This concert was held at our National Stadium, with close to 60k people in attendance! We love Ed Sheeran and JJ both…!!

Ed and JJ met years ago! There’s a photo of them together, taken back in 2019!
The main language in Singapore is English. We are taught to be bilingual from the moment we’re born, pretty much, because at home our parents speak 2 or more languages. The moment we start school we learn English as well as either Mandarin, Malay or Tamil depending on your race. So if you grab any Singaporean off the streets we can speak at least 2 languages, and some can speak different dialects as well like Cantonese or Hokkien.
As a fan of JJ for 20 years now, I can say he is Singapore’s pride and treasure. This is a dream collab!

The venue is huge. 50,000 capacity. Quite large.
We have a balanced appreciation for many languages.
We do Singlish - the basis being malay and with mandarin and dialects (hokkien, cantonese) in it. It's very fun - basically a non-tonal language (English) with tonal language elements...which is confusing for english only speakers.
Wanna say you should get JJ onto your show or Collab!! Really love your reviews.

JJ also sang "I'm Yours" together with Jason Mraz during the Taiwan Golden Melody Award Ceremony in 2014. This song is also worth reviewing. By the way, JJ was awarded the Best Male Artiste during the 2014 ceremony and he repeated the feat in 2016.

I am Singaporean. We speak Singlish here. Which is kinda of like broken english 😂. And singapore is a multi-race country & different races speak in different languages like chinese, malay & indians. But is mandatory for Singaporean to learn english as a first language. So we are being influenced in all sort of music & culture from everywhere.
And yes Ed sheeran is very famous in Singapore. And JJ is Singapore's pride. So when they two came together & performed. It is like worldwide news & surprise to everyone.
Hopefully JJ & Ed Sheeran will do more collab in the near future! 😊
& Coach Rozette should try singing some chinese songs too. You can do it! 😁

Just some info about Singapore, our forefathers came mainly from China, Malaysia, India and Britain (we used to be a British colony). To ensure that we had a common language to communicate with different races, English was chosen as the common language due to economic purposes (so that we could trade with the west.) But everyone still had to learn their mother tongue (Chinese, Malay or Tamil) in school. English is the medium of instruction for all subjects (apart for mother tongue). So yeah, we are very heavily influenced by Western culture, western music etc. An interesting point to note is that Malay is our national language. Our national anthem and army commands are all in Malay. 😊
A side note, if you would like to see JJ sing rock, check out 《独角戏》. It was a challenge presented to him to transform a ballad into a rock song. 😊

Come on to Singapore and experience our melting pot culture, I think you either have someone from the region or from Singapore itself (the lady who's off screen) who can be your tour guide. 😊
Ed was performing in our National Stadium, the largest concert venue in Singapore. I think he broke the record this round for having over 60k crowd in a single show as he adopted a 360° stage setup opening up all corners to the audiences fully making use of the full arena capacity instead of the usual way by sealing off a corner for a bigger stage / backstage. I'm not sure if he broke his personal record as well.
Yes, people over here listen to all kinds of music, a pretty heavy weightage of Western music as well, but I think we're all under the same threat of getting swept away by Kpop these days... 😆
