    I am going to my second track day next Friday and I am learning/soaking up

    Champ school is a different approach to riding especially in the corners than most of us have been doing for much of riding life. The biggest change we as riders need to make is to start riding based on the direction of the bike. Listening to Chris and Nick's repeated focus on "direction" is exactly the approach we need to adopt. Thanks for the on track demonstrations of what this focus looks like when riding the bike.

    Great information. I'm just about through the online Champ U. I have been riding on street most of my 56 years. I'm starting my 3rd season of track riding here in the midwest soon. I will say I have found several reasons I have plateaued. The whole using turn in and braking exact points on the track has always been hard for me. I think now with the umbrella of direction mentality and braking longer through a corner will calm my brain alot. Can't wait to really put this to work! Would love to take the 2 day class Sumner 2022 as I'm real close to the Autobahn country club here in Illinois. Thanks.

    great video... completely agree, that other video 'brake, gas, turn' is completely wrong and dangerous.. i just hope the students in that particular video listened to the instructors on the day and not the advice from mr moss ... adding gas and lean.. (and destroying the hook from the front tyre to get the bike turned and pointing down the track) ... teaching them to enter the corner to slowly ... much more chance the novice rider will get greedy with the throttle on exit trying to keep up with other riders who are gapping them on corner exit ... i'd be interested how many comment have been removed from that other video

    Great stuff guys, thanks for posting! I attended ChampSchool at NJMP a few years ago and it has helped me a bunch. One question I have for Nick, Chris, E, and team is that as a guy trying to improve his trail braking technique on track I don't often trail brake on the street; to me trail braking on the street is sketchier than the track. I assume the grip level on track is better than the street, if I get into a corner on the street and assume I am going to trail brake through it but there is sand there, I am going too fast to make the corner and stay in my lane aren't I? The very nature of trail braking means you can enter the corner faster knowing you are going to brake longer and if you can't brake longer due to sand, then what?

      We never suggest rushing corner entry to maintain brake pressure through the corner. We simply want to keep the brakes on past tip in until we are happy with speed and direction. 1% of brake pressure is still trail braking and infinity more adjustable than simply rolling off the throttle.
      If you go into that corner with the brakes on and there is sand in the middle of the corner, you have an immediate option avoid it.

      @@Ridelikeachampionycrs Exactly. Well said. As a YCRS grad myself, I have more than once needed to pick up a bit more brake in the corner due to a hazard (usually gravel) to get my radius even tighter and avoid it.. Had I not been trailbraking at 1-5%, my option option would've been to lean more and THAT is sketchy.

    EVERYONE needs to watch this video!! Knowledge is power... and safety. I crashed twice because I did not account for suspension/geometry. First one I "ran out" of road in a corner, second and last one I overloaded my forks on a road hazard I did not react to properly. (But who builds a 5-inch mound of asphalt across the highway at the bottom of a hill??) Never again!
