These buildings are beautiful. I was asked by a friend to build and paint this exact building, but in N scale. Let me tell you it was a slow process, but it was extremely gratifying seeing the final product. Woodland Scenics makes excellent products and another great scenery choice Eric!
for the thing on the side of the building at 3:05, if doors, or window frames, are made of wood it will give a LOT of sawdust, so you need to get rid of that, that thing is basically a massive vacuum, without basically the whole factory would be covered in sawdust. I picked that but when I did the IT Administration for a wood factory which specialized in window frames and doors. but, based on the size of the building and that system, its likely that a fair part of the building is meant for storage, not production, otherwise you'd need a bigger one, the place I worked, which wasn't much bigger than this building would be 1:1, has one that was about two floors high.
Actually, I believe WS is making the Menards buildings too. Although, they are not quite as detailed as this one is, they are stil a really great value with enough detail to satisfy most, and for the price (usually around $99), they can’t be beat. Throw in the Menards 11% rebate and it’s a no brainer!
Having worked in furniture factories before, I would assume that all the piping ducts on the building are part of the system that collects the sawdust away from the machinery used in the manufacturing of the doors, routers, saws, planes, etc, etc. Our system also had pipes run down to the floors to sweep the sawdust on the floor towards to get rid of it. Our sawdust, chips, etc ended up being used as fuel to fire the factories boilers for heat.
Hey Eric! - The Duct on the side of the building is used as a ventilation system in the factory. It takes the saw dust out of the air to make the conditions safe for workers (Sorry if this has been said already!)

There's a "deleted scene" that shows the building in its place on the layout, but I omitted that shot because the installation is not complete at this time and I felt it was a sloppy shot to show it only partially installed.
It is also expensive because it cost to ship from China. It goes be ship to a dock to a train to a trucking company. The price of fuel is a big factor in this to. But shocking as this may sound if it was manufactured here in the US it would cost even more.
Not really that bad.The Lionel kits,you build and if you ever built model kits as a kid,suck.No locating tabs,pegs and holes etc.They weren’t cheap either and you had to build and add lights.As a modeler as a kid and all the way to my early twenties,O will say the Lionel kits were the worst kits I ever built.

I put some of those Morrison's Doors in my house on Penny Lane, When I open them I can see for miles.

Sometimes the little things in life have the biggest impact. This building is little but it sure is epic. The blinds were my favorite part.
Eric those things are either exhaust or dust collectors.

That's because factory workers in the US get paid $30-40 per hour.
