  • A Quick Look at the amazing depictions of animals you will find on Australian coins.
    Note: In this video I referred to the Echidna as a Marsupial. This is incorrect. The Echidna is a Monotreme as is the Platypus. They both lay eggs and do not have a permanent pouch to raise there young in. Although the Echidna does have a temporary pouch that it lays its eggs into to keep them warm. What a fascinating little animal.

      That is absolutely true. I did slip up there,although it is interesting that the echidna unlike the platypus does have a temporary pouch that it lays its eggs into. Also monotreme and marsupial both seem to have evolved from the same ancestor (Synapsids).
      Thanks for the correction.
