JID was elite on his verse (big up). Can't imagine a lot of old heads jumping on tracks with newer guys (imagine Jay or Nas on with JID) coz of difference in energy levels & that risk of being out performed but u gotta admire Em. He never shys away... Cordae, Polo G, JID, Baby Tron etc.
Not only that, but his writing is sharper than ever. No one is touching Em technical wise & how his verse is assembled.
His verse on fuel has so many layers (internal, multi, schemes, different flows & rhyme patterns)... Notice for example how first part (up till "S-As) he is punching/emphasising the " A" sound. Then he moves on to the "B" sound, then the "C" sound, all while having other internal rhymes in between.

I am a huge 45 year old Em fan, but have been underwhelmed by his album efforts for a while now, although he has always had dope verses & tracks throughout his career. This album right here has made me soooo happy! It's a return to form. Eminem is probably the most complete emcee of all time. He has so many styles & has mastered them all.

Held his own in Boxing would mean they got in the ring and it was a close match so I don't know why you guys say this in rap when it wasn't close at all. If it's a 10 Round boxing match, Jid got smacked in Round 2 or 3. Holding your own with Em on track would be equal to going all 10 rounds as a Pro Boxer against Prime Tyson for example and the decision comes down to the end, no knock out. THAT is holding your own. If Tyson bodies you or you go 2-3 rounds and then he bodies you, that's not holding your own, you just got past not getting wooped Round 1. If Jid's goal was to just put a cool verse on Em's album, then mission accomplished for sure it was dope, but with the reputation Em has for being competitive and pen pushing, I think when artist collab with Em, they should put their most lyrical bars, best flow, technical foot forward because they know Em coming to wreck the beat and you will be compared to him. Jid has better verses than this on his own songs, and Em don't mind competition. Em and Busta went back and fourth for about a month sending verses back and fourth for "Calm down" because when Busta sent his verse, Em re-did his verse to 1 up Busta, so Busta re-did his verse, so Em re-did his, and Busta re-did his and it kept up for about a month.

I think Em out-rapped JID too and even I can see the glazing here. Came in with the intention of downplaying JID's bars in favor of making the claim that he got "cooked". Wild. Got the simple "over, wait (overweight)" bar and gassed it up, but couldn't see the value in the "platypus (platter pu**)" bar? Yeah aight lol.

Despite not being punchline heavy, Jid's verse was not empty. This is important for people to know.
COOKED? that's just disrespectful, Em cooked benzino,mgk,etc. But here, Em stepped it up a notch and showed he's still untouchable . But if anything the fact that Em had to go this deep is a compliment to what JID brought to the table. He deserves more respect than "cooked"

Em only "Outrapped" JID with controversial bars. I think JID had a better delivery, Solid bars and overall the better sounding verse. Eminem For sure had overall better bars but in no way had better delivery. Honestly JID has the best delivery in Hip hop right now imo guys flow/cadence is just NASTY on any beat.
