Asia is relatively known imagine the mess if they ever do Africa when most people act like the whole continent is one country
For me, Africa is relatively easy. I would like to see them do that though.
I am actually quite shocked they did so well for Asia.

To point out the states completely in Asia there are 40, in addition there are 9 transcontinental states (Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey, Cyprus, Indonesia, Egypt). Since Egypt is considered Africa and Russia, being a Slavic people that conquered Asia, we consider Europe if we have to choose between Europe and Asia, in more buzzfeeds it considered 2 countries in the list that are not part of the United Nations or both Palestine, Taiwan (technically an integral part of China), so the number is 50 but according to my calculation, the countries of Asia are 47 (there are no Russia, Taiwan and Palestine in the list).

I guess the difference between Russia and Egypt is that _geographically_ , 77% of Russia's total area is in Asia, while 94% of Egypt's total area is in Africa. Therefore, it's legitimate to have Russia counted as a country in Asia, while Egypt is not.
The argument that Russia is founded by a Slavic (= "culturally European") people is irrelevant, because we don't consider Canada, USA, Mexico, Australia etc. as Europe either.

Buzzfeed doesn't need to choose between two continents, it puts Russia (as well as Turkey, Cyprus, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan) simply in both continents because they're focusing on making it a purely geographical question (not a history, economy or culture question).

The UN recognizes 195 sovereign states: Palestine and the Holy See/Vatican City State don't need to be member states in order to be recognized as states. Switzerland wasn't a member state of the UN until 2002, but that doesn't mean that Switzerland didn't exist as a sovereign country prior to 2002.
Furthermore, Buzzfeed can include and/or exclude regions for their video's geography trivia quiz question along any arbitrary criteria they wish. So if their criterion apparently is "states that are member states or observer states in the UN or a UN Specialized Agency", then so be it.
So your argument "Usually in these games it is necessary to premise that nations must be members of the united nations" is simply wrong.

Oh my God. In 7th Grade we had an activity where we had to label the map of asia on a small map of asia and the next day we had to locate all countries in a big blank map of asia in front of the class in less than 2 minutes. I got a perfect score on both tests and I was just a 7th GRADER!
P.s. some of my classmates also got perfect scores on both quiz. Also I'm from the Philippines
most people can do that sort of thing when they are in school and studying the topic. if you give a person a map and an hour they could probably do the exact same thing

As someone from East Asia, I think they do pretty well. I still have not been able to memorize all countries gaining independence after 1989 (I learned my geography way before then). Maybe some in Central Asia, but the Caucasus I definitely cannot.

Me and my siblings used to get a map, then one of us would name a country in a specific region, then others had to find it, and the one who would find, would name the next country. it was very entertaining game.

yeah Indonesia is a trans-continent country so same thing with Russia (only west side belongs to Europe), only west and middle side of Indonesia belongs to Asia. Try to read about Wallace Line, its explain where the border beetween asia and australia continent. In other word, nothing wrong with that map

Personally i can easily remember countries that are archipelagic or at least just an island because you can easily read their names on the map for example Japan, Philippines, New Zealand, Indonesia, Taiwan, Madagascar, Iceland etc.. kinda disappointed that they don't know where Philippines and Indonesia haha..
