  • Last week I talked about how to make your AC unit quieter and this week we go inside the house and soundproof your HVAC system to make it whisper quiet. There are many ways to make an HVAC system quieter, either by soundproofing the vac room or treating the problem in the duct work. With the use of a baffle box for your HVAC and sound deadening material on the duct work, you can easily soundproof your HAVC system DIY!

I put maybe 5 square feet of dynamat on the most crashy/boomy sounding HVAC ducts in my system and my system is literally 75% quieter. I've been thinking about doing this for a long time but seeing your video last week finally pushed me over the edge. WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG?!? haha. Thank you!

Hi! Can you make a video on how to sound proof for a house near to an airport?

Can you also replace the blower motor for a better grade unit , that makes less noise operating. and i also believe there is a switch on the furnace to increase the temperature on the furnace and turn down the speed on the blower motor, so you get hotter air but flowing into the various rooms in your house at a much slower speed

Yes there are definitely some quieter motors than others.

Great idea for lessening noise levels. Would making the vent opening into the room larger help to reduce the noise in the room? Thx

Great idea but It wont make much of a difference if the ductwork is still the same size as before.

when I talked to Dynamat engineer while back, he told me that those mats are made to reduce the vibration without enclosing the metal medium that's vibrating. so maybe add patches little by little?

That would definitely also work, especially when you can only access a small section of your ducting.

You’d think the hvac companies making metal air ducts would come out with a “rubberized” coated version.
