As a mother and grandmother coming from the same neighborhoods in chaos . My parents moved us and no matter where we went it was the same thing . The only thing that saved me was that I got married at 16 and was focused to get out. My husband was focused to do better . He unfortunately got shot in the head , lost his sight . He still had to watch his back ,all the time . How ? Anyways long story short . He's now paralyzed and blind. He had so much talent and was so intelligent , but he stayed and chose who to be around . As for me , he almost killed me . I was ready to die and he knew it . He left , I was pregnant . I ended up in the hospital, I literally couldn't leave my house. After a few years is when he got shot , but not even like that did he slow down. I had to go pull him out of a crack house in Compton. It was bad , but I got him out and got him to a doctor. He had checked himself out of ICU. Anyways, I don't know why I telling you this . I guess I haven't talked about it . Point is , the only way to save your life and your children is to change your mindset . That's the most difficult thing to do , because it's so natural to be what you know. You fight with it everyday , everyday. The only way out is you , get out . Get around people living better lives and learn from them . Always find better and never go back even if it gets better. Your mindset is the problem . It's so bad , you can't listen to certain music, because your back there again. It has to change or your kids are going to be living the same life .
