  • Historically, along Jackson and 6th/7th Streets. Japantown used to be Chinatown. To pay homage to the history of our neighborhood, the festival focuses on celebrating the Japanese and Lunar New Year traditions together. Bringing our history and present together in a harmony of celebration!

Well, there goes the neighborhood. Might as well start calling the town San Jose Chinatown and speak Chinese (I prefer Cantonese). Oh yeah, Japan is now China Lite.

Many peoples have and will live in these lands: excerpt from Alma Thomas
"When I was in the South, that was segregated. When I came to Washington, that was segregated. And New York-that was segregated. But I always thought the reason was ignorance. Culture is sensitivity to beauty. And a cultured person is the highest stage of the human being. If everybody were cultured we would have no wars or disturbance."

@@JTownCommunityTV Enlightenment is the ultimate state of being. Culture is only a stepping stone. You can have high culture and still have wars. Humans love war. There has never been a century that has not seen war.
