      Also, maybe look at using AWC EC2 z1d server for the recorded run. It's a few dollars per hour for the time if you go through hosting like ready-room. This still lets you set it up locally and do your testing, but give you a monster machine for the production run at a fairly low cost.

      @cassius_eu5970 Před 28 dny +27

      I mean in a real scenario the US carrier group wouldn't even get close enough to fire their missiles. China has quite literally thousands of land-based anti-ship ballistic missiles that outrange anything you could put on a carrier.

    • @Trve_Kvlt
      @Trve_Kvlt Před 28 dny +10

      @@cassius_eu5970 That assumes that the carrier would be by itself, it wouldn't. A typical Carrier Strike Group has 7-9 ships (the composition isn't static, there can be more or less than that). Two or three Arleigh-Burke class DDGs, one or two CGs (like Ticonderoga) one or two SSNs and a supply ship. Assuming a 10 ship CSG, and the most modern version of the ships, the CSH would have upwards of ~400 to 500 air defense missiles, 12-17 CIWS systems, and upwards of 100 to over 200 cruise missiles. None of that to say that China couldn't hit a carrier, but they would have a hard time doing it. The chance of China having all of their anti-ship cruise or ballistic missiles in range of a CSG at all times is slim to none. They may have a lot of missiles, but they have to be in the right place at the right time to matter.

      @Shadowboost Před 28 dny +10

      @@bigbrothersinnerparty297 you are VASTLY overestimating the number of missiles China has that can be brought to bear on a carrier group. • @bigbrothersinnerparty297
      @bigbrothersinnerparty297 Před 28 dny +14

      @@Shadowboost I am definitely not. China tests 100-200 ballistic missiles per year, for a country in rapid armament this indicates an absolutely insane number of missiles in production. DF 26 for example already had 300-400 missiles by US Estimates in 2020, likely much higher by now, and its range is 4000km. US EWAS would hinder communication and especially air to air missile tracking, not initial satellite tracking and autonomous missile control and maneuvering. Also I am certain the Chinese will have some measure of EWAS themselves given the Russian EWAS experience in Ukraine or American lent weapons and also have initial anti-EWAS measures. Also initial targeting is most important since Hypersonic missiles are only slightly maneuverable anyways and a short range launch from the Chinese coast is very likely.

    Cap, all of these videos are super fun to watch. The one thing that gets me every time though is being limited to carrier launch rates. As far as I know, no Navy has a doctrine of starting an attack with a majority of it's planes still on the deck. In a real engagement, the various aircraft would all be launched prior to the attack (maybe some staging for later units, but certainly all air defense squadrons would be up and grouped in 4-ship) and put in place for a coordinated attack.
    Is there a technical reason you don't start aircraft already in the air, and formed up into unified waves? This would enable not only faster sims, but also allow for much easier Time on Target planning since you'd have the entire squadron launching together. You could also start to command squadrons to go to different attack vectors, instead of everyone taking off, and flight in a straight line at the target.

    F-35's in A2A should be sufficient, and much more realistic. Though I could see the US pulling out all of the stops if they thought they needed to sink a carrier and putting F-22's in a strike package as described. One thing I really think though is that out at sea, submarines pose a bigger threat to any carrier group than a mass strike from an opposing carrier group.

  • @DanSetiBello
    @DanSetiBello Před 16 dny

    Regarding your simulations problem, I believe the best and safer approach would split it in 2 parts:
    1. Just the aircrafts and their loads. They will have their fights and the surviving aircraft will head to the expected waypoint in order to launch the anti-ground/ship missiles.
    + this would make it less chance to have buggy aircrafts doing non-sense (like the J-16s in the video) and more room for calculation for the air missiles
    2. You take the remaining aircrafts and their loads, add all the ships and have them firing at the parameters.
    + now the sim will only have to deal with the missiles coming in and the defenses and there will be a lot less aircrafts flying to calculate/handle, making the defense calculation more accurate as well
    -- For the first part of the fight, the ground and sea defenses are just sitting there with a bunch of data in the memory, taking calculation space in the sim but not really adding to the fight until the missiles are very close.
    - The same is true for the F/A-18s that are mostly flying to the destination but not really adding to the initial fight.

    I am surprised by the fact that in these scenarios, you don't use the MALD missile in an offensive role in order to deplete the defender's missile supply, before you start throwing your offensive AS misslies towards the targets. I am not an expert by any means, but it seems to me to be the most sound strategy to overcome the massive amount of Chinese defense missile capability. Maybe that could be a future strategy that would be fruitful for America in this particular scenario.

    @grimreapers Hi Cap.
    Watching this scenario on the Falklands/South America map gave my an idea for potential scenario.
    People say that after the military reductions following the Cold War, the British couldn't perform the Falklands war if it happened today.
    How about you test that?
    My hypothesis is it's 2030. 4 months ago the Argentinian's performed a surprise attack on RAF Mount Pleasant and managed to take control of the island.
    The British response is to retake the Falklands, but the 4 month delay was caused by politicians trying to decide whether it was worth the cost... but now the 'Falklands War II' is about to begin!
    The Argentinians have not been idle in that 4 months!
    The runways are repaired, air defences have been installed, and a secondary airbase is in place at Stanley.
    Their primary air-to-air aircraft are the 24x F-16AM's that were obtained in recent years. Three were lost by Typhoon/SAM's during the surprise invasion, leaving just 21 left.
    However, the economic collapse of Venezuela has resulted in that country selling their F-16's to Argentina, bringing another 13 fighter aircraft into the mix... for a total of 34x F-16's!
    A dozen A-4AR Fightinghawks (Skyhawks) have been taken out of mothballs, given a rushed overhaul to get them activated... and have 1980's AIM 9 Sidewinder for a secondary air-to-air role.
    Argentina also has two EC-21A (Learjet 35) in the ELINT/Electronic Warefare role.
    At Stanley, the Argentinians have 15x IA-63 Pampa III in the ground attack role. These could be used to attack any Royal Navy ships with Mk81/Mk82 bombs.
    For the British, it all comes down to a single aircraft carrier, the Prince of Wales. The Queen Elizabeth is unavailable due to a another fault (highly embarrasing for politicians and the Royal Navy!).
    The Prince of Wales only has 20x F-35B's available.
    The carrier could take 40 aircraft, but a ground offensive requires Chinook, Apache, Merlin and Wildcat helicopters.
    The RAF also has a pair of E7A Wedgetail in the AWACS role, an RC135W Rivet Joint in SIGINT role, and four P-8 Poseidon in the anti-ship role... these are operating out of RAF Ascension with A330MRTT Voyager tankers to keep a 24 hour observation and ASW protection for the British taskforce.
    I'll leave it up to you to decide each countries naval assets for this scenario.
    What I think would make things interesting is how the Argentinians have the home-field advantage, including the fuel to maintain combat air patrols and attack any British aircraft approaching the Falklands.
    However, they are flying early 4th generation fighters.
    On the other hand, the British have limited fighters available, but are stealthy 5th Generation, plus better ISTAR (Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) assets, including satellite coverage.
    Hope you accept this mission... and have fun!!

    41:40 312,000 ft (59 mi/95 km) "in space"... _Technically_ whether you're "in space" or not depends on the definition you're using. The Karman line is at 65 mi/100 km so by that definition you ARE NOT in space. For the USAF space begins at 50 mi/80 km so you ARE in space.

    China would have no doubt sent in an anti-ship bomber wing to sink the US carrier group when they were still 1000 miles away, meaning the only way this would happen would be as part of a preemptive/first strike. China has 10 different air bases in its Eastern Theater, all of which would be in range to participate in this battle, plus a few other air bases in its Central Theater. These have plenty of J-11 and J-10 fighters that could participate in this battle, probably ~300 aircraft in total, counting the J-16s and J-20s. The J-16 is also far more advanced than the J-15 here, as it has an AESA radar and more efficient engines. The HQ-22 would also be better in real life, able to shoot down AIM-174 and Mako, as it's basically meant to be an equivalent to the S-400. Also, I'm pretty sure the F/A-18 can only carry 2 AIM-174s in real life because of how heavy they are. Lastly, China would have plenty of destroyers, submarines, and other naval assets surrounding the carrier group if they entered the East China Sea like they did here, ready to fire AShMs and torpedoes at a moment's notice, as well as land-based ASBMs prepared to launch in advance specifically for this scenario.

    When a PC is bought like a pre-built, they all will come with the Hard-Drive as the "Boot Device", if you change this to your NVMe SSD instead of your Hard Drive every game you load will load 10x faster, this makes loading times a lot quicker. All you really would need after that is more DDR4 or DDR5 whichever RAM you have currently. But just swapping the Boot Drive to your NVMe SSD will speed this PC up 10-fold. Buying RAM cards is a lot cheaper than buying another pre-built whenever PC can be modified as good as the Newest PC's with just re-organizing the Boot Device. NOTE: Do Not go buy a SATA SSD without buying the cable as well. If you just change your Hard Drive (HDD) or an SSD the cable will bottle neck your drive right off the bat and nothing will change. The reason why the NVMe SSD is the best, because it's on the Mother Board itself and bypasses the cable altogether.

So they’re getting the benefit of having a finished product. The growing pains of learning carrier ops was automatically given to them. When they do get their own carrier it will not be nearly as powerful and they will have their own growing pains learning to use what they have created. Just wanted to point this fact out to everyone. Will it be as good as a US super carrier straight out of the gate? Who knows.

    • @shaunholt
      @shaunholt Před 23 dny

      Yep. I'd think F-35s, B-21s, B-2s, etc come in for the first strike before the enemy knows they're there. Enemy scrambles air force. Meets some F-22s and F-15s, followed by a wave of F-18s. The F-35s return re-armed and ready to bomb any surviving installations without any enemy planes to worry about. Enemy ships also hit first by subs.
