“It is said that one should keep one's allies within view, and one's enemies within reach.
A valid statement. One must be able to read an ally's strengths, so as to determine how to best use them. One must similarly be able to read his enemy's weaknesses, so as to determine how to best defeat him.
But what of friends?
There is no accepted answer, perhaps true friendship is so exceedingly rare. But I had formulated my own.
A friend need not be kept within sight or within reach. A friend must be allowed the freedom to find and follow his own path. If one is fortunate, those paths will for a time join. But if paths separate, it is comforting to know that a friend still graces the universe with his skills, and his viewpoint, and his present. For if one is remembered by a friend, one is never truly gone.”

I think Thrawn would be one of the easiest characters to switch to a medieval setting with changing almost anything about him, because you wouldn’t need to translate the force or anything like that to keep him intimidating. Thrawn’s intimidating character comes solely from his tactical genius and unique (for his world) perspective on war. He could be intimidating in any setting.
The only character that might adapt better is Tarkin.
I put Thrawn into my D&D setting
The fact that Thrawn was always calm and composed was something that added to his overall level of intimidation
He has a similar character build to Stannis Baratheon in the GoT books, and that’s what I love about both of them. They are both calculated people that not only seize opportunities but generate them as well
What about as an anime girl?
You know how respected a character is when you go into a bardcore/medieval video of said character's theme song and you barely see any medieval pun.
They simply quote him. No alterations, no changes, no jokes. Just pure respect.
He only demands the respect he gives. This is what a good leader strives for
And also because a hell of a lot of Thrawn's quotes would work just as well for a Medieval Lord as they do for a sci fi Admiral
“There are things in the universe that are simply and purely evil. A warrior does not seek to understand them, or compromise with them. He seeks only to obliterate them.”

The lie I helped spun was undone, and me unraveled forthwith. Ah fate, oh Force. You were not a power only but ironic and cruel destiny itself. Of all the arts I so diligently studied, to think it would be poetry that would be my undoing. I rightly pay for the prideful cataract that blinded me to the dagger's blow. Weep not for me, my good fellow Palleon. Yes, death's irony be swift and terrible...but 'twas executed so artfully..."

A great tactician creates plans. A good tactician recognizes the soundness of a plan presented on him. A fair tactician must see the plan succeed before offering approval.
Those with no tactical ability at all may never understand or accept it. Nor will such people understand or accept the tactician. To those without that ability, those who posses it are a mystery.
And when a mind is too deficient in understanding, the resulting gap is often filled with with resentment.
War is a primarily a game of skill. It is a Contest of mind matched against mind, tactics matched against tactics. But there is also an element of chance that is more suited to games of cards or dice. A wise tactician studies those games, as well, and learns from them.
The first lesson of card games is that the cards cannot be played in random order. Only when laid down properly can victory be achieved.
There is no guaranteed winning hand.
