Wonderful! I love reading weird fiction as well as exploring its connections to its origins, whether Gothic or Decadence. Can't believe there's an entire lecture series on youtube for free, the Internet is beautiful and you're awesome for providing those videos
I enjoyed the lecture. Thank you 😊. Several great collections based on Chamber’s yellow king world recently: cassilda’s song, a season in carcosa, in the court on the yellow king...
My favourite in the book. It is an absolute masterpiece. It is one of my favorites of all time, alongside Laski's The Tower. I hope you enjoyed the rest of The King and that you are ok.
You are the King (in what colour I cannot tell for the darkness); the absolute king. I take my mask off before this brilliant lecture and bow down. If I wasn't clear enough previously, please accept my apology: You are THE king. Thank you.
SPOILER From a few hints in this and some of the latter stories, we discover that The Repairer of Reputations doesn't actually take place in the future but in the present. He hallucinated that he was further along in time and basically imagined up all the societal changes. The rest of the horror stories took place in the present.
I managed to get to the third act, but I now spend all my life savings on psychological treatment and the anesthetizing of my consciousness, 'parent of all horrors'.
It seems that the 2-part play, “the King in Yellow” is the 1st 2 movies in the Star Wars sequel trilogy (“The Force Awakens” and “The Last Jedi”). 😜 Supreme Leader Snoke is the King in Yellow. 😜 Those movies seem to have driven many Star Wars fans mad and they have cursed the writer of those films. 🤪
nah. it's one of those things people aren't going to try to write out, because it can't possibly be as bad as it should be. we're talking "inconceivable" levels of insanity-inducing horror. :D

What a great explanation! Thank you!
Rereading this book right now(I'm right now on story 3:In the Court of the Dragon).WOW!

@@mattinthehat3 no, not yet; but it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God! 😏
@@OnceTheyNamedMeiWasnt well played my friend.
The first four stories are where it's at for me the rest I just kinda go meh. Lol 🤣
Very good and informative
Professor Weird, will there by homework?
It seems not..
Yes. You must now read Laski's The Tower.

♥️♥️♥️
Does the play have only two acts though? We know that the second one drives people mad, but... maybe there is third one an fourth one?

Wyrd used to be the term for anglo saxon sorcery and the web of fate. I guess this is american style Weird
Is it possible to read the play

@@noh-1386 yes I was half joking because it just serves as a sort of plot point almost. it's like saying is it possible to find cthulu
No it would drive you mad. It is a plot device like the necronomicon
naaah its ifctional and simply cant exist.
What did you think of these four stories anyone who reads this comment?
The King in Yellow wears no mask, just like our Orange King, sorry, President (2020 Covid jokes)
What, no mask? No mask?!?
Literary anarchists being, it would seem to me, free speech absolutists.
"right?...right?...right?...right?..."
