It would be a lot better without his 'mates' who seemed to have unlimited attacks in the French jets - one appeared to have 5 lives and seemed only interested in his little bit of the game. It has the effect of ruining any reality of the scenario.
AM39 Exocet as modeled is a minor update on the the original 70's missile, the Block 3 naval launched version of the Exocet introduced in the early 2000's increased the range to around 100nm and the Block 3C which entered service last year is a more substantial upgrade increasing its range to around 200nm. The French Navy also use the MDCN as a submarine/ship launched ASM in a role similar to Tomahawk, and Storm Shadow/SCALP EG as an air launched ground attack weapon, both are part of the same weapon family as the British Storm Shadow. There's a joint Anglo-French program called FC/ASW thats developing replacement weapons for all these weapons with a planned service entry in the 2030's.
Yeah that FC/ASW will include a mach 5 stealth anti ship missile both air and ship launched version. I cant wait for that! + they keep upgrading together the Aster family which is nice. Aster 30 will be able to intercept an ICBM in the near future which is going to be installed on both the French ships and the British Type 45 Destroyers.
MDCN isn't an ASM and FC/ASW's planned in-service date is 2027

You should read about the SPECTRA of the rafale, it is a phenomenal system
the thing is most of the Spectra system is classified, you only get a general idea of what it is; same thing for the F-35's EW systems, you can't really compare both in depth

The French CSG is missing the anti-air destroyers, Fremms are anti-sub frigates, you need to add the Horizon class, which is broadly equivalent to the type 45 as well as the sub class of the Fremm made for air defense as they both carry the Aster 30 which is for Area air defense compared to the Aster 15 which is for point defense
Yep, ship wise it’s not a fair fight ! It’s like putting type 45s vs types 23s. They can’t defend the same. By the way Rafale are a little cheaper than F-35s especially the B version which is really expensive. This this especially true if you take the operating costs.
@@rafalemirage8626 plus add the Horizon class and suddenly you have the beautiful S1850 L band radar which will spot all of the F-35 B flying. And by the time the UK will have 30 F-35 to put on their carrier, the Aeronavale will have the E-2D with the aesa radar and UHF bands capable of giving weapons tracks on stealth aircrafts via datalink
Yeah, putting 6 air-defence destroyers on one side and 6 ASW frigates on the other side and see how an air battle will play out is pretty one-sided. Esp. considering that Horizon and T45 are not just equivalent in role but pretty much (estranged) brothers.

The FREMMs carry Exocet MM40 Block 3's....Exocet has been developed into a purely Ship Launched weapon it seems with the AM-39 version being the only Air Launched version. MM-40 Block 3 has a far larger range than the air launched version...it has 110 NM / 200KM Range. The FREMMs use a PESA Radar, they are planning to replace that with an AESA Radar (Both France and Italy as they both use FREMMS)
The French carrier should have 2x6 Round SADRAL launchers for CIWS...they fire Mistral 2 and probably Mistral 3 if they have produced enough of them. SADRAL is E/O and FLIR based Search and Track and Mistrals 2 can Push 30G overload

France is working on FMAN/FMC CVS401 Perseus concept missiles to replace Exocet. UK is also part of the project and refer to it as FC/ASW. Originally it included a hypersonic variant but current work is focused on subsonic and supersonic variants. France also has SCALP Naval for ship and sub launched antiship missiles but is limited to Exocet for air launched antiship missiles for now.
As soon as a I saw the thumbnail for this video, Nelson came to mind!!! Fly, you seriously did the French proud though too picking off as many anti-ship missiles as possible, and you even stuck the landing at the end, hats off on making the best of a bad situation for your team!!

Nice to see the Norwegian NSM Naval Strike Missile, even upside down! I believe NSM are supposed to maneuver when approaching targets to dodge CIWS and other short range weapons, and they will of course not all go for the same target. I hope the NSM soon will evolve into a more realistic one in game, and that its sister the JSM Joint Strike Missile soon will be a part of the F-35s weaponry as it will in real life. In reality, the Brits F35's would would absolutely neutlise anything the french air arm/strike group could field/defend against.
I've seen some discussion about the Rafale vs the F-35 and this simulation reinforces a prime argument: you can't hit what you can't target. Save for some close range shots, most of the radar-guided weapons carried by the Rafale aren't very useful against a stealth aircraft unless that stealth aircraft presents itself

Because there's only a set amount of oxygen in a given amount of air. This limits the rate at which fuel can be burned and, by extension, the missile's acceleration. If you have a solid rocket motor, however, you can get far more oxidizer in per unit volume and burn fuel faster.

Yes meteor don't work actually in F35 and without the scenario will end in another way.

The Type 45’s are an excellent design. The USN likes to have one ride Shotgun when transiting The Straights of Hormuz - The Radar is excellent!

Great Video Cap, I just noticed something on the taxpayer counter, which by the way is a great addition to the videos. I know this might be very difficult to model, but it only counts the missiles that it shoots, but some planes have missiles on them when shot down. So every Rafael down also need to count all the missiles that they didn't shoot, the loss would be aaa lot more. Anyways if your team can do it that would be awesome.

That was hard to watch. The british had to fire almost 6 anti air missiles to get a single kill, even though they could see them from like 80 miles away and had a huge advantage with stealth. The meteor just did terribly. I guess it doesn’t matter how good the F-35 is if the meteor is that bad.
I think that is the real problem with the AI. They just spam missiles out when they would hall have done better to take a bit more care. deconfliction seems to be a big issue with AI in DCS.
Yeah when GR first created the weapon it was overmodeled and too good but they have heavily nerfed it in particular its performance at lower altitudes and is probably under modeled now. Partly thats as they cant simulate a variable output missile engine in the game so they gave it sustained thrust but massive air resistance/Drag to stop it getting to ludicrous speeds.
The F-35 can’t carry Meteor yet..

Yeah, lot of things are wrong. No aster 30 that can shoot planes/intercept far away just Aster 15 which is only close range protection, no horizon frigates with its radar that can detect f35, no hawkeye launched by the cdg, which would have lightened everything flying, (the queen elizabeth can't launch hawkeyes), an overestimation of the f35 over the rafale, even in an environment where its stealth is pretty much non existant, the superior reach of the rafale thanks to the catobar system, allowing other tactical options, and harpoons missiles instead of the last exocet increment which have a larger reach... And of course the french being sitting duck.
Grim reapers doesn’t have most of that stuff modeld but due to nvm low radar cross section the radars didn’t detect it until it was in aster 15 range

The French carrier group isn't accurate. The carrier should have been escorted by the two Horizon class frigates and the two FREMM DA the French Navy have. The Horizon class carry the same PAAMS system the T45 have and the FREMM DA have a better radar suit than the FREMM used in the simulation. FREMM have a pretty good ECM suit and decoys to lure the NSM or any ASM. The NSM have also the same range as the Exocet MM40 block 3C reported to be over 200km, yet the French ships didn't shot at the British ships which is odd.

Sorry to hear that CZcams is letting you down. I've not heard of those other two platforms.
Most channels are moving over to a membership model because no-one watches adverts anyway. CZcams can do what the hell they like with their algorithm but we have all kinds of ad blockers. Just as there are Twitter extensions which remove the algorithm and return the app to chronological and get rid of the tab - I can't remember what it is called it has been blocked from the start.
I was about to launch a weather-related channel on YT, but now I'm upset. Maybe I'll just start out on Rumble. And, I will follow you guys there... starting today.

I am french and I am very triggered by this information.
This is unrealistic, not a single baguette was launched at the British.
Rafale can spot a F-35 100km away with it's IRST (OSF) when post combustion is used and around 25 to 40km away during normal flights (ATE spoke about it).

I don’t know how much strain this would cause on your PC but you guys should simulate the British and French carrier groups VS a US carrier group.

The US haven’t seen Naval war since WW2 and once them reactors were hit the support group would flee from the radiation poisoning instead of helping them to safety
