    One thing to note about buses is that there are a lot of routes that have several branches, so telling the bus driver where you're going is more than important.

    This is the video that I needed 5 years ago when I first came to BsAs!!! I've been here 6 times now and public transport has always been challenging, purely because there is very little information about HOW you navigate colectivos and the subte and some of the apps don't work for non-Argentines. It took me ages to understand I needed to know my destination so I could tell the bus driver where I was going 😂. This video is by far the best I've seen with specifics about how the subte works. Thank you so much for making it!

  • @bex3495
    @bex3495 Před 7 měsíci +1

    the scanners on the side of the "molinetes" are for cards used by employees of the metro system, also it has the old slot right on the bottom of that scanner for the old paper cards wich are now outdated by the SUBE.
    But they still work, usually if the metro suddenly stoped working and you are told to get our of the subte they give you a paper card valid for 1 free travel.

  • @picolete

    There used to be to extra stations, Pasco sur and Alberti norte, they are closed; that's why Alberti and Pasco are like that.
    I would like to recommend you the applications "Como llego"(similar to google maps) and "Cuando Subo" lets you know how much you have to wait for the next bus(if the time appears in blue is that the app is tracking the next bus, if it appears in grey it's the time the bus "should" pass)

    I am from the City of Buenos Aires and of course I already knew everything! But it's pretty interesting to see the perspective of a foreign :) One thing that I wish Buenos Aires would do a better job with it's information for tourists, you would NEVER know that you need a SUBE card that you have to purchase in kiosks if you don't research before. Wish there'd be signs and a more friendly way of selling them.

    • @NickiPostsTravelStuff
      @NickiPostsTravelStuff  Před rokem +3

      hahaha Buenos Aires and Argentina, honestly, make nearly everything difficult for tourists. You need a DNI to do most things and a ton of websites don't work and/or have outdated info, and they NEVER work in English. It's definitely a harder place to travel, but worth it! :)

Later I realized my card never actually scanned because I had never informed the driver where I was going. They probably just thought I was a dumb foreigner and let me go! hahaha But finally one day while I waited for the bus, I realized I had probably been doing something wrong, and asked the woman at the stop with me how it all works. After that I felt much more confident getting on the buses! :)

    Subte doesn't go outside the city. In fact it doesn't even go near the city limits, you'd have to move, in some cases, about 20 blocks to get to the city limit. A common mistake among tourists that only move in the touristic area, Buenos Aires is a massive city, almost three times the size of Manhattan, two times the size of Paris; it has 48 neighborhoods and most tourists only move in 5/6.

      Hi Gio, thank you so much! The kioskos are all over the place. Like every after block has 1-2. There is a big franchise called Jevi, but there are a ton of smaller ones everywhere. Just look for a small place that has candy, drinks, etc. if they have a blue SUBE sign in the window, you should be able to get a card there. You should also be able to buy a card in the bigger Subte stations as well. Best of luck! :)
