I think the issue with FPR this season is that Violet doesn't really have someone to contrast with her energy. She's funny when paired with someone like Bob or Monet or Trixie on the pit stop, but someone like Gottmik is both too similar to Violet in fashion sense and doesn't have a strong enough personality to stand on its own against her. So Violet just dominates the room with her criticism. Even Raja and Raven, while both being fashion queens, serve quite different in energy on FPR. Raja is generally more laid back and motherly and Raven is more crisp and to the point.

Vanna White announcing the queens in her “Wheel of Fortune Announcer Voice” was probably my favorite part of this episode. That and Raja’s reaction to her.
The thing that killed me about Violet booting Raja was when she dragged Raja's shoes as being "old man." How did Violet not know that the shoes were literally meant to be old man - an 18th century KING. She should have known better, as a fashion queen, that Raja's look was very specific to a certain era of fashion history.

Yvie is just outclassed by this field. I don’t mean it as rude as it sounds. I just think that Yvie was one of the weaker winners in the first place. I’m f this was a regular season she’d be gone, because she’s been the worst every week.
I feel like the fandom turned on violet as quick as they did because in her previous viral pit stop appearances, she was reviewing looks that were mostly pretty booger, I mean they were regular season design challenge looks, so the harsh critiques still still felt harsh, but were more reasonable. Her applying that same level of ferocity to reviewing a pretty damn polished, well executed line of looks from past winners was a whole different situation.

Violet is one of the top fashion queens and to see her boot genuine high fashion didn't make me mad (becuz it's her opinion so idc) but it was definitely... Odd. Not sure if she actually felt that way or she was trying to keep up with the success of her pit stop episode by being the mean girl. Idk. Violet has a very male view on fashion and beauty. A very traditional and toxic view. She also doesnt actually has a good education on fashion, art or archetecture. It's not only that Raja's look was period accurate. It also very beauteful in it's own way: all the layers and shapes are very interesting. But since it's not seexxyyy, doesnt adhere to the traditional male view, then to violet it's a boot.
That's my only complaint when it comes to Violet. I don't care who she boots or anything, but I sometimes think some of her harsh critiques come from a place of misunderstanding a lot of cultures (the timbs are a part of Black culture, especially the 90s! Hello??) And she absolutely 100% perpetuates fat shaming and body shaming.
It's especially sad considering she was almost bodyshamed by Michelle (for giving "boy" during some of her runways), she should know better. It goes both ways.
Two things can coexist: I can be upset that Raja's final look didn't secure her the win all while respecting and accepting that Trinity executed all of her looks extremely well. She deserved the win. Raja being near the top 2 so many times just shows her turn is coming!
TBF, I kinda think both Trinity and Raja failed at their Before and After. Trinity was giving me Supreme Deluxe from Drag Race Spain mixed with a medieval toddler dressed as a harlequin. At least Raja was serving half the joke, but maybe Trinity got a pass cause the judges clearly didn't know who the fvck was Charles the II. I still think Trinity and Raja should be the top two of the week, tho. I didn't live for Jaida's Vana (the dress, the makeup and her hair weren't as good as some of what the other girls brought) and, as much as I love her and she did great, I think her last look wasn't as striking as Raja's. I'm still glad she won, I love her. It's a tough season, I love everyone and everyone is doing great.
Genuinely I'm confused how people keep saying that when Jaida and trinity had 3 very great looks and raja only had 2. I understand Trinity's before and after was kinda scuffed but it was arguably better than rajas
I agree! I think the judges tend to forget what the balls are about! While the queens have two premade looks the balls were originally supposed to be used to show a queens talent at creating a garment from scratch and raja without a doubt had the best garment of the night in my opinion. I understand the judging and while trinity was sickening I would’ve swapped trinity for raja.
The Vivienne was also wearing a dragged up version of Princess Diana’s sapphire & diamond ring. But I think if you weren’t a Diana devotee or too young to remember it was easily missed.
Plus the little “Sloan ranger” scarf and the demure looks on the runway before she moved into her Diana Ross dancing. Lots of Lady Diana Spencer there!
I totally agree. She couldn't beat Jinkx in Snatch game, but she absolutely should have been top two. Her make up alone was incredible. She nailed both characters.

This episode it really is a shame that second look, because the look she made was the best and the Vanna white one, only Jaida's was better. But honestly the judging has been fair, which for a season of high talents like this is impressive work.
Yes! I have no problem with a bit of shade thrown in good fun, but being disrespectful and looking down on other queens because you think your drag is superior, that I'm not okay with. On AS7 the queens all respect each other and I love that.
i think it's not the lack of "drama" more like lack of tension. Some queens are just coasting by because they know they won't eliminated and the judges give more forgiving critiques.
I think there are two types of fashion queens. The first is "model" which is Violet, Naomi, Mik, Aquaria, and Gigi. They cling on to specific fashion trends and make clothes look good. The other is creative visionary queens. These are queens that have a broad view of fashion and create very diverse and interesting looks. Manilla, Raja, Pangina, and Art Arya are a few queens in that category for me. They play with fashion and refuse to stay in the box. They don't just stick to popular silhouettes or designers, they go avant-guard. There is a difference between looking good in clothes and being able to design incredible garments.
So yall saying the "model" queens cant make a good garments just cause one queen dont like one outfit.... Some girls view fashion as clothings to wear, others view it as art to express and sometime the girls dont agree. It's not that big of a deal move on.
My issue with Violet booting Raja was the fact that she, as someone who touts she knows her fashion and fashion HISTORY, she simply said Raja looked like an old man in makeup and 'didn't get it.' As a supposed fashion historian and a fan of Drag Race, she not only missed the fact that Raja was doing the originator of camp when it came to the definition we know it as today, but that Raja was referencing her Marie Antionette look from her original season. The Princess Diana look was extremely accurate to her. This is an iconic look she wore when it was announced she and Prince Charles were getting engaged, with the blue suit, white scarf and everything - it wasn’t just an 80s reference, it was a direct reference. I love it and everyone in the UK adored Diana so I really want people to know that this is an incredibly faithful recreation of a historical moment. All you have to do is watch the engagement day video and you’ll see that Vivs coy expression and mannerisms were uncanny! It’s and extra Hot look Bussyyyy, I’m glad you rated it so high :D I was very disappointed when the pit stop didn’t think there was ANY Diana in there when it’s so obvious to the UK audiences. That’s why the UK guest judge said it was very moving and sentimental to do that.
Princess Diana Ross look references what Diana was wearing announcing engagement to Prince Charles. Immediately recognisable for Brits. It was Princess Diana outfit with Diana Ross hair. Might be lost on international audiances. Love that Viv wants to share her culture (two Brit characters in Snatch Game for example). But I think it's working against her in the competition.
The issue is that (apart from the scarf) the look was already something Diana Ross could wear. I feel that choosing a hair which still reminds (if not for the colour) to Diana Ross worked against her.

Violet clearly only has knowledge of the fashion that she herself likes. Raja has worked DIRECTLY in the fashion industry for YEARS, and that's why she knows so much, as opposed to the model Chachki, who only knows what she wears. Violet's take on "knockoff *insert brand here*", sillhouettes that need belts, "where's the waist" and more only serve to further alienate queens who don't have the budget she and other rugirls have. Her attitude is EXTREMELY elitist, and gatekeeps an artform created BECAUSE of gatekeeping. Tl;dr: Violet is being extremely elitist and acts like the things she herself likes are the end all-be all of fashion.

I think that Monet definitely didn’t have the best looks on the runway, but I had so much fun with her and her looks! She’s no fashion queen, but I really enjoyed watching her sell her outfits on the runway.

I disagree with you about Raja's third look looking disjointed. I feel that the top part was so, so much that she needed a much cleaner bottom part in order not to be "eaten" by the dress. It kinda looked like a flower blooming completely in the top part. That look completely redeemed her from that Olivia Newton John Waters look which was completely off 😂

I think Monèt used the purse also as a nod both to Bob and Queen Liz. If you see the style of the purse Queen Elizabeth uses and the one Monèt uses its similar. So she use it as a purse first thing and a nod to the Queen. And then The Viviene posed a lot with the blue “saffire” ring which is Diana’s engagement ring which is really famous in The UK.

love violet and mik DOWN but i also had some critiques. when the show had raja and raven as hosts, they understood some of the cultural garments. this is a season with only 3 white queens. i just thought violet + mik would understand the references (especially the black references) since they are fashion queens. i was a lil disappointed ngl.

Thank you for giving Trinity the credit she deserves. I get that everyone wanted Raja to win, but imo Trinity 100% deserved that win. Rajas final look was incredible but if you miss the mark on the second look that badly you don't get to win imo. I'm sure Raja will get her win eventually, we're only three episodes in after all and she's been slaying. As for Violet and FPR.... I 100% disagree with booting Raja, but I often disagree with FPR lol... people are seriously over dramatic. I'm glad the queens are just joking around with it lol
I think Violet is entitled to her own opinion and she even admitted she didn’t fully understand/get that fashion but I also see where audience is coming from. Tbh I think they shouldn’t have had both Violet & Mik judge since they’re both basically the same person with not much thinking outside of the box going on other than skin and corsets. Next time they should get two very different queens to judge that way there was a variety of creative thought and opinions rather than a kiki from two queens that come off like mean girls

I think fashion photo review has veered away from what it was once was which was two queens giving their opinions about whether a runway look was a success or a good look over all. Violet is judging it based on whether it fits her personal aesthetic and if she would ever do or wear. I don’t agree with judging looks that way because those looks weren’t designed with her in mind. It should be is the look good or no even if she wouldn’t personally wear it. Cuz everything doesn’t look good on everyone. Otherwise everyone is getting booted all season by her.
Bussy, thanks for breaking down Trinity’s second look. That is where she and Raja faltered, imo, but your explanation helped me understand why Trinity won. Without exception, both final looks were excellent, but Raja’s appealed to more people. Trinity’s look was flawless. As to Violet’s opinion, it’s that: her opinion & she stands by it. Ever since Violet criticised Willow for wearing a black leopard print dress, her reasons being "either wear the original or not wear it at all", when Willow's whole idea revolved around recreating that black dress in a unique way, I knew Violet treaded on thin ice. People's reaction to her hot takes on Raja's craft doesn't surprise me at all. What's surprises me more though is that it took the fandom SO long to realise how Gottmik's opinions on drag and fashion have literally no substance. I enjoy them both as people and don't wish them any hateful or nasty comments, but like... Humility is a thing.

18:32 I do understand some people saying that the bottom part of Raja's sewn look is kinda basic or "just wrapped fabric" but I actually love it because it's inspired by the longyi, which is something widely worn in Myanmar. She even mentions in her voiceover that she's giving Miss Universe Myanmar and I clearly see the reference. Her dress was the best for me because she, in my opinion, was the only one who truly incorporated the destination she got assigned to. Not sure if the brief for the 3rd look didn't necessarily mean to reference the place but still her effort was appreciated; that alone made me wish she was on top, nevertheless I'm happy for the actual top 2 - kudos to Jaida and Trinity! I just adore Raja's take because she really studies her reference and presents it so beautifully. The thing that makes her drag style so amazing is that it's nuanced - she's not afraid to sacrifice the beauty element in favor of the accuracy of her representation. Maybe she could've executed the bottom part better to improve the cohesion with the top (I don't know I'm not much of an expert in fashion than in history), but it's not a dealbreaker for me. Just as Shea's drag is a love letter to black women, Raja's is a love letter to the [popular] culture she chooses to reference. Auntie came to teach the children!
As someone from Myanmar, I’m really thrilled someone else understood what Raja was representing!!! Violet judging the ball episodes on the regular seasons is really funny because there is usually people who are experienced sewers or people who didn’t execute their looks well. Yes you’re entitled to your own opinion but the way she’s critiquing comes off as elitist. She looks at all of the looks through her drag not really considering the queen’s on the seasons personal aesthetics.
I also think Violet gets all her outfits made for her now - I remember her getting dragged for some of the outfits she had to make on her season. I mean, she did ok with the things she made, but she'd boot herself now. She has unrealistic expectations, or something.

The Ru Paul Charles II look that Trinity did is very clever because Charles II was known as the 'Merry Monarch' because he basically had a harem of mistresses and ruled over a hedonist period of English/British history. BUT if she had done Charles the First, she could have done a whole 'severed head' look since that Charles managed to get his head chopped off.

XD Raja didn't win either of the last two design challenges in her season - She lost the Hair Ball to Yara Sofia and the Money Ball to Manila Luzon haha!
I love Raja, and I think she is everything. I grew up watching her as Sutan on America's Next Top Model, and then I continued to see her artistry shine throughout her career in the following years. But in my opinion, She was not the clear winner of the ball episode. Her first and third outfits were stunning, but I thought her second outfit was a big miss, which is the same sentiment I had with Trinity's outfits. Jaida, on the other hand, crushed all three categories, so I believe Jaida was the deserving winner. From my point of view, Raja is doing very well but is just getting edged out of a victory by her competition, which is probably a little disappointing to her loving fans.
I agree. Jaida absolutely served in her 3 looks, whereas trinity and raja both didnt have that good second looks, so I would have been fine with either of them being in the top. HOT TAKE: I thought rupaul took this opportunity to make sure trinity got her badge. Whoever keeps getting in the top two will be rupauls picks for the finale.

In my opinion, Violet is entitled to her completely wrong opinion, but the reason I personally don't like her and Gottmik on fashion photo ruview, is because they both represent a similar, narrow view on fashion, their opinions should be more dynamic, so that it's more entertaining. Trinity isnt my favourite queen, but I will say this about her, Im glad she was on season 9. I think she really did discover her own sense of drag and embraced the camp and hilarity she can bring, and absolutely brings to the runway when needed.
This fandom flipped on Violet real fast. If Violet was nicer, there would probably be a part of the fandom claiming she's "gone soft". Not really defending her critiques, but it's interesting once someone says something unpopular they're the enemy of the people. Like Bussy said, there are real problems in the world. And that's exactly what I decided to do, half way through an episode of FPR, I shut it off. I have never done that, I've been a loyal viewer from day one, it's one of my favorite shows. But even though Violet is stunning and gorgeous, she's always been a major bitch. I never liked her as a person, or persona, or whatever she presents to the world. So I don't have to watch.

I've not ever been a fan of the say nasty things about someone behind their back, but not to their face. It's best to not say nasty things, at all. At least to one's face you can know who to ignore, who is a security risk, etc. I can understand sometimes people just vent, want to feel heard and let it go, but don't want to cause grief for the subject of their venting, but in that case would just be good Judies, not a public forum.
I have a feeling that the queens were given “Game Show Hostess” on their list of looks to bring, and it was changed to “Vanna White Realness” when they got there.
I think it was Vanna White always, because otherwise it'd be a lot of suits. But I think it was 'inspired by', hence whatever Yvie did and Monet's slit in her gown.

I am a huge Violet fan, I adore her. But I am also a huge fan of Raja. They are actually my top 2 favourite queens. The thing I love most about fashion though, is that it's subjective. It's art. Both of these queens are obviously into fashion and I love both of their styles separately. 😍
Raja doesn't have a style, she's diverse and multi-faceted. Violet's style revolves around a narrow waist and she thinks that's the only acceptable silhouette. I don't remember the queen now (might have been Rose) but on that infamous pitstop episode, Violet criticized that queen for not cinching /wearing a corset even though that queen had a 2 piece outfit with the waist area exposed. A corset clearly did not belong on that outfit and even Trixie was like "what?? Just a random exposed corset, for what?". Years ago, she directed a similar criticism to a beautiful Kim Chi look, which was a Korean inspired outfit that had a different silhouette. Now she's saying Raja wasn't cinched /cinched enough as if Raja's look required that. And that she didn't show enough skin. Again, very narrow minded because fashion isn't about showing skin. She criticized the exposed socks because she didn't get the reference and so didn't get that it was intentional. I just don't think that Violet understands or appreciates the diversity of fashion. Aquaria recently also reviewed the looks on a different show and said she liked the look but would have liked if Raja's outfit had brighter colors because that's her (Aquaria's) aesthetic. That's the kind of self awareness needed when you critique a look. Violet doesn't get that cinching in every look is very much a Violet preference and not everyone else's.

Just as you got to Shea’s before and after, Twitter notified me that Shea tweeted about her original before and after idea. Her original idea was Janet Jackson Pollock but apparently production told her she couldn’t do a real person. The gold tooth fairy looks good and could probably have won on a regular season. I feel robbed of what could’ve been with her original idea

I was so disappointed that Raja dropped the ball with her Before & After look. And I agree with Bussy. Shoulda done the head full on John Waters and she might have gotten to the top. Trinity has now established herself as the frontrunner with two consecutive weeks in the top, even if she only has one badge. But right now, everyone who has a badge has one, but she's the only one with two wins. So I'm sure she is getting blocked this next week if she doesn't get another win.

I know I'm a bit late, but The Vivienne was actually referencing what Diana wore in her engagement photos. It's what comes to mind when we think of Princess Di here in the UK because it was plastered all over mugs, plates and memorabilia and everyone's grandma had at least one of these lol
I think the biggest issue with Violet is that she doesn’t like anything she can’t imagine herself wearing. Also maybe violet and gottmik aren’t the best pairing as they need someone funny/likeable to counter the c*untiness.
Only thing I would point out is that Raja's gold look referenced the gold pagodas of Myanmar and the type of skirt she's wearing is in line with the South East Asian reference she was making. I get that it's not culturally in line with western standards of fashion, but for someone watching from this side of the world it made perfect sense and was beautiful to see.

Violet knows fashion in a way, but her tastes are very very narrow. If it’s not her style, she doesn’t understand it. Roger has a broad knowledge and understanding of fashion that Violet does not.

Shea and Raja O'Hara were my favorite duo for FPR because they were so educated on garment construction and references. They had a fun vibe and I looked forward to their outfits each week. The only thing I would critique is that they gave passes to Jujubee that weren't fair comparatively. I know she's beloved, but still. However, they knew how to critique and boot but still be pleasant about it. They were great.

I think the issue with FPR this season is that Violet doesn't really have someone to contrast with her energy. She's funny when paired with someone like Bob or Monet or Trixie on the pit stop, but someone like Gottmik is both too similar to Violet in fashion sense and doesn't have a strong enough personality to stand on its own against her. So Violet just dominates the room with her criticism.
Even Raja and Raven, while both being fashion queens, serve quite different in energy on FPR. Raja is generally more laid back and motherly and Raven is more crisp and to the point.

That's my only complaint when it comes to Violet. I don't care who she boots or anything, but I sometimes think some of her harsh critiques come from a place of misunderstanding a lot of cultures (the timbs are a part of Black culture, especially the 90s! Hello??) And she absolutely 100% perpetuates fat shaming and body shaming.

TBF, I kinda think both Trinity and Raja failed at their Before and After. Trinity was giving me Supreme Deluxe from Drag Race Spain mixed with a medieval toddler dressed as a harlequin. At least Raja was serving half the joke, but maybe Trinity got a pass cause the judges clearly didn't know who the fvck was Charles the II.
I still think Trinity and Raja should be the top two of the week, tho.
I didn't live for Jaida's Vana (the dress, the makeup and her hair weren't as good as some of what the other girls brought) and, as much as I love her and she did great, I think her last look wasn't as striking as Raja's. I'm still glad she won, I love her.

I agree! I think the judges tend to forget what the balls are about! While the queens have two premade looks the balls were originally supposed to be used to show a queens talent at creating a garment from scratch and raja without a doubt had the best garment of the night in my opinion. I understand the judging and while trinity was sickening I would’ve swapped trinity for raja.

This episode it really is a shame that second look, because the look she made was the best and the Vanna white one, only Jaida's was better. But honestly the judging has been fair, which for a season of high talents like this is impressive work.
The thing about the Violet-Gottmik combo is that they share the same idea of what "fashion" should be. They belong to that "Drag is more glamor" camp.

i think it's not the lack of "drama" more like lack of tension. Some queens are just coasting by because they know they won't eliminated and the judges give more forgiving critiques.

I think there are two types of fashion queens. The first is "model" which is Violet, Naomi, Mik, Aquaria, and Gigi. They cling on to specific fashion trends and make clothes look good. The other is creative visionary queens. These are queens that have a broad view of fashion and create very diverse and interesting looks. Manilla, Raja, Pangina, and Art Arya are a few queens in that category for me. They play with fashion and refuse to stay in the box. They don't just stick to popular silhouettes or designers, they go avant-guard. There is a difference between looking good in clothes and being able to design incredible garments.

My issue with Violet booting Raja was the fact that she, as someone who touts she knows her fashion and fashion HISTORY, she simply said Raja looked like an old man in makeup and 'didn't get it.' As a supposed fashion historian and a fan of Drag Race, she not only missed the fact that Raja was doing the originator of camp when it came to the definition we know it as today, but that Raja was referencing her Marie Antionette look from her original season. It truly felt like she is being nasty just to be nasty for views.

This is an iconic look she wore when it was announced she and Prince Charles were getting engaged, with the blue suit, white scarf and everything - it wasn’t just an 80s reference, it was a direct reference. I love it and everyone in the UK adored Diana so I really want people to know that this is an incredibly faithful recreation of a historical moment. All you have to do is watch the engagement day video and you’ll see that Vivs coy expression and mannerisms were uncanny! It’s and extra Hot look Bussyyyy, I’m glad you rated it so high :D I was very disappointed when the pit stop didn’t think there was ANY Diana in there when it’s so obvious to the UK audiences. That’s why the UK guest judge said it was very moving and sentimental to do that.
Princess Diana Ross look references what Diana was wearing announcing engagement to Prince Charles. Immediately recognisable for Brits. It was Princess Diana outfit with Diana Ross hair. Might be lost on international audiances. Love that Viv wants to share her culture (two Brit characters in Snatch Game for example). But I think it's working against her in the competition.
The issue is that (apart from the scarf) the look was already something Diana Ross could wear. I feel that choosing a hair which still reminds (if not for the colour) to Diana Ross worked against her.

I disagree with you about Raja's third look looking disjointed. I feel that the top part was so, so much that she needed a much cleaner bottom part in order not to be "eaten" by the dress. It kinda looked like a flower blooming completely in the top part. That look completely redeemed her from that Olivia Newton John Waters look which was completely off 😂

I think Monèt used the purse also as a nod both to Bob and Queen Liz. If you see the style of the purse Queen Elizabeth uses and the one Monèt uses its similar. Thank you for giving Trinity the credit she deserves. I get that everyone wanted Raja to win, but imo Trinity 100% deserved that win. Rajas final look was incredible but if you miss the mark on the second look that badly you don't get to win imo. I'm sure Raja will get her win eventually, we're only three episodes in after all and she's been slaying.
As for Violet and FPR.... I 100% disagree with booting Raja, but I often disagree with FPR lol... people are seriously over dramatic. I'm glad the queens are just joking around with it lol

I think fashion photo review has veered away from what it was once was which was two queens giving their opinions about whether a runway look was a success or a good look over all. Violet is judging it based on whether it fits her personal aesthetic and if she would ever do or wear. I don’t agree with judging looks that way because those looks weren’t designed with her in mind. It should be is the look good or no even if she wouldn’t personally wear it. Cuz everything doesn’t look good on everyone. Otherwise everyone is getting booted all season by her.

Ever since Violet criticised Willow for wearing a black leopard print dress, her reasons being "either wear the original or not wear it at all", when Willow's whole idea revolved around recreating that black dress in a unique way, I knew Violet treaded on thin ice. People's reaction to her hot takes on Raja's craft doesn't surprise me at all.
What's surprises me more though is that it took the fandom SO long to realise how Gottmik's opinions on drag and fashion have literally no substance.

18:32 I do understand some people saying that the bottom part of Raja's sewn look is kinda basic or "just wrapped fabric" but I actually love it because it's inspired by the longyi, which is something widely worn in Myanmar. She even mentions in her voiceover that she's giving Miss Universe Myanmar and I clearly see the reference. Her dress was the best for me because she, in my opinion, was the only one who truly incorporated the destination she got assigned to. Not sure if the brief for the 3rd look didn't necessarily mean to reference the place but still her effort was appreciated; that alone made me wish she was on top, nevertheless I'm happy for the actual top 2 - kudos to Jaida and Trinity!
I just adore Raja's take because she really studies her reference and presents it so beautifully. The thing that makes her drag style so amazing is that it's nuanced - she's not afraid to sacrifice the beauty element in favor of the accuracy of her representation. Maybe she could've executed the bottom part better to improve the cohesion with the top (I don't know I'm not much of an expert in fashion than in history), but it's not a dealbreaker for me.
Just as Shea's drag is a love letter to black women, Raja's is a love letter to the [popular] culture she chooses to reference. Auntie came to teach the children!

Violet judging the ball episodes on the regular seasons is really funny because there is usually people who are experienced sewers or people who didn’t execute their looks well. Yes you’re entitled to your own opinion but the way she’s critiquing comes off as elitist. I love Raja, and I think she is everything. I grew up watching her as Sutan on America's Next Top Model, and then I continued to see her artistry shine throughout her career in the following years. But in my opinion, She was not the clear winner of the ball episode. Her first and third outfits were stunning, but I thought her second outfit was a big miss, which is the same sentiment I had with Trinity's outfits. Jaida, on the other hand, crushed all three categories, so I believe Jaida was the deserving winner. From my point of view, Raja is doing very well but is just getting edged out of a victory by her competition, which is probably a little disappointing to her loving fans.

And that's exactly what I decided to do, half way through an episode of FPR, I shut it off. I have never done that, I've been a loyal viewer from day one, it's one of my favorite shows. I am a huge Violet fan, I adore her. But I am also a huge fan of Raja. They are actually my top 2 favourite queens. The thing I love most about fashion though, is that it's subjective. It's art. Both of these queens are obviously into fashion and I love both of their styles separately. 😍

Raja doesn't have a style, she's diverse and multi-faceted. Violet's style revolves around a narrow waist and she thinks that's the only acceptable silhouette. I don't remember the queen now (might have been Rose) but on that infamous pitstop episode, Violet criticized that queen for not cinching /wearing a corset even though that queen had a 2 piece outfit with the waist area exposed. A corset clearly did not belong on that outfit and even Trixie was like "what?? Just a random exposed corset, for what?". Years ago, she directed a similar criticism to a beautiful Kim Chi look, which was a Korean inspired outfit that had a different silhouette. Now she's saying Raja wasn't cinched /cinched enough as if Raja's look required that. And that she didn't show enough skin. Again, very narrow minded because fashion isn't about showing skin. She criticized the exposed socks because she didn't get the reference and so didn't get that it was intentional. I just don't think that Violet understands or appreciates the diversity of fashion. Aquaria recently also reviewed the looks on a different show and said she liked the look but would have liked if Raja's outfit had brighter colors because that's her (Aquaria's) aesthetic. That's the kind of self awareness needed when you critique a look. Violet doesn't get that cinching in every look is very much a Violet preference and not everyone else's.

I know I'm a bit late, but The Vivienne was actually referencing what Diana wore in her engagement photos. It's what comes to mind when we think of Princess Di here in the UK because it was plastered all over mugs, plates and memorabilia and everyone's grandma had at least one of these lol
I think the biggest issue with Violet is that she doesn’t like anything she can’t imagine herself wearing. Also maybe violet and gottmik aren’t the best pairing as they need someone funny/likeable to counter the c*untiness.
Only thing I would point out is that Raja's gold look referenced the gold pagodas of Myanmar and the type of skirt she's wearing is in line with the South East Asian reference she was making. I get that it's not culturally in line with western standards of fashion, but for someone watching from this side of the world it made perfect sense and was beautiful to see.

Violet knows fashion in a way, but her tastes are very very narrow. If it’s not her style, she doesn’t understand it. Roger has a broad knowledge and understanding of fashion that Violet does not.
I blame the fans who said they loved Violet in her Pit Stop episodes when in fact she was only ever funny because of the hosts. On her own and when paired with someone like Got Mik, she's unfunny and just....unbearable.

Bussy, you said exactly what I feel about Raja's look. I'm happy for all the love she's getting, but her gold look doesn't blow me away personally because the bottom half is disconnected from that incredible top half.
Violets attitude is just really nasty and elitist its almost feels like she has something against raja as a queen. Giving mean girl energy with zero charm.

I will say for Vivianne, no-one in the UK has any idea who Vanna White is. I only know her cause I played the Wheel of Fortune Android game once and she was heavily featured. We had our own Wheel of Fortune legend named Jenny Powell.
Yeah, this was always going to be a risk with Vivienne, being the only Brit in the group. She won’t know all the American references the other contestants know, and they won’t know all the British references.

Shea and Raja O'Hara were my favorite duo for FPR because they were so educated on garment construction and references. They had a fun vibe and I looked forward to their outfits each week. The only thing I would critique is that they gave passes to Jujubee that weren't fair comparatively. I know she's beloved, but still. However, they knew how to critique and boot but still be pleasant about it. They were great.
