    I've talked to a few tuners and the other big benefit of the Race MAF is even with a stock Turbo, it makes custom tuning the car much easier and smoother. The purpose isn't to add HP or more sound. It's to smooth up the airflow and not max the sensor out at 5 volts

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  Před 3 lety

      Is the car tuned? You can look through the device to see what map is on it. If the car isn't tuned and the car runs fine with the intake you have, then it's the street version.

    My car has been running the PRL Short Ram Race MAF intake with a TSP Stage 1 race maf tune, and it seems to have lost power. It's going slower than it should. Feels like I'm intaking more air than fuel than I am supposed to. Is this normal? If not, is this an issue with the flashing or just with the intake itself?

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  Před 5 měsíci

      If something changed at some point in time after installing that intake and tune, it's most likely not either one of those things. Something mechanically happened that you'll need to pinpoint, most likely. If you're saying it lost power after installing them, I would go back over your install and make sure everything is properly installed and securely fastened. If there is any post MAF leak, it would definitely cause the car to experience issues that prevent it from using all the power.

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  Před 4 lety +1

      I don't think you'd see a big enough difference to make up for the money spent. It was only a slight difference for us. But I think you probably need a larger turbo for it to make sense in this situation. The stock turbo isn't going to max out the stock maf housing. But if you think you're going to get a bigger turbo one day, you can definitely just do this first. Or you can just do it anyway if you really want! Wouldn't hurt.

    Does it work with the hood closed tho???

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  Před 4 lety +3

      It's tough to do that sort of testing on the dyno. We don't have nearly the airflow on the dyno that we do on the street so that's why we go hood open. Plus, we want to stay consistent with variables as much as we can. With the new hood on this car, I'm sure that we have plenty of air movement in the engine bay on this car in particular. But your point is valid.

    So I'm torn... 27won or this? 27won acts like a CAI but maintenance of a SRI but PRL race maf tends to get the most spot light. 27won has a airbox which to me keeping heat down is greater than airflow. If you heat soak then airflow doesn't really matter all that much?

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  Před 4 lety +1

      I don't have experience with that one but just looking at it, it probably works fairly well. Unfortunately, they only sell direct to consumer so we won't be getting into testing or reviewing that product at this time. A box is 100% useful and effective though.

      @Itz_JayM Před 4 lety +1

      @@mze7101 More or less the reason would be it doesnt have any metal piping. Metal piping holds more heat which with the engine so close it will heat up the metal piping pretty fast. Silicon keeps those temps down a bit better. Temps matter more when you are bumping up the power as hotter temps can cause detonation. Also because you can buy an adapter at a later time to convert it into a cold air intake makes it really convenient.
