The Audi R8 is a terrific car. Fast, capable and has that glorious 5.2-litre V10, even though it's in its least powerful tune.
What's also different is that the RWS is that instead of four-driven wheels, it's just the two. And of course, the two correct ones - the rears.

Well 4 months went by without reporting back to you guys sorry for that it just slipped my mind.
Took it to Sebring International race track as mentioned.
It is NOT a race car . We knew that but boy it handles very very well both in technical as well as in high speed corners.
Brakes behaved fine . I followed a Porsche GT 3 RS for a couple of laps without losing too much .
Although I was sure the Porsche driver didn't give it his best but nor did I.
Lots of fun.

Thanks nice video. I am the owner of a R 8 RWS for 6 months now. I start to like it more every single day.
I had no intentions to take it to the track, as I am used to real race cars( Porsche GT 3 Cup ), and know that street cars disappoint all the time.
However I had it prepared for a track day at Sebring International Raceway next week. I raced this track many many times so really curious to see
how this car performs.

Sebring was fun, car performed better than expected. No understeer at all !!! However no comparison to real racers. I followed a Porsche GT 3 RS for 1 1/2 lap he did run full nor did I but we kept sort of similar pace.
Yeah, not a full racer, but that's okay. You want to be able to use it on the road, which is where it is a lot of fun. I reckon the RWS is the only expensive car I could bring myself to buy (here in AU they're A$300,000 or about USD211k).

A Modern-day 'Everyday' Exotic Supercar for under $200K is Insane.

Friends have been steering me to buy one in manual. I do love the gated shift. I just wish it had pretend seats in the back.
Hi Andrew, sorry, I've replied to this about five times, so hopefully this time it comes through! I drove the old R8 in its dying days and just didn't quite gel with it. I didn't have a lot of seat time but it felt a bit dull, a bit inert. Having said that, I didn't drive the manual which I am sure is a completely different beast. It definitely wasn't a bad car - no way - but I just wasn't able to get on board. You might love it, so if you do get one, let me know what you think!

Onya mate, good review. I am seriously considering trading in my AMG GTS for the R8. Either RWS or Plus.

1:45 They problably wanted to make the RWS stand out from rest. Personally I prefer that look as it ads to a sleeker, more arrow-like silhouette.

This very car has come up for sale at an Audi dealership. Would you recommend buying a car that has been given to all the reviewers? It has done around 10k kms
Hi Sim. Depends on the price and the warranty. These cars are made to be driven hard and will have been given a thorough going-over. I'd be surprised if it's been on the press fleet for that many kms, though...it's an amazing car. If I had the money, I would buy it.
