- Beau decides to stay back and get camp packed up so they can relocate closer to some water. In the meantime, Marcus heads out at first light to call and try and locate a bull to go after. He finds elk scattered all around in the morning but doesn't hear any bugles.
So he decides to get closer to the elk he does see and heads that direction. They are occupying an are covered in deadfall, making it difficult to stalk quietly and out of sight. But Marcus decides to take his chance and give it his best.
He takes his time and sneaks down to their level. A spike surprises him so he stays put where he is. Eventually with a little calling a larger bull comes into the meadow he is on the edge of and gives Marcus a shot.

Buck/Elk fever will get everyone, no matter your experience. Great job, guys. I totally appreciate that you respected the animal by not yelling your faces off and high-fiving for 10 minutes.
Marcus and Beau I admire you guys to no end. Marcus you looked like a pro from the outside man. I guess we get better being harsh critics on ourselves though. Been watching you guys for years, and it's been a great process. Thank you for sharing. Beau you're an inspiration man, knowing what you've been through. I respect you so much for your accomplishments.
Archery is challenging, but it's a credit to both you guys that you take pride in your shooting & have respect for the animals you hunt. There is another channel I won't name where one of the principals is consistently making poor archery shots without any apparent regret and taking 600+ yard shots with their long-range rifle setups. It's nice to watch some guys who hold themselves to a higher standard.
Thanks for the realism. Most others probably would have sterilized the shot footage so that their final edit looked “perfect.” We all can actually learn something from authentic footage like this!
I have watched more hunting videos on CZcams than I care to admit. This was by far one of the best. The intensity of both elk encounters was amazing. Totally captured the highs and lows of what I associate with hunting. Thank you.
This has been my favorite video so far!! The low an the high and the team work!! It so cool watching him work with his lamas!!! Keep it up guys!!!
What a whirlwind series! Congrats Marcus, that was great. Beau is the man and his llamas are amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Appreciate it. Thanks! Beau and his llamas are unmatched!
@@MarcusHockett on my reply I received a notice I'd won a bow in a contest....after several emails and texts it now wants me to pay for shipping...is this legit? Thanks, Steve
@@stevenmanheim3070 No. that is not us. Sounds like you are being scammed. Who is sending you messages?
Good job way to stick with it. You got him down that’s most important. I drew my first elk tag this last fall 2022 in NM. Thankfully it was an archery tag. However I messed my shot up! Only 40 yards and I missed. Got too excited waiting for the perfect shot and the arrow went over his back. Unfortunately no draw for 2022-2023. I am addicted to elk archery now! Good luck in 2022-2023!
Better a clean miss than a lost, wounded animal.
Another wonderful hunt! Love how you guys show it all really how it is. The highs and the lows. You guys are awesome
Stoked to see what Spur produces!!
Great job all around. Llamas were worth their weight in gold. Beautiful country and seems to be a fair amount of game there. Congrats to the team.
fresh elk off the tailgate after a great hunt, I can taste it now--good job guys!
Great job getting that bull to stop so you could place a better shot. Anyone that's hunted long enough will have at least one bad shot but you covered for it with that follow-up. Nothing like fresh tenderloin to top off a successful hunt.
I know all about a bad bow shot. Never feels good. Unfortunately I couldn’t get a second arrow in and never did find the buck. That was years ago, ready to get back into it again. This was a legit hunt 👍
Way to go fellas! Elk hunting can be rough but you hammered through!
What an adventure! Beautiful scenary, perfect weather, surrounded by elk and to top it off filling the freezer with a stud bull elk! You'll be eatin good off him for a while!
You guys are great. Thank you for all your effort to post these videos. Congrats on the elk!
Good job Guy's. Can't wait till next fall myself!
Congratulations Marcus on your hunt. God's Blessing was with you on your hunt.
God's Blessings on all your adventures
I have been a Newberg fan for years miss your TV shows watch all the CZcams ones on my bad days I go to your Playlist and click on and watch Newberg all day except for lunch and supper man's gotta eat mostly elk here in Oregon family hunt help the old that's me.I can still call in a bull though and hunters to they sneak in on the ranch after me funny when they see my pickup and me sitting in it .I tell them I surrender just don't shoot my f150
¼s
Congrats on the teamwork, adventure and elk in the freezer!
The rewards of your labor….scarfing elk tenderloin! Perfect
Great job Hockett bros and team Beausllamas!
That tenderloin looks awesome. Good luck on your next elk Marcus.
I will be following from Az.😎
Congrats fellers. Nice work.
We are so blessed to be Americans! God Bless USA ! 🇺🇸
Congrads guys. The hard work paid off.
GREAT VIDEO! Wish you all the best of the best you never fail to entertain thank you for the amazing content.
Right on guys . Way to stick it out and congrats
Great job Great hunt really enjoy watching thank you for sharing!
Awesome trip! Thanks for sharing.
Great series! Thanks!
People who haven’t made a bad shot haven’t shot at enough animals. You quickly got a second shot in the bull and got him down fast. That’s the reality of hunting, sometimes it don’t go how you’d like it to happen
Agreed, part of me was wandering if his bow was shooting left.
Great team work! Love the llamas!
Nice job! Great recovery shooting Markus.
It happens to all of is ! I got drawn for bull elk here in Arizona in Sept!!
Archery as well
What an awesome video! Congrats on the awesome bull!!
I wish you guys would of put out some I didn't already watch on the elk 101 channel I guess is time to find something new to watch
Nice!!!!!! Congrats boys. Great job
Good job. Congratulations!
dead fall is always exciting---lol
i thought there would be more deadfall ---now when it is more than a 1/2 a mile that is a lot
What brand bear spray does Beau use?
A Hockett family outing in search of the mighty Wapiti 👍
Nicely done!!
That’s a relief. To see the animal. Dead. Well done. For keeping. The concentration
Good job!
Awesome stuff! 👌
Awesome vid😊
Sweet Video 👍
What State was this hunt in?
Good job to keep the presence of mind to stop him for another shot. The bad shots that are the result of excitement are completely acceptable. Bad shots that is the result of shooting through brush or at a chancey angle are not. Congratulations!
Missed the state. Where was this?
Was the mic right next to your bow, or were you shooting a super lite arrow? Because that bow sounded like a crossbow going off 😂
Thank you everyone for the videos all of you. And randy 😁😁😁😁😁
I will be the only llama on my trip unfortunately!!
Nice job guys. Worst thing about killing an animal in warmer weather is those damn flies. We don't have them like that out here in IN/ Ohio. Those things easily weigh a half pound each, lol. If you could only train them to pack elk.
As marcus always says , you go where the elk are .,.
Hey Randy/Crew I’m a resident in the State of Georgia. Im serving in the United States Army and my next duty station is going to be FT. Carson; Colorado. What can I & how can I hunt Colorado as a out of state resident/military?
He has several videos on how to hunt colorado
@@BackwoodsMayhem I’m referencing specifically military/active duty members
Military are considered residents of the state they are stationed in for the purposes of hunting/fishing.
Don’t cut the meat immediately after pulling it from the heat. I know it’s cold outside and you want to get that hot food in your stomach, but alllllll those juices would stayed inside the meat had you waited just 5-8 minutes to let them pull back inside.
Yup
Can't believe you left him for 3 hrs. before you went to have a look, that didn't do the meat any good...........
Very. Hard.
I get that archery is more of a challenge but I feel like shots are just not reliably ethical.
Dude needs to practice lol
Your problems are shooting your release Aid, stop punching your Release. Trigger lease aid know for that.
48 yards is to to far---people that expect to shoot an elk 45-65 yards are idiots. Need to know your limits--my rule is nothing over 40 yards--All of my Elk have been shot at 10-40 yards---- quick kills. Just tell yourself it is not worth wounding an elk---stay under 40. Wyoming guy
