    I greatly appreciate your narration, France. You seem to tell us just what I want to know, never too much and never too little. That ability is awesome! Thank you for sharing your self.

    Beautiful! I learn so much from watching your videos, I can't thank you enough. Every time I watch one of your videos one word keeps popping up in my mind that I'd use to describe your creative process and that is: fearless. Watching your videos is a joy!

    Another beautiful masterpiece! I get so excited every time I see you've posted a new video. I watch them over and over. I have learned different techniques and ways of incorporating all kinds of things into my own creations and would like to thank you for that! I love your style and colors you choose and they layouts you create. I only hope to be as good as you are one day. Again, thank you so much for sharing. ~~ Dana

    Lovely spread!!! I love the "dirty"ness you do. I too don't like things completely clean looking. I love the slightly grungy look. And you show how magnificent it all comes together. I appreciate you doing your JoM's immensely. I learn so much every week!

    Although I am not a journaler myself, I can only admire this beautiful page. The colors, the embellishments all fit together perfectly to honor the picture of your Grandmother and her family. This spread is just magnificent. I can't help but feel a tinge of regret that this page is in a book rather than displayed on say, a canvas, but that (I think) is because I do not understand the art journal. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful process. Julie

    Another great spread. 10 children? Goodness gracious me!!
    Particularly like the doily & metal pieces on right side page. Going to have a break now as don't want to just watch for sake of watching (if that makes sense). Tfs. C :)

    So beautiful! It is so wonderful that you included your father's family on your page. I really enjoyed listing to you explain what you were doing and your new appreciation of glitter. I kinda have a love hate relationship with glitter. I love the effect and hate the mess. LOL Thanks again for your lovely video.

      Kimmer // Krazy Artsy & Crafty Creations it's 8 by 5 inch when closed, just like a Moleskine sketchbook ;)

  • @greetingsfromchilliwack5702

    Hi France! How do you work on the next blank page with all the beads, metal embellishments and stuff you've glued on? Would it not be too bumpy to lay down a stencil with paste for example? I recall seeing you glue some pages together for more support in a lined book. Thank you!

    • @francepapillon
      @francepapillon  Před 8 lety

      +Julie Bishop Hi Julie! I only glue pages together in real books as the paper is too thin to work with mediums otherwise. This journal is handmade using heavy watercolor paper, no gluing there ;) And concerning the bumps created by the texture: that will make working on the next page even more interesting as you give up part of the control you would have on a flat surface. Just going with the flow :) x

      If you follow the link to my website in the description of the video, you'll see an 'Inspiration' tab in the menu. You'll find my rusting recipe under the free tutorials of that tab :)

  • @greetingsfromchilliwack5702

    Hi France, I have been trying to rust some paper at home with your blog recipe and not having much luck. Maybe it's the paper I'm using, it's a heavy Kozo paper and a rusted steel pan. It's picking up very little rust. I am using a vinegar solution with a little water in a spray bottle. I wonder if it's the steel pan. It used to be the bottom of a bbq and maybe it's greasy. Not easy to find a piece of rusted steel. Any thoughts would be nice. Thanks!

    • @francepapillon
      @francepapillon  Před 8 lety

      the problem is the rusted metal you're using, because kozo paper works perfectly for rusting. Sometimes the metal looks nicely rusted but doesn't 'contaminate' the paper. I know how hard it is to find some good one! Good luck hunting it down ;) xo

    • @greetingsfromchilliwack5702
      @greetingsfromchilliwack5702 Před 8 lety

      Good news, I found a rusted baking pan that my hubby had stashed away and it works perfectly! It's a little small but that's okay. It was definitely the metal. Thanks so much! Have a super day.

    Love it. Question: Do you ever have a problem with tiny bits such as beads and sugars coming off your work? Like after a period of months, etc.

    • @francepapillon
      @francepapillon  Před 9 lety

      Hi Judith,
      Not in my journals no, even if they get manipulated a lot! same thing for my encaustic pieces, but we're always very careful with those.
      It's another story for mixed media canvases though, even if no one touches them, they tend to loose stuff over time...

      Thank you. Someday I may take the plunge. I have mostly watercolor and colored pencil. No acrylics or sprays. Very limited in my products. I consider myself a very old beginner at almost 60 years. I mostly still have frustrations. I'm sure you know how frustrating watercolor can be. I really love your style and I think it's because of your attitude toward your art and audience. Thank you.

    Hey France, I don't know if you remembered I had asked you about your altered journal in an old book??!! Anyway I never found where you talked about it or gave anything to do with it, so I was just wondering if you could just answer the question for me here.
    Do you tear out pages or just glue a few of them together until your at the end??!! Thank you

    • @francepapillon
      @francepapillon  Před 8 lety

      +Robin Donnelly Hi Robin, that is not waxed paper but tengusho paper. It's a Japanese paper, much like silk paper but without any wax! So it's 100% porous but strong because made of plant fibers. My favorite toy ;)
