Also good for keeping first aid and medical supplies in
Yes, we have a lot of people (fire/ems/police) using them for first aid! Another great use! Thank you!
There was an older fella in a motor inn who had two rooms filled to the gills just like this in Howes cave NY, on the access road. His son was head of the security detail for Condoleezza Rice. He had the inside for his dad on the big scores, He had everything you could imagine. It was called Bobs bunker. I scored 4 brand new pair of woodland camo cargo pants at 10 bucks a pair. I also got a pair of desert tan boots for 35 bucks brand new. I went back some time later and it was cleared out. He was a good ole guy.
When I ran a mobile tool truck route I used to sell these cans to the mechanics as small tool boxes and continers for delicate diagnostic electronics instruments. Many of them were gun guys too.
Yes, the cans are great for tools and equipment! Thank you for sharing!
Been buying these since the 80s. Great investment.
I recently picked up a WW2 side opening 50 caliber ammo box in near perfect condition. On the lid on top it is stamped in ink ( REJECT) After looking it over good, I discovered it has never had a rubber gasket installed in it. No signs of any glue in the area, just nice paint. I recently brought up this idea on a gun forum. How about using 30 caliber ammo cans for GI burial urns. Cans should be from the era the GI served and one could also include service records and some pictures. On the outside could be a brass plaque with the GI's name, rank and time served.
Well, the can isn't empty if it has the paper inside, now is it?
Don’t even get me started on the mixed gases we call air that filled the can quite nicely!
@@dr.froghopper6711 not to MENTION all of the dust particles and microscopic organisms that could live there
😂😂
Do this with ammo cans and Tygon and Nalgene bottles... drop in dry ice and let melt. Check with match and when match goes out... seal.
If you want the lid to be permanent...knock out the pins with a drift punch...
Then knock off the insulation of a 5/32 weld rod..drive in,cut off excess
Watch local estate auctions. Lots of pro 2A boomers passing away, leaving ammo cans up for grabs. I bagged 12 such cans last summer for about $30.
Thanks buddy, those are some great ideas.
Thank you!
My experience with the cans sold at harbor Freight is that you have to go to the store in person and check the seals on the ones you buy.
I get them at local gun shows
@@jimmyruger7529 last gun show i went to they tried selling a harbor frieght .30 cal plastic ammo box for $8, when you can just go to harbor freight and get the same one new for $4
They are not genuine
Do not get the plastic ammo cans. They do not seal and flex when loaded with your goods.
Just get the real ones
I heard on the news someone bought some storage containers, when they arrived, they started going through them to sell and a few had M16 still in them Brand new.
There's a feller on the east coast by the name of Justin Johnson. This man makes 3 string guitars out of ammo cans, shovels, cigar boxes. He's also a very talented musician. Check em out.
Thank you so much for sharing! We checked him out and wow, very cool! Now there's an ammo can idea we hadn't thought of. We posted his videos on our Facebook page. Thanks again! facebook.com/thedufflebag
My mother inspected ammunition at the Salt Lake. Oregon depothat was her number was number 9. If anybody had animals camp, that was in a spectrum by number 9 at Salt Lake ordinance depot. Please inform me. That can was inspected by my mother.
My mother inspected shoes at the Buster Brown shoe company back in the year of 1930. Making good money , 12 cent's an hour. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!
Nice!
Thank you!
.30 cal cans hold about 160 rounds of 30-06 perfectly.......great video!
Thnak you!
Or 3 bandoliers if you pack it right.
180 rounds?@@bennyclark5560
My range bag is a .50 cal. can.
Which silicone fir the gasket seals ?
Thanks
Wal-Mart has metal ammo cans in my location
Need to get the real ones
If shipping both, a thirty will fit inside a fifty.
tupperware for men! lol
Including those 2, I have 5 other sizes.
Cool old man and cool store. Unfortunately, it’s better now to buy ammo candy from harbor freight than from these stores. I know the old man would punch me for that, but it’s true. I’ve always bought ammo cans from surplus stores and half the time the seal wasn’t good but it’s what we had. Harbor freight sells 30 and 50 gallon ammo cans with perfect seals and no imperfections. They’ve been torture tested and they hold up better than used military cans. And, they’re brand new.
I do miss having all the cans with the military markings, but it is what it is. Not to mention most surplus stores just ask too k
Ask too much for the cans now. Many times they want more than the harbor freight cans which is just ridiculous considering the harbor freight cans are brand new and fully functional. Times change.
@@skuttsupreme8351 you left the made in china part out ?
Easy to find. Harbor freight.
WRONG!
The ones at Harbor Freight, Northern Parts, Tractor Supply etc. are made in China!!!
The metal isn’t same. The gasket is crap! Not airtight!
The Chinese are always in trouble with toxic paint found on baby toys and even dog/cat toys. Lord knows what kind of crappy paint they put on those cans!
As I said in my presentation, really nice ones are getting hard to find. Even the ones offered by Sportsman’s Guide are starting to lack in quality.
SG is now supplementing their inventory with BLACKHAWK brand ammo cans. Ask them where they are made. Fancy names mean nothing.
On another note, thanks for “tuning in!”
I welcome comments or questions on any item of Militaria .
I appreciate your feedback and subscription!
“… and, you can build a lithium-iron-phosphate battery in the taller 50 cal… “
Hey! Thanks for the idea.
Any more ideas out there?
@@thedufflebaginc4631 seems I’m far from the first to speak of the matter - there supposedly have been a number of people doing this, some on CZcams.
Love the "typical taxpayer money"
Classic. Just classic.
Those same people need instructions on the heel of a boot too. Especially if that boot accidentally gets filled with urine and they're lost as what to do....
TW viewer. Thank you.
The geocaching community loves these cans for hiding caches.
Yes, awesome for geocaching!
Im looking to replace the gaskets, but cannot find a source. Any leads on that anyone?
Hi I don’t have any resources for gaskets at this time but will see if I can find some information for you.
@@thedufflebaginc4631 ; thank you. Ill keep searching as well
If someone pulls the lid off and thinks they broke it, they are obviously not smart enough to own one and are a shining example of our country's education system.
Yup 😮
I just got 12 says made in china😩 gunna do the water test
Make sure there is no ammo in it 😂
Where sis you buy them?
