  • This is the story of Sebastian, a Pig-tailed Macaque, also a victim of the illegal wildlife pet trade, who is left alone in a non-native habitat.
Please do not keep monkeys and wildlife as pets.
Please do not feed wild animals.
All wildlife belong in their natural habitat. Let's do our parts as human beings to safeguard our remaining natural resources and nature space.

Thank you for the pet trade awareness video. This made me cry for those monkeys. The troupes that were abandoned are all being filmed by vos and I have noticed the vos set up situations to start fights between monkeys , they have poisoned some babies, they have traded babies with mothers. They are manipulating a monkey named Libby now that used to have a baby named Brady but they switched her to a baby named rainbow and they torment those monkeys all day long. I have seen them hit Libby and throw food to keep her distracted from her baby rainbow so they could manipulate rainbow and it’s so frustrating because there are so many channels doing it. There should be laws set in place for them to not be able to film those monkeys because a lot of them end up dead and it all stemmed from irresponsible “pet” owners dumping them after they have served out their usefulness

This is beautifully narrated, and cleverly planned telling the story through the eyes of Sebastian, a stolen'baby pigtail turned adult, something we watch daily here on CZcams but without ever seeing how, or fully understanding why, so many 'abandoned' baby pigtails end up in these man-made troupes in Cambodia. Thank you for sharing this video and I hope your education leads towards better monitoring of abuse videos on CZcams. Very well done indeed. Thank you.

This story of this poor baby macaque breaks my hart in million pieces. Also for the thousands if their species that is on the trade mark. Why are those authorities of those countries not doing something about that trade. And then you get hartless cruel SICK IN THE HEAD "humans" making comments and making a joke of it as some of these babies are horribly mistreated by cruel sadistic "humans" wow I would love to come face to face to those "things that call themselfs human" to give them a piece of my mind. And I wish it was in my hands to send those "people" to jail and hopefully get the same horrible treatment there. I am an elderly lady and in my life have not seen anything as disting as these baby monkey trading. Shame on you.I🤬😠😡😤

FB also. I saw 1 idiot "content creator" in the process of "training" a monkey what was expected of it. When the monkey didn't understand, or just didn't do what the idiot wanted, the guy smacked the monkey so hard, the monkey spun around in midair, before hitting a brick wall head first. So, I reported it. I was as nice & polite as I was here. I got this comment back from FB: "this does not meet our parameters of animal abuse!" So, then I again referrenced the video by name, with a few choice, unsavory words about FB & its "parameters of animal abuse!" Then I went on to describe that I now realized that if it made Zuckerf&^k $$$ it wasn't bad, but God forbid I curse & offend someone's sensabilities! So, I got banned for 29 days & 11 hrs.

A friend of mine, runs a donut shop with her husband for 29 years, Mary Kay rep, lover or her adult kids, her "rescue" doggies, thoroughly nice human being, got banned or suspended from every single group she was in, in one fell swoop, by FB, and she has no idea why....

I'm not member of this channel but I have some knowledge about wildlife animals, because I was volunteer in a Sanctuary years ago.
Monkeys don't make good pets, first at all, they are wildlife life animals, their brain only understand instincts of survival. And by survival. Nothing else matters. The only reason they approached humans is because humans approached them first with food, that represents a way to survive. Otherwise they wouldn't get near to humans.
They aren't domesticated animals, they're wildlife animals with a different DNA.
Dogs came from a wildlife animal like the grey wolf, but Humans spends thousands of years breading different species of wolf and foxes to created a new species, capable to live with the man kind and be domesticated.
You can't domesticated a Wildlife animal, you can tamed them for some time especially when they are babies, but as soon they approached puberty, their survival instinct kick in and they become aggressive
      and unpredictable.
Monkeys are social animals with a Social hierarchy. They have in their DNA their craving for dominance. In their society whoever demonstrate the best dominance skills, is the one who is in charge of the troops (this is how every group of monkey is called) Every group has alpha male and a Dominant Alpha Female. The alpha male is there to protect their group and procreate in that group. When you see monkeys mounted in each other is the way to demonstrate their dominance. They do it with other species like humans and cats an dogs, they trying to demonstrate they are worthy to be in charge of the group. When they reached puberty their need to dominate is stronger, when they feel fear that their survival is in danger they will attack. When you bring a monkey to your house, you should be able to resigned to Social life, to social contact even with your family. They required 24 hrs of attention. A baby will see you as he own species and will treat you like one. Monkeys will pee everywhere and poo every where to mark territory. Owners of monkeys made them use diapers to avoid that. But once the monkeys gets older they will try to take off their diapers, because their hormones kicked in.
Monkeys have a strong smell, because they poo and pee frequently and those are pee has messages for their own species. You can see monkeys smelling the buds of each other because that is one of the way they read message from their species and other species. You can see that they smell cats buds and dogs buts. Is also the way to detect if they have some disease that they should avoid to get.
Grooming is important in their society is the way to socialize but also to gain a better position in their hierarchy. A monkey will groom humans but he/she will expect to be in a better position in their society. A pet monkey will perceived a person outside his troops as enemy or a child as an obstacle to gain a better position in their hierarchy. Most of the cases when you see monkeys attacking children is because they perceived them their opposition to get closer to their highest rank (mom or dad).
Monkeys will attack their owners eventually because they become psychological impair, fighting their own instincts of survival, through tamed methods like drugs and punishment pushed them to the edge.
Most monkeys especially the Macaques carried diseases like herpes and Hepatitis B that can be transferred to humans.
Monkeys are sensible to humans diseases especially baby monkey they can catch the flu and others diseases easily, especially the babies.
Most of pets monkeys ended up shot dead or in Sanctuaries because human can't cope with them after they passed their infant phase. A
A monkey can live 20 to 30 years. And they can't be left alone in a house, because they are wild, they will jump and scratch everything, owners mostly keep them in cages. They should be prepared to clean those cages more than two 2 of the day.
A monkey in captivity developed also bones deformity, because they need sunlight often and they need space to climb and run as daily exercises.
Because humans feed them with food with high content sugar, like Starches and fructose, Most pet monkeys developed diabetes and heart diseases, that made them Ill an desperate.
I hope I covered most of the reasons they should not make good pets.

People need to stop feeding, rescuing, and making pets out of wild animals. The government needs to actually do something about the people feeding and "rescuing" them because it all starts with feeding to build trust and get close.

CZcams doesn't help by paying these people to upload baby monkey videos - mostly abusive ones for the sadists. These people steal these poor baby monkeys to profit from them, then dump them when they are no longer cute or manageable. Its a cruel set up but CZcams think animal abuse is entertaining.

Thank you for fighting wildlife pet trade snd for Sebastian's story. I understand those rules are for ppl at home in general but because this was about Sebastian's story, I cannot help but first think about the effect of such rules on him now -- if people at the carpark stopped feeding Sebastian and the rubbish bins there were closed, and he had no foraging skills, wouldn't he starve to death? ie it doesnt seem like he is in a park or zoo where there is a worker dedicated to feeding him.
The story of the monkey is told in 1st person and we are supposed to care about him as he cant feed or defend himself and is dependent on rubbish bins and handouts. But this is followed by instructions not to leave handouts and to lock rubbish bins. It results in a muddled message. What will happen to discards like Sebastian if the authorities will not care for him?
