    Ive watched all of the vids I can find on Bob Heil. Most of them multiple times. One can either choose to learn from individuals like him, or one can lose out on a wealth of knowledge that teaches us something we may not have known.

      What do you expect from a couple of old pirates from the late sixties early 70's. Over in England. He forgot George Thomas he is another Partner of Kirk's. I never get tired listing to their stories including Ted Randell's over at their shortwave station above the Grand Ole' Opere Hotel in Nashville. WTWW

    We'v used Bob Heil's mics in the Ham (Amateur) radio world for decades... I bought the model PR 781 for my Kenwood TS-850S and it sounds amazing on the air... 73's DE KK4MMM..

    Im new to HAM....got my callsign first week of June 2020....general in July....Extra in August. After getting my first HF rig, FT-991, and then got a Heil PRAS. Oh man....amazing. My wife is not easily impressed, and she was amazed. Hooked it up to a powered JBL speaker designed by Heil. Now have a PR-40 on order. Have spent most of my time, effort, and cost in my shack in Antenna, Grounding, RFI reduction, and Sound.

    35:00 as an argument for having boring sounding mics.
    Yes, the HEILs are great on stage. Absolutely. They ARE the best. Handsdown.
    But they sound harsh when not listening in a live environment.
    Since many shows gets broadcasted and since people expect studio sound from broadcasted liveshows these days. I have no choice to go with the Shures, Sennheiser and Neumanns.
    Especially the Neumann condensor handmics. It's almost as if you are in a studio when the end mixing is done.
    Outside that, LOVE HEIL mics for HAM, broadcasting and instruments.

    I use an old dynamic GE mobile mic from the '60's or '70's on my mobile radio because I can be driving down the road at 70 mph with my window down and can barely hear my radio, but people tell me I sound like I'm sitting in my shack. Whatever magic GE did with the acoustics of that plastic mic and the mic element really works. Chinese junk it ain't.

  • @mrmrlee
    @mrmrlee Před 3 lety

    For Ham radio, I prefer a mic with a sharper, harsher tone. Studio sound is ok for podcasters, but to talk to England from the USA on 75 watts and get through clearly, with great audio reports, I'll take a sharper toned mic! BTW I use a $15 Pyle PDMIC78 for my European DX.

    Wanted to learn more about Microphones, as the title indicates. After 6 min.plus of self adulation and supposed non-biased product opnions, I've had enough. My takeaway, these people have come together with their personal friend Bob Hiel to help hawk his products.
    Nice try...

    Heil microphones are over rated. No one in the broadcast business will ever take Bob's microphones seriously because he's a little indentured. But they are OK for CB ham radio.
