Thank you Sooooo much! As a 80 year female living alone, this was a great help!😊
I've been dealing with an annoyingly loud vibration whenever the toilet flushes. I finally decided it was probably low pressure, and the toilet valve was struggling to shut. I turned the adjustment on the regulator about a half turn clockwise and no more vibration. I just ordered a gauge from Amazon, so when it gets here I'll properly adjust the regulator.
Thank you so much for this. Saved me $$$ just to be told I need to spend more money to fix my leak.
That was great how you demonstrated righty tighty lefty Loosey as well😆
Good to know. I had a plumber come to my house the other day to install a new toilet and sink and of course, my pressure was too high. Before I go and spend $400 on a new regulator, I do want to check to make sure he's not trying to tell me I need something that I really don't
Please tell me whether the plumber was telling you the truth? I just had a plumber tell me my PSI is 95 and I need to pay him over $2,000.00 to put in a regulator!!!
Perfect! It’s just what I wanted to know - thank you!
As a beginner I appreciate this
Thank you. I appreciate your video .l needed a simple video to send my mom so she could check her pressure.
"that's tight" turns it the right way **that's better** 😂
I did not know, but now I do. Thank you, sir.
No I didn’t. But now thanks to you I’ve learned something new
Your videos are amazing !!!
What if a little bit of water keeps coming out of the top of the spigot when performing this test? Will this water seepage affect the pressure reading on the guage?
I know that the new guage is secured tightly to the spigot, and no water is seeping from where the guage is screwed into the spigot.
There is no water seepage when the spigot is turned off, only when the spigot is turned on.
Thank you
Looks like 9mm but for sure it's high velocity.... copper jacket lead filled design. You probably know that already if you're a marine
Our pressure had always been very low. It only became an issue when there wasn’t enough pressure to flush my boat engine. So I tested it and it was at 20 psi. I adjusted it to 60 and now the engine is discharging with the hose. Anyway, should I adjust it back down? Or do I need to worry about it spiking and becoming too high? I just don’t want any leaks with too much pressure.
Helpful!
Can you do a reverse water leak check? I would like to check from the outside faucet to the water main on the street to see if there is a leak between the house and the faucet closest to the water main
My water pressure is exactly 90. Been living in this house for years with no problem. Should I be concerned?
Did u get an answer I have 90 also with no problems
@@ethandumas6937 The reason I asked was because I installed a tankless toilet and there was a strong water hammer, which I thought was due to the higher pressure. But then I put a water hammer arrestor and that solved the problem. I got no answer here and I don't plan to do anything else since I've been living with that exact water pressure with no issues for many years.
Yes it's too high and against code. Most likely you will wear down pipes and things like dishwasher and washing machine.
@aaronneal2594 my house seems to have 1 inch supply line were the prv is on the front of the house by the hose bib and the irrigation stations in the back also have 1 inch pipes the irrigation store said we need the ones for 1 inch pipe they only sell 3/4ths at home depot u know, so what size prv would I need for the 1 inch pipe? Or maybe it is 90 because of the 1 inch pipe, but I think it reduces inside the house because the stub outs for everything is 1/2
Just checked my water pressure. It was at 37. I went and cranked up the regulator and the pressure has not moved at all :(
Did you turn off the household water to check the pressure or did you do it with the water on
Do u have a video on increasing water pressure to my home ?
If u show along with open water well and good
How do you check water pressure if living in a condo unit?
Turns the valve righty tighty whoops
That's measuring the "static pressure".....
Who do you think has the best water softener
Hello! what if I cannot go outside to test water pressure due to extremely low temperatures (-15)? Can I still check it indoors? any faucet in the house?
Thank you for this vid. Two question. 1) Could you explain why it has to be an outdoor tap please? Also, 2) any idea why most new shower heads (all the ones we've researched at least) list their flow rate assuming an 80psi, if houses should be set to 50-70? Thanks!
Not a plumber, but I do not think it needs to be the outdoor spigot, it's just a convenient tap to access and one with a diameter that the pressure guage fits.
Not a plumber. Seems like not ALL homes are set st those numbers. Some may go up to 80. I imagine it is rated at 80 to accomodate those at 80. Here in Tx they are not rated at psi, they use gpm ratings here,(gallons per minute) Also, here they use a type of flow limiter indide the spray head so to "save water". It limits the flow, and in our case equals longer shoers with less force. One can open tje shower head carefully n pop out that little plastic flow limiter. Size/shape vary by manufacturer. Google or Y tube the removal method. I now enjoy good pressured shorter showers. Goo luck.
So the pressure on the guage on the water pump into my home isn't the actual pressure? Mine reads 72 psi.
Mine is at 80 and all of these PRVs open at 75psi
wrong should have set the red dial it didn't move. incorrect reading
