- Dancing Brave officially rated by the BHA as the second highest horse since ratings began in 1977, second only to Frankel and yet Dancing Brave could boast a unique profile, capable of winning the 2,000 Guineas and Sussex Stakes over a mile and being victorious over a mile and a half at Longchamp in the 1986 Prix De L'Arc De Triomphe against probably the strongest field in the history of the race. This video bears out Dancing Brave's unique ability to quicken in the final stages of a race when most would be 'emptying out'. A talent demonstrated on no better fashion than in his controvertial defeat in The Derby. One of the most endearing qualities of this horse was his 'kind' teperament he loved humans, something seen in other greats like Arkle and Desert Orchid. Enjoy this, with a superb commentary by Albert Finney it is a tribute to the skills of the Pacemaker team who put it together.
Enjoyed watching this. The best horse i've seen and backed him ante post for the guineas as well as the Derby, King George and Arc. I noticed Albert Finney mentioned that Greville was injured and Pat took the ride, I'm sure it was more to do with Greville getting him beat in the Derby. Pat was a class rider and Greville wasn't injured for the Arc but Khalid Abdullah wanted the best rider on board.
I note you said "Dancing Brave could boast a unique profile, capable of winning the 2,000 Guineas and Sussex Stakes over a mile. DB didn't run in or win the G1 Sussex stakes...he won the select stakes at Goodwood G3. Easily done I know and could be a typo but is incorrect.
