I wish my weight would shrink along with the products 😂. You gotta laugh to keep from crying 😢.
I totally thought that too!
Right?!😂
😂
Not only food items are shrinking but the taste of food is going down the tube. I used to go to just one store with the best bargains to shop. Now, I have to go to many different stores to find the best price and the best bargain available. We can't just run in and out to get a few things. Today shopping has become a half a day to all day shopping event with paying attention to store coupons, and even the damage bin that some stores have. Everything is shrinking but the prices aren't. I'm having to beg from the proverbial Peter and Paul in order to buy groceries. Things that the poor people depended on as being cheap is no longer cheap. I bought a 5-pound bag of cornmeal this week and was shocked at the price. The last time I bought some it was 2.59, I paid 4.99 this time. I'm 67 and have dealt with a lot of things in the past that was not pleasant, but I really feel for the younger generations that haven't had to deal with things like this. Hope the best for everyone.
So true! Takes a day to prepare your battle plan to shop for groceries.
Raising a large family, we made most everything from scratch. We rarely bought boxed cereal. I bought oats from the food co-op and we had oatmeal. Had chickens, raised a garden, canned tomatoes and made salsa, etc. If serious, we CAN narrow our menus and make from scratch. Especially now that there are youtube videos to teach us anything.
I am already doing some from scratch because crackers are at my nope not spending that price. Plus I know exactly what we are eating.
Shrinkflation is also messing up recipes!
In 2023 cake mixes shrank to 15.25 ounces from 18 ounces. They may have shrunk again. But this is the cake upsizer I have from 2023 to increase the volume to the old standard size. Cake mixes used to be 18.5 ounces, now in (2023) 15.25 ounces
Make a batch of cake mix upsizer and store to add to cake mix. Use 6 tablespoons. It will bring back the volume to your cake. Then add the ingredients on the box.
Upsizer Mix:
1. 1.5 cups all purpose flour.
2. 1 cup of granulated sugar.
3. 2 tsps Baking Powder.
4. 1/4 tsp Baking Soda.
5. Whisk together in a bowl, and store in a glass jar or wide mouth mason jar.
6. Add 6 tablespoons of the upsizer. For yellow, white, spice, etc
7. For CHOCOLATE cake mix add 4.5 tablespoons AND 1.5 Tablespoons of Cocoa Powder.
The government is letting companies price gouge. Thats why this is happening.
It’s All by design!

2 yrs ago GV bread WAS .68, now 1.45.
GV ranch salad dressing was .98, now 1.98.
GV sliced package ham was 2.50, now 3.98.
Many of the GV snack items that were under $1, like chips, pretzels, etc, now doubled in price.
😳
Walmart was $39 a share 2 yeas ago. Today it closed at an all time high of $70+ a share. 💰💸💵🤑
The GV Mac & Cheese in 2021 was 34 cents a box. Last time I bought it was . 68 cents a box.
Consequences of currency devaluation, will only worsen.
This isn't a food item but I buy Affresh for my dishwasher and washing machine. We have hard water and it just keeps things working better. It used to be a 6 month supply and now it's only 5 tablets in the box for the washing machine. As for food, I've noticed nothing tastes the same and things are definitely smaller sizes.
I complained on FB to Fritos about the taste of the last bag I bought tasting like cardboard. They sent me 3 coupons for $4.95 off any of their products. I ended up paying $1.00 a bag...because of the price, I probably won't be buying them again.
Greetings Danno, no intrest in your vacationing, but the product/store reports have my full attention. ❤

I still have anything he posts running even if I'm about my business doing something else at the same time to help his channel 😊

I’m right there with you! I am interested in the store videos, and I get that he finds these a bit depressing, but that’s what I like to watch.
I watch all of them

Ice cream is shrinking and some of the more loaded flavors are even smaller.
Ice cream was the first product that I saw shrink, and this was a couple of years ago.
I miss the actual 1/2 Gallon cartons.
I have seen a lot of things that have shrunk with or without price increases BUt something VERY SCARY to me is that as a BOOST member,Kroger is giving me a LOT of FREE items this sale-cycle. God knows how high things will rise to very soon.
Hey Danno
Do you remember when I talked about the many times in my life I have seen this happen? Most of your viewers are to young as well as yourself. In the early 1970’s gas was around 0.38-0.58 cents per gallon. Grocery prices were well within affordable range. Then the late 70’s gas went up to 0.99 cents per gallon. Gas was rationed to even and odd days. The price climbed as high as $1.75 per gallon. Grocery prices were outrageous as well. Then in 1980 the gas prices leveled out to $1.19 per gallon and everyone was grateful. Same situation with the grocery prices occurred. After a few more years this will level out and the strange thing is everyone will be grateful again. I saw this in 1960, 1973, 1978 without a reason. We were told there was a food and gas shortage. We imported products much less back then. Coffee more than quadrupled in price due to weather in Columbia. This high price never recovered. In 1960 a bag of coffee was 0.35 cents. By 1980 that bag of coffee was $3.20. Please keep helping us all with finding the best prices. What you do EVERYDAY is better than money. I do believe prices will eventually come down a bit and level off to a new normal as has happened in the past. I’m worried about you because I see genuine bewilderment and frustration in your eyes. Please take care of yourself and Jess. Sorry this is so long but I felt it needed to be said. Thank you for the sacrifice of your time and energy you give so freely to our CZcams family. God bless you and Jess.
@@gma1343 thank you for the wonderful details of past events. I hope and pray you are right. God bless.
I remember a lot of this at the time I lived in rural south GA. We grew up blessed together and very poor. All of our meals came from the garden, plowed with mules, wood stoves out houses. What I remember the most was my grand ma was there day and night. Strange I find myself talking to her daily as I try draw back on what we were taught. May the lord bless you and your family.
I remember gas price wars like .26-.32/gallon (?) one summer when we were out traveling to visit relatives. It was back when collecting green stamps was popular. Circa late 60s/early 70s. Wish I could remember more but I was barely a teen and didn't understand the importance back then.
@@randomhodgepodge8902
Oh my yes. The green stamps. They were saved up all year and used to buy Christmas gifts. Wow I haven’t thought of them in years.
Boy do I ever remember the "oil embargo". My parents were so upset over the price of coffee. I think a pack of smokes was 67 cents then. My dad used to give me the money to run in and get him a pack. And then they started needing a permission slip and then no more kids running in for them. I remember they turned the thermostat down in the schools (I was in the senior high) and we had to wear our winter coats all day. The following year cowl necks and vests and turtle necks were in as well as knee high boots. Sweaters that were long and went to your knees were the in thing. In reality, styles were made to keep you warm! Everyone wore mittens and scarves and hats. And the fuzzy hats with big fuzzy balls on the end of the strings.
I just did a Kroger run for a few things, I wanted a back up worcestershire for my pantry. Lea & Perrins was huge and $6.99, Kroger brand was half the size and $1.69. I decided to give the Kroger brand a shot. It's probably from the same factory anyway.
Hi. New to watching you. Now I'm hooked on watching all you do. Thanks so much. I'm in Missouri and we too are seeing prices out of control. Keep up the great work.❤❤❤
Thank you. Glad you enjoy
A box of cereal doesn't last a week. Usually only get about 5 bowls out of gv cereal and Aldi's.
I don't buy candy very often, but the other day I did pick up a regular size package of Reese's peanut butter cups at the grocery store checkout. Those cups are so small! For the price, I will buy the Aldi peanut butter cups whenever I want a candy like that. They taste better and are probably a much better value overall.
Also bio engineered ingredients in Reese's peanut butter cups.
Also the size of a Hershey kiss is tiny now
I buy Hershy Minis and dip them into peanut butter for a faux-Reese's that I crave every now and then.🍫 Keep cool & safe everyone!🕊
I am happy to know I ain’t crazy. Everything getting smaller and yet the prices are getting larger 😮
Thank for sharing
In Canada here. We noticed can tuna and can flake ham has way less, still same grams so they obviously are putting more water.
I help change tags at my harris teeter store in NC and have since 2023. When i started, a 6 count egg was like 79 or 89 cents. Theyve gone up and down. They are now 1.39 after being 1.29 last week. Other eggs going up 50 cents from the old price. It's crazy.
I find this video helpful because shrinkflation is sneaky and deceptive. Plus, it is a fact and not speculation… guessing if and when prices might go up is too speculative for me. Keep these videos coming!
i stopped buying it
Eggs at Aldi today, were $2.67. I don’t even know anymore. I spent 198 bucks and bought what? Frustrated
Eggs at Aldi were $2.55 dozen today. So sad!!
Good evening sir! Thank-you for your reports ❤❤ I feel like you and Jess are family, it good to see you, makes me smile. 😊
There was a list released today of potential store closures here in Southern California from the Kroger/Vons merger...Easily more than 200 stores are on the list, with 3 within shopping distance of my home (Long Beach, San Pedro & Carson)...If there aren't "plans" to close any stores, why has there been a list full of stores released already?🤔😥😫😠😱
Breyer’s ice cream used to be a half gallon container! No longer 😢
I don’t think they’ll be able to even keep cereal boxes upright if they make them any skinnier. Ice cream went from 64 oz. to 48 oz. a while ago. Velvet ice cream held out, but now even they are 48 oz.
remember when it used to be half gallon size?
Now they are switching from boxes to stand-up bags.
Just went to Publix ..all the refrigerator cases are down and they have them all covered up. Every refrigerator case was down in the whole store and they were in multiple areas.
Prices at Walmart here in Canada are high , and the produce is horrible,, I’ve taken back gala apples that taste like chemicals, rotten watermelon, bitter sugar snap peas,
Ya totally agree. ESP true at food basics
Bread , coffee , chips , cereal, raisin , cookies , this is crazy and why people need to buy a small freezer and get a food saver and bags and buy in bulk and repackage them chicken ,beef , hot dogs bologna when Kroger have them 10 for 10.00 throw it in the freezer make package the size for a couple of pieces for how many people in the family to make a meal . Pork chops steak you can cut the steak in half when you are fixing a meal like green beans and rolls and potatoes or corn or broccoli and cheese or Mac and cheese what ever you like to go with a meal stretch each meal and plan every meal I'm glad i live by myself and don't have to go to the grocery store but once a month because i thought about things over 4 years ago .
Good afternoon everybody ☺️
Coffee pods are now 10 packs instead of 12 . There are still 12s available so keep eyes open.
Good afternoon
You,too
Peanut butter containers are shrinking.
I was at Dollar Tree recently, and I picked up the last of the 11 oz Caramel Lattes for a friend. Now, they're only 8 ozs. ☕️ Sacramento, California USA 🇺🇸
Ice cream boxes have indented bottoms. pretty sure they can vary the depth of the box while still having the container appear as it did before.
Keep up the good work Danno.
Central North Carolina: Aldi’s breakfast bars are a lot shorter. It now takes 2 to feed my toddler a snack. ( I only use them as emergency food in the car)
I do most of my shopping at trader Joe's because I don't have to deal with the nonsense in this video and trader Joe's crewmembers treat me like an honored guest.
That's a part of the price. They are not any better when it comes to quality and prices. Glorified Aldi. That's about it.
I always buy the Trader Joe’s windmill cookies. The last time I did , it looked like they forgot to fill up the container.
i always buy the cheap peppermint starlight mints for car snacks, they were 16 oz then 12 oz,then 10 oz,so yesterday 9 oz,i did not buy any becuase i got*!?'": and said to myself, they can kiss that $ goodbye,i will just drink water in the car,i m a chub chub so candy mints i can make it without them
I used GV canned mixed vegetables to make a crockpot of vegetable soup today. I used to use 3 cans total to make the soup. Today I had to use 5 cans to get the same amount of vegetables in the soup. There was so much water in the newer cans. I had one can that was about 9 months old and it was full. I learned my lesson. I will be shaking those cans from now on. Good luck to everyone.
Newer to this channel. Great info. Thanks
We buy very few items now at Walmart....We shop the BOGO and sales at Publix & Winn-Dixie.
Rana brand Italian inspired indvidual dinners (in the fridge section) like chicken carbonana went from 16 ounces to 12 ounces a few months ago. A 25% drop!
There’s NO way My Husband would be happy having a 12 oz “dinner”!
I think Breyer's used to be a half gallon. Tiny now and $5 last I saw at Food Lion
Sending prayers of healing for your ankle Danno
Great info Danno 👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Yesterday in Publix the 11oz Dunkin coffee was 6.99. Dollar General has a 7oz bag for 6.95. Yoh have to be so mindful of size not just price
The suddenly salad pasta salads are half the size they use to be!! 🤬🤬😡😡
I noticed that several years ago. As a result, I have only bought them when I was willing to pay the sale price.

NOoo
Why would anyone buy it to begin with? It's a small box with very little pasta and chemicals added. Absolutely nothing else.
@@janedowasjanedow,some people do. But I found it is just as easy to start from scratch.
Meijers sent me 4 coupons of 5.00 off for the next 4 weeks if you buy at least 25.00 on your grocery bill.
This is a great deal! Good for you.
@@palady1486 Thank you!
I use to get chocolate covered pretzels at King Soopers. A while back I threw a bag in my cart and checked out. I was looking over my receipt and couldn't believe my eyes, they were $6.50 a bag use to be about $3.00. if that wasn't shocking enough there were noticeably a lot less in the bag. Holy Cow!
Good Afternoon!❤ Danno and Jess
Howdy!
More than food is shrinking in my life, lol 😁👍🇺🇸👋!!
Thanks to one of my brother-in-law's giving us a theater gift card, two of our kids and I just got to go see the Despicable Me 4 movie 😊
I saw it with my grandchildren this weekend.
Great video.
Yes! I ordered some powdered drink mix, great value brand, which used to come in a 6 pack. Some were 6 packets but the newer expiration dated ones were a 5 pack. Same price.
Remember when the boxes of hot chocolate were TEN packs for a buck?
Poor DANNO! I hope your ankle feels better soon!🙏❤
Thanks Danno for all your hard work.
Always check your price per ounce. They can't shrink or mess with that.
Wages don't go up, but cost of living has
😢
Watch the cinnamon rolls in the stores in refrigerated area.Mine had a broken seal inside on the icing .This icing ran down the rolls and the icing was black . Of course it was not baked. I won't be buying these anywhere anymore . Just please watch everything . Also ground beef seemed to be more liquid than grease after cooked. God bless all thank you Danno for all you do.

Txs for sharing that info
Also,Watch the Premade Potato Salad!
As we Were Finishing a tub of it up,
Realized the bottom of the container Was Cracked! 🤢
@@dawncrossland3028 🤮🤮🤮
Buy more expensive (on sale) ground beef. Looks like there is water in it. I make cinnamon rolls almost every week. The old way with cream cheese icing. After looking at those tubes of whatever they are in stores, it's cheaper to make a dozen rolls even with current prices.

Hint: the NACHO 😂 DIP homestyle.
If you get the nacho cheese 🧀 dip with the fries 🍟, eat the fries. SAVE THE DIPS FOR LATER.
Ask for the free mild sauce packets
Do this 2 to 3 days in a row. Go to Dollar Tree 🌳 and buy a bag of Mexican restaurant style chips. You will have 2 to 3 cheese dips, for the chips, and some spicy sauce as well. Make it a get together ❤️ and enjoy!

Most of the shrinkage on these products increases the price by 20 -30% automatically. Some of the packages are the same size but the containers have cut outs and beverages have noticably less in them. Add the price increases and the shrinkage it is closing in on 150% on a LOT of items.
I appreciate all the leg work you do. There is a lot of shrinkflation.
I think Breyers last year was 1.75 qt and now it’s 1.5qt container
Turn your ice cream over and look at the bottom of the package and they have shrunk how much ice cream is in the carton. The front looks the same but there is definitely less ice cream in there.
Breyers ice cream doesn't freeze solid anymore either.
Your right Dano not for family 3 boxes of ceral
Morning all Philadelphia brand pretzels at DT went from 13 to 11 oz. I still buy them because they are really good and more pretzels than the Snyder at DT.
Prices at Walmart Havasu AZ are sure going up.
Ice Cream carton has a pushed up bottom, package looks same size, but has smaller volume now.
Not much going on at Krogers but Meijer I had lots good buys
Ty love ❤️ your channel
Nature valley granola were on sale at Kroger. I believe this week is when it's over. This week Dunkin donuts coffee is $5.99 per bag, limit 5. That's the best price I've seen in a while. Not too many sales this week, but some clearance and specials here and there.
Just came back from Costco. Looked at english muffins and I immediately thought they looked smaller than normal. My husband agreed. Where does it end?
Great value bread has shrunk. Aldis have bigger slices
Thank you Danno ❤️✝️
Where i live ive noticed a brand of milk drink has shrunk in size (from what im told it used to be 600ml, then it went down to 571ml, then down to 400ml, and recently it went down to 330ml, and i am certain the price simultaneously went up)
This economy is manageable I make all my meals at home make my own homemade dressings everything from scratch
About coffee, we'll have to put you in rehab
😅
Good afternoon ya'll, I only shop sales,if it's not on ssle they can keep it,I make all our sweets, give those companies time and they will bankrupt themselves. ❤
Shrinkflation and price has stopped me from purchasing certain items. All for good I suppose. I do like a bag of cookies or potatoe chips but now just occasionally. Goes back to my childhood. Food was a luxury!
i went to wally world a few days ago and was shocked i went to buy a few bras and OMG for a ok brand one it was 18-20 bucks for a name brand they were 20-24 bucks each get them while you can or your going to be all naturally lol
Never thought about Buying bras @ Wal-Mart?!?
Honestly,Compared…that is cheap
@@dawncrossland3028 you are correct! It is all stores that is raising prices, not just Walmart. You still have to compare prices which is what I have always done not just the past year or so.
Yes ice cream is going up
I like great value cereal the honey oats taste better than honey nut cheerios lots of different kinds really good tasting
I went to my local HEB to buy extra virgin oil oil in the tin can. It use to be 32oz for $9.99. It has now shrunk to 24oz for $16. I wanted to cry😢.
About 2 1/2 years back, the first item I noticed that shrinkflated was a little bottle of Gravy Master. It went from 2.5 ounces to 2 ounces and up by 50 cents. May be a silly little item, but I started paying attention then. If that could shrink and go up in price so quickly, I knew more was to come.
Sugar from 5 lbs to 4 lbs - Alabama
sugar has been 4 lbs for YEARS...
I've always bought the Safeway brand toilet paper as it was the best deal: 30 rolls of 425 sheets per roll for $19.99. I just noticed today the rolls now have only 380 sheets per roll and it's a dollar more. ☹️

Los Angeles local ABC news reports selling off 50 stores in soouthern CA if merger goes thru with Kroger & Albertsons.
My family enjoys Nabsico original Wheat Thins & Triscuit. Not too long ago the packaging was changed making it longer at first to find that box. Typically each family person has their own box, snip off the top inner lining, use a bag clip & store in box, pour some into a bowl and we don't remove pkg from the box. Well I was shocked when just recently I pulled out the pkg before opening to see in the smaller box now it was half air & half product 😮
Same in Arizona, the report this morning was 111 stores around our state. Two are those we shop at often.
I bought a can of Chock Full O' Nuts coffee the other day and when I opened it, it was barely above half way full. Two months ago, my Sister and Nephew were eating a vanilla zinger. My Sister showed me a fully wrapped zinger and asked me if I notice anything wrong with it. I quickly noticed how small it is. I asked "that's now the size of a zinger?" She nodded and said "it's called shrinkflation. You pay more for less."

Agreed Americans are used to having 100 different choices for everything. It is part of the reason we pay more for everything because we will.
Could never understand it. I like variety and like having choices, but I also like quality. A small reminder that if something smells like Bavarian cream, there is no actual Bavarian cream in it. Chemicals give the smell and taste. Personally, my life is short enough already dealing with a chemical lab instead of food.
