Great storage. Fully automatic. Very smooth on the interstates. I highly recommend it!

Honestly while i enjoy real bikes but i must admit that those maxi scooters ( including but not limited to the Burgman and the C650 GT ) are very comfortable. They are the most comfortable type of bike you can get for under 20k.
If you just want to relax and drive comfortably, these maxi scooters are the best choice.
I admit that some maxi scooters even look very cool ( like the afore mentioned C650 GT )
I had the 650 for a few years. It's great to get around town and daytrips. It carries everything you need and want. Tons of storage. I wish it had cruise control. there are groups on the east coast of the US that ride from Mane, new Hampshire and the like all the way to Florida for the summer. I always felt my 650 had ample get up and go along with being more than able to handle the 75 MPH expressways. I now own a can Am Spyder RTS.
I meant Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. They travel fro there to Florida in a group to Florida to get away from the cold.
Over the years I've owned a few bikes/scooters including but not limited to a Yamaha XV1100, a Kawasaki Voyager 1700 ( I still have that one) a Piaggio MP3 400 and a Suzuki Burgman AN650 Executive ( IS till have that one)k. Over the time of owning these and other bikes I clocked up well over 250k/kms mostly on highways. I rode the Yammie for about 160K/kms as my daily commute. I traded it for the Voyager and have clocked up 90,000kms much of that as a daily commute. I say all of that not to boast but to establish my credentials to comment on this video. First let's forget the bike v scooter thing. This is a bike that is designed for touring - you don't buy one of these to deliver pizzas. You're meant to get out on the open road and enjoy the wind in your face. The 650 motor is plenty powerful and will sit on 110kms (the national speed limit in Australia) all day. It holds its own with the cruisers, tourers and sports bikes while running up and down the highways as well as the back roads. The electric screen keeps the wind off and reduces strain on the arms and shoulders while it can be lowered for better air flow at low speed. The CVT is pretty responsive and pulls the bike away at the lights. There is a manual mode for those who like to play with buttons. I have never used it because I don't feel it is necessary. The power button is for extra revs when you're in auto mode and you want to over take. There is ABS braking with 2 discs up front and one on the rear as well as a parking brake for when the bike is on the stand. The handle bar levers (as it is CVT there is no clutch) do a good job stopping the machine. The Australian model did not come with heated seats or heated grips. Storage is fine both in the dash and under the seat. I recommend the addition of a top box for extra storage and also as extra support for the pillion although the pillion back rest is more than adequate. There is plenty of information in the instrument cluster. The fuel tank holds 14litres which gives about 200kms before needing a top up. I'm planning a trip of about 700kms riding in one day. I'll take my Voyager because it has better range, a built in radio with Aux plug in and cruise control but I would happily do it on the Burgman. If I were to give Suzuki any advice it would be to add cruise control as this machine is meant for touring and that would make a good days riding even better.
I'll be getting one this spring!! It will fit my need. Put around town and occasional 100-400 mile weekend trip. This was a great review!
I wish I had room in my garage for one of these also. I would drive up and down the west coast of Cali much more if I had one of these.

I took my 650 to Normandy for the D-Day 75th anniversary. Everyone on 2 wheels waved or nodded but the best was a convoy of 6 Gendarmes on FJRs, every one gave me the '2 wheels good' sign.

I went to a cycle shop thinking I was going to buy a new Suzuki Burgman 650. Then I sat in it. I found the dash protruded back towards my knees leaving me about one inch of clearance (not enough, I'm 6'3"). So I ended up getting a 2005 Aprilia Scarabeo 500. I absolutely love it.
Over the past 30 odd years of road bikes from lc350's to litre sports bikes to numerous gsxr1100's and a Honda blackbird I recently bought a burgman and can honestly say the burgman gives me just as much grin factor if more than any other bike I've been on, very underrated mostly by people that haven't tried one.
I've ridden and owned a GL 1100 right up to GL1800 goldwings and pan 11&1300 but I'm 62 now and my wife doesn't like me on my Tiger 800 so I've given it to my son I've loved all these bikes but at Christmas I bought a 650 Bergman exec 5 years old with only 1200 miles on the clock genuine, and it makes me smile when I ride it not only because it's such fun a little heave to push out onto the road but a real giggle to ride but most of all I get the biggest laugh at other bike riders who cannot bring themselves to acknowledge me when I nod why ? Because I'm on a scooter a bloody fast scooter at that. Just ridden to mid Wales from pompey 160 on a tank full 59 mpg touring at an average of 70 + see you at Loomies one day
I was up at Haslemere On Saturday, Spoke to Mark, Top blokes there and they speak highly of you dude, Gonna try and make it to the Suzuki/Loomies weekend, only issue is I'll be turning up in a car :-( hopefully not looked down on too much!
Great review...and on roads that I know very well. My current main ride is a Goldwing, getting too heavy for me now, so I will look seriously at this. I ride to the south of France twice a year (1700 mile round trip) would it be ok for that?
When I emigrated to Australia 20 or so years ago, I gave up my ST1100, and stuck to four wheels (partially because driving standards in NSW are pretty awful, despite the State claiming to "have the World's most advanced driver training programme"). Three years ago a colleague offered me a pillion ride on his Burgervan 650 Exec, and it was love at first ride - helped no doubt by it being a chilly day, and the pillion seat heating was quite an experience. Fast too, even 2 up with lots of luggage, so I literally went to our local Suzi dealership and bought a nice, very low mileage silver grey model ("Metallic Matte Fibroin Grey" - wonder who thought up THAT description!) I now use that as my daily commuter: 140km daily, and with good servicing that machine has been absolutely reliable, with absolutely no problems anywhere. Plenty of useful power, low C of G means easy (and fast) cornering), storage by the bucketload, and a real pleasure to ride, irrespective of the weather. There's a reason why these are still in production, and that double real light array provides a LOT of safety and early visibility, especially if modded to take LED panels. A great all round bike, and I'd not be without mine!
I currently ride a Dl 1000 V storm and a trumpet st 1050. I use the V storm to commute into London every day, I recently took the Burgman 650 on a test ride from Haslemere Motorcycles and loved every minute and was surprised as to how nice it is to ride.
For me and my commute to London every day its perfect, no changing gear and a comfy ride.

i had over 40 motorcycles in the last 13 years, then finally replaced my Versys 650 for a Burgman 400 which i like a lot, everything i ever wanted from a motorcycle it has it: nimble, fuel efficient, confortable, powerful enough, great weather protection, huge underseat storage, and more !

I have a GoPro 4 camera but it suffers badly from wind-noise and it's now mounted on my helmet at the top so I've been trying to find a helmet either with a mic built in or a separate mic. The Burgman range of Scooters are very capable machines, I had a 400 Burgman and it was brilliant, really comfy, the engine electrics died on it so I got rid, but I'd definately have another.
Even though this is a scooter you'd be suprises how many nods you do get from bikers, I now ride a Yamaha xj900 Diversion and I nod at scooter riders because I'm not prejudiced, if it has 2 wheels and an engine, handlebars and a seat, it is a motorcycle.
I bought a second hand silver wing 600 a couple of years ago because I needed to carry a few tool and stuff for work around Dublin I know it’s not quite up there with the burgmann but what a great piece of kit,I have a 99 blade and a hornet 900 street fighter but there for good weather and Sunday morning fun,I find myself using this big maxi scooter for everything shopping,work etc,the lads I have a pint with sometimes give me a rough time about it but I couldn’t give a shit I’ve been on bikes 27 years and I will always have a maxi,great vid and respect 👌👌👌
i have a 2010 burgman executive me and missus love it she loves the comfy seat, it goes really well two up, i like to go summer evening runs in my own singing away to myself, i would definitely buy another,give one a go you,ll be surprised!!

What do you get to the gallon? I have heard some horror stories that they tend to be very thirsty.

@@stevetaylor8698 I’m pretty conservative with the throttle and easily get 55-65mpg when traveling cross country. On the interstate, 55mpg is the norm. (Oh, and I went dark side on the rear )

Your review was fun to watch! I would just like to say that I feel the 650 Burgman does not get the credit it truly deserves. I have ridden many cruisers and most of them feel clunky compared to the 650 Burgman. The culture of motorcycle pirates is part of the reason that the Burgman is not recognized for what it truly is, namely, a highly efficient, capable , and technologically advanced motorcycle - not to mention really fun!
Front brake lever is on the left bar, rear on the right. Use both together and it almost eliminates brake dive. I have the earlier model. Its great for me as I have M.E and fibromyalgia. MPG is about 50-55. Tank does about 120-140 miles. Use power mode and it will surprise some bikes. I outran a new Bonneville 900 from a 30 limit. He couldn't keep up going uphill in power mode and he WAS trying!. Nice review BTW
This is one of my bikes. I have the standard model. The most important thing the Executive has is an analog dash. I hate the digital dash because it gets washed out in there sunlight. The other stuff is nice but had they continued the standard model it needed the instrument change.

I have a 150 scooter and it is a blast to ride. I can only imagine how much fun a 650 Burgman would be. I love to throttle and go. I will take this over a motorcycle any day.
Hey spicy you probably don't realise but the heated grips are a bit like the side stand which cuts the engine. A safety feature. So if you want the grips on you turn them on. So easy.
One of the big differences between a scooter and a motorbike is the much smaller wheels, and engine weight not as central (further back). Do you find either of these noticeable much?
Not for racing, mainly thinking about the wheels and potholes (as a general rule larger wheels take bumps better); but also interested if it affects the handling on normal usage (fairly steady town and country road driving, but still spritely enough to nip in and out of traffic in the rush hour, and get past slow vehicles on country roads).

I’m planning on buying the 650, next summer... I’ve been given flack already, as it’s a scooter...I don’t care, it’s bigger then most motorcycles, in ways... My reason for buying is, it’s an automatic... I can’t drive with a clutch.. So this will allow me to get where I want..
Those bikes are EXCELLENT..I regret selling my burgman and I had a BMW c650gt.. now I'm stuck with a Honda goldwing f6b which pretty much go the same speed and it weighs like 850 pounds with less storage that I can't even sell...I can't believe the trade off of admiration for a motorcycle vs. comfort , thrills and practicality of a scooter! 22k vs 11k.. they both tour scooter has more usable storage.. burdman can keep up with the goldwing ,..burgman has better wind protection and it maneuvers better than the f6b .. Oh my f6b got a radio that u can hardly hear at highway speeds..yeah do not get a bike because it has a radio unless u plan on switching out the speakers and amp...

I've had around 20 bikes. From BMWs to Nortons, Hondas, Suzuki, Kawazakies, Harlies, etc, etc. And when I switched to a scooter, there was no going back.
