Standard to Admin Account in MacOS (Update)

  • The full process that how to Create New User Account in Mac and convert your standard account to Admin account.
    1. Restart your system.
    2. Press and hold command + S keys.
    3. type- mount -uw /
    4. type- rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    5. then type- reboot
    make sure to put spaces correctly in commands
    Your Mac will restart and display the Welcome to Mac screen. Then follow the step-by-step guide to create your new admin user account.

    hey, this is a great video, but it does not work. the recent ios catalina makes the system read-only, so mount -uw / and these commands won’t work. to delete the .applesetupdone file, you need an admin password and username. is there any other way you can figure this out? you’re a great explainer.

    I did exactly what you said sir but while delete that .AppleSetupDone file, its asking for the admin username and passward. Please help me out

    After following these instructions also I am getting my old Admin screen and not the new Admin set up screen. How to go about it now. i have a High Sierra on my Mac.

    Sadly doesn't work for standard user, you need administrator account

    Thanks for the guide. Unfortunately, I could not locate the MacOs on the system after following through. Even when I used command + S while booting, I still couldn't do it. All I was getting was file not found. Nevertheless thank you. Perhaps anyone seeing this comment could assist me in the future.
