@@OttoByOgraffey The police officer was trying to convey what the woman reported, not what the police believed. The guy who was hit was so amped-up, the officer was not able to complete a sentence. That is why he called in the second officer. The man who was filming already had established a rapport with the second officer and was able to calm down enough to hear what was being said.

Depends I got beat up by police in 2013 and stomped out pretty bad. This was also in a Publix parking lot right up the street from my house (New Port Richey Fl) I tried to have my lawyer get surveillance footage from Publix and they only had camera at the door which is what I was told. Now this was 10 years ago and they may have change and upgraded their security systems but who knows.

Please talk to a lawyer, see whether they can get additional charges or if you can go after her for defamation. @Wtfbroward I don't know what the law is in Florida, but the definition of robbery in Texas is taking something with no intent to return it. Lawyers will 100% argue that she only intended to erase the footage and then return it, so that charge won't stick.

She approached you in a threatening manner, she reached for you/your phone several times, then, thrust her fist at you making contact. You responded as you should. I had a similar instance and even had marks and a bruise on me and front of police the evidence was filmed and given yo them as well as filling out a police report. DA didn’t file charges most likely because it was a woman doing the hitting AND she was 60# lighter and 7” shorter than me. I did not lift a finger in response, knowing if I had, I would be the one charged and going to jail. Glad she (the “Karen” in your video) received some reciprocity/payback/equal treatment (as they constantly cry for). In her case, I feel she deserved extra attention…”Here’s your helping, would you like another?!” would have been earned/warranted

Talk to the prosecutor/district attorney. The police can say whatever they want, at the end of the day the DA is who actually prosecutes the case and decides the charges. They might just dismiss the case it she doesn’t have any priors - maybe a fine or community service at most? With a clean record.

This is what happened to me when the squatter attacked me, the cop wouldn’t arrest her. I had to go downtown and successfully filed a restraining order to get her out the house. The cops were useless!

1. This is further proof that "believe all women" mantra should never have been a thing.
2. Do not trust what those officers told you about charging her or the DA's office seeing the matter through. Continue to make inquiries about the status. Might want to alert local media outlets too.
3. I'd advise talking to a lawyer you can trust (I know, finding a trusted one can be a challenge). Less about you getting money and more about holding the LE and DA accountable in their responsibilities for ensuring justice is served against the criminal offender. As we could all see, they would not have hesitated if the roles were reversed. Justice is supposed to be blind to matter such as the genders of the criminal and the victim.

I am a white male. I have been approached by police numerous time throughout my life and they have demanded answers to questions and didn’t like the answers I was giving because it didn’t suit what they wanted to hear.
My sister had multiple traffic accidents and never was charged. She had been burning the candle at both ends, fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a car. She had a quiet word with some friends and the whole case went away. She even managed to get more car insurance despite all of this.
