Inspired by the themes and emotions of Alanis Morissette’s Grammy Award®-winning album, and written by Academy Award® winner Diablo Cody (Juno, Tully), JAGGED LITTLE PILL is an original story about love, about family, and the perfect imperfections that make us who we are.
Featuring Morissette’s iconic songs including “Ironic,” “You Oughta Know,” and “Hand In My Pocket,” as well as newly written material, this “big-hearted musical that breaks the mold” (The New York Times) is directed by Tony Award® winner Diane Paulus (Waitress, Pippin) with music supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements by Pulitzer Prize winner Tom Kitt (Next to Normal), and movement direction and choreography by Olivier Award winner and frequent Beyoncé collaborator Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.

Saw it today on Broadway and it was so so good. Vocally, Antonio and Lauren were standouts. But truly, the whole cast was AMAZING.
I completely agree! I saw it on Saturday and those two stood out to me as well. Especially Lauren during her solo.

My heart skips a little every time I see a new video from this production :’) this is the kind of original musical the world NEEDS and I’m so grateful that this show is allowing a new generation to be able to experience the music of Alanis Morissette in such a beautifully crafted, musically rich performance.

I at first reread your comment and instead of reading “this is the kind of original MUSICAL the world needs” I read, “This is the kind of original MUSIC the world needs”. Because I misread the comment, you get to live another day. (Totally kidding!) have you seen the Jagged Little Pill musical?
I love musical theatre. But this is the antithesis of an original musical. Wicked is an example of a show with songs written just for it, not reverse engineered in this lazy fashion with the tits and teeth brigade thinking that they’re the ones bringing this music to the world’s attention.
JLP is an astounding album and is quite readily available for any new generation to discover and enjoy for themselves.
What is it about this music you think the world needs? I'm not that familiar with Alanis's music.

I'm 38 and bought JLP when it first came out, and I still can relate to all of the songs in some way (from my teen to adult self), because that's how timeless Alanis' music and that album are. Still a huge fan after all these years. :)

Oh man, seeing Alanis in the audience (during rehearsal, I suppose) gives me chills. "Jagged little pill" came out when she was in a completely different phase of her life...and the songs represent the things she went through and the people that she met such a long a time ago. I wonder how she feels seeing this over 2 decades later, being a mom now, etc.
Just saw it last Friday. I loved how the show wove the story into the album's songs, rather than it just being a concert with some acting in-between. Even to the point that some of the lyrics were slightly altered to fit the plot.

One of the best musical broadway shows i have ever seen. Spectacular and moving. Music is the best.
Awesome show! So lucky to see it today. I agree about others posting about Lauren's performance. I have never felt so much emotion from a performance since Jennifer Holiday's "And I'm Telling You" performance from Dream Girls. And I've never seen a standing ovation in the middle of the show in all the musicals I've seen! Crazy!

I just saw this maybe three weeks ago. And I would honestly put it in the same caliber of internal revelation and brilliant writing as Dear Evan Hansen! More than that, it was powerful, and brilliant, its messages were perfectly on point and hit exactly right, and I loved every moment, no matter how hard it was at times. And so many fantastic actors and actresses in it too, with such amazing voices!

The original cast is wonderful, really but I saw it 11/13 with Heidi Blickenstaff and Morgan Dudley and Dudley is overflowing with talent and potential. But...I was really blown away by Blickenstaff. When I heard the cast recording I knew at once that it was another singer/actress. No offense to Stanley because she sounds fantastic. But witnessing Blickenstaff up close was phenomenal. Just amazing and with a voice maybe more comparable to Morrisette's she just nailed it for me. Kudos to everyone involved with this show. Thanks so much!
