    These both look great James looks Great if you ever want to do James’ lining I recommend using some painters tape around the line and that can make it easier while painting

  • @SaltyVan
    @SaltyVan Před 2 lety +9

    For James’ lining, I would use either a thin marker pen or use pinstripes (masking up the model and painting the exposed lines [trust me it works])

    Looks okay, this seems more like a touch up than a full on restoration though. Still good job despite limited resources

    • @StoneTankEngine
      @StoneTankEngine  Před 3 lety +3

      very much true, they’re not spot on per say and to be fair resources were limited and it was my first time doing it so i find it ok for a first but i will for sure try to make it better

  • @AC34D
    @AC34D Před 3 lety +3

    Those look pretty good. Maybe try an ultra fin point sharpie for James’ lining but go gently since the wood’s already worn.

  • @nateswoodentrainstudios3806

    One time I tried doing something like this with my 2013 Wooden Thomas and I messed it up but I still enjoy playing with my 2013 Wooden Thomas though. I think I used the wrong paint for it. Great video by the way I never saw anyone do this before. 😃👍

    Nice restoration video. I understand how hard it can be to do lining on the engines. And for a first attempt you did miles better then when I stored my engines.

    Great job! James looks much better than he did and I think you did something good by fixing this James, people (after watching this amazing video) won’t be afraid to customize there 92 - 96 items because in the end it’ll look good, anyways great job on the custom again!

      Thanks! Yea i would’ve done an overcoat if i knew how to really fix up the item but it was my first time doing a "restoration" of sorts so I’ll def try on my next one (whenever that’ll happen lol)

  • @Jontefett
    @Jontefett Před 3 lety +1

    I don’t want to be that guy but just a tip! I how recommend you sand the wooden railway engines and then paint the item. You can use stencils to add the pin stripes, numbers, and other stuff after.
