Not sure why no one understands what’s going on… but she is overdosing in this scene. The scene right at the end is them finding her unconscious and getting an ambulance to get her to the hospital. 😩
I'm currently struggling with alcohol and I can't watch this without crying. Not because it's 'bad,' but because between the rewritten lyrics and the amazing choreography it's perfect. It says so much more about struggling with addiction than plain words ever could. Thank u.
Same. The bit where the person wraps her at the beginning like a an addiction wraps us in cotton wool so we do not have to deal with our route cause of our addictions. That part was very relatable. ❤
this was an AMAZING number in the show her battling and wrestling with herself to signify her, struggling with addiction, and eventually overdosing was just so well done 10/ 10
Physically, breathtaking. Emotionally, tragic. The whole thing is stunning! Your chemistry together is simply exquisite! There is something about the way you move and interpret the choreography that sends chills over my body. Your physical strength is tremendous and because you emit so much passion into your talent, I feel your performance in my bones! ❤
I remember watching this scene at the ART. I remember a bit more of a dueling choreography for some reason, but it was one of the most captivating scenes I had seen.
I saw it at ART also, no idea what it was going to be about going in. This is my favorite scene of the entire musical, unfortunately I think that it was bound to be overshadowed by the preceding number with Lauren. Loved it on Broadway, but there was something about the ART version that just hit a little bit more raw.
I've only recently discovered this musical and this is, by far, my favorite part. Thank you for posting this, and for sharing your beautiful gift of dance with us.
Just saw this for the first time on the national tour last night. This, plus the few moments where her family discovers her right after this, had me muttering “fuck” under my breath. Truly gorgeously put together, and particularly heart wrenching as someone whose mom suffered from, and ultimately succumbed to, an opiate addiction.
I have to say that out of the show this number specifically was the most triggering. It's like everything one feels when the need come over you but you don't want to fall, or at least I'd imagine that's what it must feel.
In this song, MJ is overdosing due to Bella’s sexual assault bringing up traumatic flashbacks to an experience she had in college. Bella in the background is representative of that, and also shows the parallels between their two stories.
@@MarkiemooPressPToPlay I think they both feel like dying at this point thats why bellas a dark demon at the back? The amazing dancer is her facing her soul trying to fight but losing.
Saw the show back in December and have been on an Alanis kick ever since! It took looking at the soundtrack on apple music to remember Bella was in the scene but thinking about it it makes sense. SPOILER MJ is fighting for her life and Bella is fighting to be listened to after being raped.
Ok dream cast for movie version mj should be Jessica chastain steve brad Pitt Frankie, nick,Jo,Bella, and phoenix probably Anne Curtis, joe Jonas , Sharlene Woodley, Maia morgenstern and Shazad latif
I sang a cover of this version of “Uninvited”, but sang the original lyrics of the song on my You Tube channel, & I choose to not just look as messed up in my sweats, like you and Elizabeth, but I also acted as ****ed up as MJ in this scene! I wish I have a dancer friend, who looks like me, so she can dance as your doppelgänger character in my video, but hey! It’s all good! If you see my Uninvited cover video, I hope you enjoy it, & I hope I did this scene justice.
I'm severely disappointed "jagged little pill" is taken so literal and the drug is made focus for this entire production. It ignores the "hard truth" that is hard to swallow. The jagged pill that might cause pain to get down but eventually feels good swimming in your stomach. The moment the dust clears and you see things brighter than before. Superficially this album appears to be about struggling with romantic love, but the lyrics go much deeper. Wasted opportunity.
Oh sacred tis thy fire... Watch ur dreams as a young soul... Oh thy may and candence I play... And beautiful soul few will tame... Bliss risen and a love that play's and a bliss I main3d #rowl4nd99 for #MrsMorrisste
In most of the songs the words change a line or 2 to fit the narrative. The script changes a little in versions too. I do prefer the last scene line where MJ says her husbands listened to a lot of alanis lately to the husband can still only play one alanis cord on his guitar. #picky Its all amazing anyway and I love both versions with both Jo's.
I would pay any amount of money to watch this show live for the first time again. Such a powerful show.
In person people were devastated by this number.
I had to hold my friends hand while crying
Not sure why no one understands what’s going on… but she is overdosing in this scene. The scene right at the end is them finding her unconscious and getting an ambulance to get her to the hospital. 😩
which is followed by Sean Kralls’s big solo piece “What’s the matter Mary Jane?”
As well as that, her memories of being sexually assaulted in college have come back, hence the younger blonde girl while she’s ODing.
Exactly! Plus facing her adolescent past that she had been covering for years.
I love this scene!

Me too.
It really does.
100% agree

I feel this so much

This entire show is breathtaking. I was mesmerized and in awe throughout the entire thing.
A powerful testament to addiction. The choreography is amazing.
Just saw the touring company in Toronto and this scene is even better now ❤️
I saw it in Toronto too and here l am, months later, watching this bootleg. It was devastating.

I absolutely adored this show.
This show is the best this is like my favorite song

I just saw the national tour. I definitely interpreted it as more of a duel.

Mine too. This scene blew me away.
I was already crying a lot before this number - but this destroyed me. SO powerful!

Was so glad they included this song in the show, it’s easily my fave Alanis song and worked perfectly for this scene.
You are SUCH a phenomenal dancer!! I was lucky enough to see the show before the shutdown and your dancing was one of my favorite parts!!
WOW this was one of my favorite numbers of the show. Elizabeth is just so amazing to watch. I saw the show in January✨
I have to say that out of the show this number specifically was the most triggering. It's like everything one feels when the need come over you but you don't want to fall, or at least I'd imagine that's what it must feel.
This performance was a gut punch. Exquisitely haunting and unbelievably powerful.
One of those moments when you don't want it to end.
I just keep coming back to this video it’s so good
Best number in the show by miles! Seeing it live was powerful.
so powerful it makes me cry
THIS show and this scene. Everything was so raw and real, the choreography was amazing. I felt this show. Tears rolled down my face

This. This is how you feel. Stunning. I have no words only tears
Just saw this show in Lincoln, NE. Wow! What an incredible show. Very powerful.
Lost my bestie to this disease. Act two MJ reminds me of my friends final days and it’s haunting, relatable and very well performed.
WOW! just wow!
Wow, powerful stuff!
I saw this in person couple months after my brother died of an OD and I was sobbing
Absolutely MASSIVE trigger warning for this BUT it was breathtaking and I couldn’t stop watching
Trully amazing!
I just saw it tonight.... I was in awe
WOW! powerful., teargerking
Watching this live was so powerful, Brava!

Wow! Just wow
😮 wow
Wow it's fantastic.
Interesting ❤
FUCKING POWERFUL. Damn.
Ilove you somuch miss
Sucks to see all the original cast members are gone. it’s just not the same without them. Lauren included.
This show got a ppp loan of ten million dollars during the pandemic.
I don't get why Bella is standing in the back. Can someone explain please
In this song, MJ is overdosing due to Bella’s sexual assault bringing up traumatic flashbacks to an experience she had in college. Bella in the background is representative of that, and also shows the parallels between their two stories.
@@alialynngonz thank you so much! That makes sense!
I always thought Bella represents death at this point
@@MarkiemooPressPToPlay I think they both feel like dying at this point thats why bellas a dark demon at the back? The amazing dancer is her facing her soul trying to fight but losing.

It's coming back to Broadway, right?
Is she having an out of body experience? hence the dancer?
She kinda represents her addiction
She's overdosing.
She is overdosing on drugs and has to face trauma from her life. There are two dancers because one represents a younger version of her
Is the show now available in full not camera phones!!!????
Michael Meyers?

For #Alanis vonrautio
This was my least favorite song of the album, but my favorite performance in the play.
Heather Lang. Heather Lang. She makes it look effortless. So not. What an artist.
I sang a cover of this version of “Uninvited”, but sang the original lyrics of the song on my You Tube channel, & I choose to not just look as messed up in my sweats, like you and Elizabeth, but I also acted as ****ed up as MJ in this scene! OK why she rolls over the sofa? I could imagine that music in other ways
She's ODing on drugs

The show is about her unresolved trauma.
have you seen the show? it’s about much more than MJ’s addiction
The play is also based on the album Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette.

Why change the words??
Alanis herself worked closely with the company and made slight changes to the lyrics to fit the story better.
In most of the songs the words change a line or 2 to fit the narrative. The script changes a little in versions too. That's okay! They arent for everyone. I personally love and adore them.
